I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

This is so lovely, I've never seen it before, but your first post reminded me of my mum when I told her I was pregnant the first time, she was so excited and proud. Unfortunately she passed away when DS was 5 months old, but reading this has reminded me of the joy she felt. Congratulations on your grandson, he's beautiful, enjoy every minute 😊

Please write a book op. You are a very talented writer. And thank you for sharing your joy. I wish I'd had a grandad like you.

MsMotherOfDragons · 12/06/2018 22:03

What a beyond delicious thread. Congratulations to you on your small person, and to your small person on you.

upsydaisydah · 12/06/2018 23:09

This is too lovely, I’ve been happy crying the whole entire way through the thread. Bless you all Flowers

MrsMozart · 12/06/2018 23:13

He's not terribly visible, but this is a piece of history. He's being held by his great great grandmother, and in shot are no less than 10 grandparents and great grandparents by blood and marriage.

Meanwhile, he's not far short of 18 pounds and three feet, he can stand without holding onto things for up 10 seconds and then lower himself down, and DD is amusing herself by getting him to chase thrown objects. Very like a puppy, complete with growling. He expresses joy with his entire body: he greeted me yesterday by simultaneously laughing, blowing raspberries, and flapping his arms.

Except...our time with him is ending. DSIL and DD are moving out in a month. We're following them up by Christmas, but the daily cuddles will soon be a thing of the past. Still, we've been incredibly lucky. Might need a hankie sometime in July. Wish them luck.

Your bond with that baby will not end here Flowers

My teens boys love their grandparents because their grandparents have never jusdged them

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/06/2018 15:31

Aww, Transplants. I put the link there because it's such an antidote to all the horrible stuff that's going on.

TransplantsArePlants · 16/06/2018 16:40

Thank you Whore. Much needed relief Smile

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/06/2018 19:36

Disgrace - my partner and I lived with my parents when our first baby was born, and we all moved out after ten months.

I can happily reassure you that the bond between child (now 8) and grandparents has remained very strong. There are many sleepovers.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 21/06/2018 00:49

He's learning cunning, and no longer makes a noise when escaping the room or trying to eat the router. You might be in the kitchen, and something warm brushes past a bare calf, causing you to squeal. Then he'll wipe his dribbly breakfast smeared face on your leg. I'm going to miss it.

Ten months old. He's been for his first visit to the beach. DD and DSIL have been flat hunting, they've got a place subject to references, and DSIL's transfer will be through in two or three weeks. We've found a decent 3 bed for us, just have to get our place ready to sell. We'll be between the hills and the sea, and hopefully a long golden afternoon to our time here.

DSIL has dug him a hole, and in true Disgraceful tradition, he's digging himself in deeper.

Between the hills and the sea will be the perfect location for many many rambles featuring poking things with sticks as well as giving opportunity for much inspection of rock pools, sandcastle-building (with moats!) and driftwood and shell collecting.

Mini-Disgrace will have a rich store of golden memories of his childhood.
