The living room door and squeezy bottles that make fart noises.
Try and find anything more terrifying! Bet you can't Wink

Another one scared of fluffy dogs. She is a muscle bound staffy cross but she once nearly crapped herself as she had to walk past - horror of horrors -a tiny poodle puppy.

She never gets told off, and no-one ever raises their voice to her - she is treated with constant gentleness and love - but yesterday she tried to eat a sausage roll on the living room carpet so I gently took it off her and returned it to her bowl in the kitchen. Then made encouraging and I thought cute sounds to make her go in there to eat it. She sat trembling for an hour, before consenting to finally go in and eat the sausage roll. (She was a rescue puppy, and also has a fear of little girls which we think relates to the scumbags who 'bred' her).

HoosierDaddy · 28/04/2017 21:09

Our rescue's list includes - but is subject to irrational change-

Being indoors without back door being wide open. He'll tolerate about 15 mins. Outside he is happy as a pig in shite. In pissing rain, sleet, snow, gales. Not a bother. I made him sleep indoors one night in a particularly cold snap and he hid for 2 days.

Car trips. We've given up trying.

Farts. His own or human.

Walking on tiles. Had to lay a row of mats to get him to walk into kitchen.

The noise his own tail makes when it bangs off something.

My home made bread 🤔

Male neighbours and oil man. Not a bit bothered by ASOS delivery guy as he sees him weekly

My cousin's 3 year old, who has never come near him.

Love that mutt. He lives with my dad now, miss him loads

justnippingin · 28/04/2017 21:10

The microwave ping as it finishes cooking sends him into orbit!

Ellybellyboo · 28/04/2017 21:44

Cardboard tubes from kitchen rolls - DH once blew a farty noise in one and scared the shit out of him. He's now terrified of all kitchen roll tubes

Lit candles

DD wearing a unicorn onesie with the hood up

DH sometimes takes him to work and he's utterly terrified of a large black fan. The large fan is not plugged in or in use. It's just sitting there minding it's own business.

The dark

The post box at the end of the road when it's dark

Ellybellyboo · 28/04/2017 21:48

Oh, and very small dogs. MiL's tiny little chihuahua once had a go at his ankles.

FortunaMajor · 28/04/2017 21:48

Water - SHE. WILL. NOT. GET. WET.

Bridges - We've been working on this one and she will go over when in contact with me, but not alone.

Jack Russells - She is a tall, broad shouldered 50kg German Shepherd and an imposing beast. People cross the road so they don't have to walk past her. She is terrified of Jack Russells. Which wasn't a problem until we moved next door to one that bounces on the kid's trampoline to look over the fence at at her. We are not amused.

Hobbes39 · 28/04/2017 22:01

I love this - I'm so relieved that it's not just my dog who is terrified of his own farts! 😂.
He's also scared of anything that beeps (dishwasher, washing machine) sneezing, his own reflection and most embarrassing he is really judgy and HATES anyone who smokes..! Grin

StarryIllusion · 28/04/2017 22:27

The ironing board DDog1
The hoover Both
The hair dryer Both
Anything that hisses Ddog1 Confused make a Shht noise and she cowers and growls, it's so weird.
Anything noisy or taller than her. DD1 (yes she is a wimp)
Nail clippers DDog1
Anything falling over DDog1 Anything falling over has her running with her tail between her legs and jumping into my lap.
Black people and people dressed in dark clothing Ddog2 Confused No idea where that one came from as no one has ever raised a hand to him.
Bikes [Dog1]

As you can all see, Ddog1 is a total wimp and Ddog2 is just a weirdo.

Plainandsimple · 28/04/2017 23:40

Frogs

plominoagain · 29/04/2017 00:09

Hedgehogs . Send Boyhound into an absolute frenzy . Until one stopped dead crossing our country road and barked back at him . Who knew ? He cacked himself .

OrlandaFuriosa · 29/04/2017 00:43

The dark. What a wuss.

