To clap my hands and skip about in a elephantine manner?

I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

Awaiting a photo of MiniDisgrace clutching said control and laughing like a drain.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 28/11/2018 11:21

It was bad enough when DD experimented with it, and we were treated to multicoloured strobing that gave us all instant migraines.

Looks like the holy water has worn off. Shivers.

OP I’ve just sat and read this the whole way through. It’s incredibly awesome. My own and very dear grandad passed away this year and reading your posts and photos have brought back some amazing memories.

Keep up the good work grandad you seem like one of the best like mine was. Please keep updating!

This is my all-time most favourite thread ever. I'm really hoping the updates will carry on through 2019!

My God, how have I missed out on this thread for so long! I'm not quite crying, but give me a few more pictures and I will be! MiniDisgrace is so lucky to have such a fabulous family, I wish you all the best for 2019 and beyond.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 01/01/2019 00:20

Happy New Year from the Disgraceful family.

Solo babysitting today while DD was at work. Easy enough, as all I had to do was feed him, change his nappy a couple of times and act as a crash mat/guard rail/furniture mover. He chattered non stop, sometimes comprehensibly. I feel all warm now.

Oooh your threads make me feel warm & fuzzy. Who has worn who out? Grin

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 18/01/2019 11:13

Pretty much a draw: he's more mobile, I find it harder to get off the sofa. At least he doesn't play Blind Man's Roulette any more, a game where you put a towel on your head and run in random directions until you fall over and hurt yourself.

Seventeen months. So I'll celebrate it by waving at passers by, interspersed with falling backwards into the beanbag.

Awwwww he's lovely

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 27/01/2019 17:40

It was his first sleepover alone last night. We hadn't gathered that bedtime involves rolling around the room for an hour, nor that sharing food means licking it first. Nothing being force fed dissolving Pom Bears to kill the appetite. He's still not worked out mirrors yet, which is hilarious.

OP posts:
iklboo · 27/01/2019 17:45

I'll see your dissolving Pom Bear and raise you a snotty cheesy wotsit

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 31/01/2019 04:30

Oh, he doesn't use a wotsit, he prefers to feed you his mucus directly. Still, at least he didn't road test his front teeth on my kneecap like his mother.

I love this thread! My kids grandpa also thinks bedtime means rolling about on the floor for an hour Hmm Grin

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 03/02/2019 01:22

It's not us rolling about, it's him!

Also there are new and alarming things to prevent: turning on the bath tap so all the hot water runs out, climbing into the kitchen sink, heelhooking the armchair and jumping off the windowsill etc etc etc. All of it with a winning smile.

Babysitting until DSIL gets back from his early shift. We have watched Pirates!, eaten an illicit bag of crisps, picked up the sofa so he can retrieve things, had my trousers grubbied, gone mad with tickling. Now he's asleep. The sensation I feel is almost exactly like heroin, but without the vegetable brain.

My parents were never really keen to be hands on kind of grandparents and my kids are all teenagers now. This lovely thread makes me so sad at what could have been and somehow happy at the same time.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 06/02/2019 21:00

Oh what a shame threes. I took my cue from my DF, who was a fantastic granddad. The last time I saw him alive, DD kissed him and then farted thunderously. He laughed until he turned purple. "I thought that was going on the death certificate". DD knew him for less than 5 years, but she adored him. Like I said upthread, big shoes to fill.

First post but have lurked for a time. Please don’t stop posting you have had me giggling and weeping with the sheer joy of your love for him and your family.

AuntMarch · 20/02/2019 21:44

This is just wonderful.
I'm expecting and find myself back at my mum's. This makes me quietly pleased that is the case!
