Next door's -thug- cat

Has started coming in our house and stealing cat food.
Our cats dislike him. (understatement...)
Once he's in it's a problem removing him because he growls, hisses and then attacks us (launches at our legs etc).
He spends an inordinate amount of time in our garden or staring in through the French windows. Any suggestion how to gently discourage him? I have no intention of having outside doors shut for the whole summer.
Enclosed a picture of him sitting on our outside table.

TC is a poor misunderstood boy who just wants lurve.

GarthFunkel · 02/06/2019 13:33

I love the fact the targeted ads at the bottom of the page are for Feliway - "Feliway stops cats fighting" Grin

CarolDanvers · 02/06/2019 13:36

I'm a 100% a dig person. Always have been.

This cat makes me want a cat! But only if he is just like this one 😏

FangsTasticBeast · 02/06/2019 14:00

Garth, I was just thinking the same 😂

youllhavehadyourtea · 02/06/2019 14:05

He's doing that 'rigid baby' thing.

Ilovetolurk · 02/06/2019 14:42

Those paws Shock

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/06/2019 15:42

www.thebengalcatclub.com/rehoming--welfare.html

Website for anyone wanting a thug cat of their own to love. They are very affectionate cats.

Supersimpkin · 02/06/2019 15:52

extract from one cat's interpet dating profile on Fluffy's rescue site:

"I’m now having a neighbours dispute over hi'm I’m having problems with my neighbours interfering, they feed him , then when he goes into there house or attacks there cat, they have a go at me" [sic]

Other entries casually drop in remarks like ''must be rehomed in an area with no other pets around' and 'despite owning cats for over 50 years, I never knew how demanding Bengals are' - basically, all packed with encouragements to everyone on this thread who's fallen for adorable little TC.

WatcherOfTheNight · 02/06/2019 15:53

I always look at that site Fluffy, would love a Bengal but they all tend to want homes with no other animals . I live in hope though !

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/06/2019 15:54

I read that too and did a double take Grin

The trouble is with people trying to put square pegs in round holes. Bengals often like to be only pets, getting one with resident cats has a good chance of not working.

It’s been 6 years and mines still outraged that the cats next door still live next door. He is literally obsessed.

Supersimpkin · 02/06/2019 16:04

It's no wonder some Bengals just have to rehome themselves.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/06/2019 16:06

Quite a few of the cats on that site are of a similar age to TC.
Do all Bengal / part-Bengal cats turn into psycho- thugs at 6 or 7?

Fluffycloudland77

So despite TC's apparent friendliness with my cats (the black ones anyway), do you think he would plot their demise if he ever did manage to move in? Shock

Minkies11 · 02/06/2019 16:09

Christ don't tell me that - mine are only 3 and I've aged 20 years since I got them. Ageing now in cat years instead of human ones!

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/06/2019 16:09

Mines G&T so he was psycho from the get go . He tore through dhs t shirt cutting his stomach, hand and arm at about 6 months when he went out to bring him in one night.

Adorably precocious.

Ilovetolurk · 02/06/2019 16:24

“They don’t get on well with other cats/children”

No mention of my house now resembles beirut

Supersimpkin · 02/06/2019 16:49

I've just noticed this entry.

Unexpectedly back on the market

Kindly home wanted for White/Grey variety, looking for a new home through no fault of his own after in-house conflict with Bengal.

Not neutered, but microchipped and vaccinations up to date. ok with children. Not sure how he is with dogs.

Forced into a reluctant rehoming, he has a healthy appetite, is house trained and would appreciate a garden to wander about in.

A Rehoming fee of £100 is required. Please contact only the lady of the house.

No fleas or worms!

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/06/2019 19:35

Can you read my mind? 😮

Grumpy I think tc is friendlier than my little miscreant. He seems to want feline company. He’s recruiting to his army, next stop Poland.

Oh I'm happy to admire from a distance. I can't have a cat right now anyway (long story), but when I do it will have to be an indoor cat with access to an enclosure because all the neighbours have insane dogs, one of which I am convinced is actually a wolf.

GarthFunkel · 03/06/2019 12:02

that rescue site is gold Grin

He is not keen on being picked up and will let you know when he needs something translation: he has removed all the skin on my arms and never shuts up

Recently had an accident with a strong gust of wind and a heavy kitchen door translation: Fuck you, door

He doesn’t run from dogs translation: Fuck you, dog

He would need to be homed without other cats in the area translation: Fuck you, cats

I live near quite a busy road, and he has been known to lie in the middle of it on a warm day translation: fuck you, Bus

He was originally rehomed because he was harassing the neighbours translation: fuck you, Human

does not seem to snatch food from the kids translation: fuck you, Small human

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/06/2019 12:31

They have their cuddly sides too.

YesQueen · 03/06/2019 12:33

I think Ollie would cry if he even saw one Grin

Minkies11 · 03/06/2019 12:50

I don't know why it goes wrong with Bengals. They ate extremely confident and nosy - except my two. They are wimps and run away from other people/cats/cars.
They do 'play' with my neighbours elderly lhasa apso though. When I hear it screaming I have to go out and tell them off.

Minkies11 · 03/06/2019 12:52

But they never growl, hiss, scratch or bite me - have never done. I'll look for a personality change around 5/6 years old then!