Fluorescent jackets esp on bin men, road menders etc
Postmen or maybe it's just pathological hatred
Loud noises. Not just fireworks but eg a door banging. What a wuss.

People in hoodies
Poodles. Too intelligent for him.
Black labradors, servants of the devil.

IDismyname · 29/04/2017 07:13

Old Clouddog will bark at a change in wind direction. His eyesight is now so bad, that barking is a natural way of being. Good job we don't have many close neighbours - and good job he sleeps for long periods in between the barking.

Slightly younger Clouddog seems to be pretty fearless. But will eat EVERYTHING she can.

NormaSmuff · 29/04/2017 07:42

bouncy fluffy dogs, puppies, Alsatians.
black bin liners
buses
children

Goodythreeshoes · 29/04/2017 07:46

Beards.

MrsMozart · 29/04/2017 08:09

Cardboard boxes and anyone in a hat. She's a GSD...

chickenowner · 29/04/2017 08:13

Wheelie bins being moved.
The lawnmower.
The vacuum cleaner.
Someone knocking on the door.
Horses walking past the house.
Anyone with a walking stick, walking frame, umbrella, crutch etc.
The coffee grinder.
The blender.

I could go on! Bless her, she's a rescue dog and has many, many issues!

purplecoathanger · 29/04/2017 08:13

Mine is afraid of things that are in places where they shouldn't be. For example when we were camping last year there was a boat in the field. She couldn't walk past it without shaking, yet she's fine with boats on the water.

Fcukthetww · 29/04/2017 08:17

Crockery. Never understood why but he hides if dishes are being done

Puppymouse · 29/04/2017 08:26

Doorways and thresholds, loud noises and sudden movements, all types of flooring bar carpet, horses, stairs, water (retriever Shock) and cars he's not keen on either - especially having to sit on back seat.

aliasjoey · 29/04/2017 11:05

Anything strangely humanoid e.g. Wheelie bins, snowmen, the chiminea

We once passed a man carrying a small child on his shoulders. Dog thought the guy had two heads!

burdog · 29/04/2017 12:17

This one bernese dog that must have looked at her wrong. Once she was afraid of the noise our coffee machine makes, and another time she got herself in a tizzy about an empty road?

pigsDOfly · 29/04/2017 12:38

She's been afraid of a few things over the years: kites, water, plastic bags, cats. But as she's grown up those fears seemed to have disappeared.

Currently though she's afraid of creepy crawlies. Any little creature crawling on the floor, even tiny ones, sends her heading up the stairs in a panic.

This started after she ate a spider, can only imagine it tasted foul and she's fearful that another one might accidentally get into her mouth.

MrsJayy · 29/04/2017 14:47

I think spiders must taste or smell rank jaydog screws his nose up when he tries to eat them

littlemissneela · 29/04/2017 15:41

Some of these are just hilarious Grin
My dog once had a face off in the garden with a .......leaf!
She doesn't like unexpected items in the normal walk route ie a traffic sign put up where there isnt one usually.
She hates the hoover.
Loves playing and destroying cardboard tubes but hates it if you talk through them.
Hate its when my son speaks to her in another language.
Once chased a black woman around a park bench (funny afterwards, but as the time as she had never done it before, I was a bit concerned as what she was going to do). So, she is another racist dog. My friends dog is also disabilist and barks at anyone in a wheelchair or with crutches.
Water. Any water. Especially moving water.
The vet.
Erm, I am sure there are more things.

(Photo is her face off with the dastardly leaf!)

Random shit you dog is scared of
Haffdonga · 29/04/2017 15:53

Haffdog gets hysterical when she catches sight of the dog that lives in our pond. The dog is only there on sunny days and looks very similar to her upsidedown. Every time Haffdog goes to check if the dog is still there, it comes back and looks at her. Despite Haffdog's endless barking it doesn't get out of the pond Confused
