AIBU to ask what is the thing you've done in 2016 that's made you proudest?

For me - despite being diagnosed with Cronh's disease, I carried on doing yoga classes all year. Now I'm looser, more relaxed, and a nagging shoulder pain from a 20 year car accident has gone.

What are you proudest of? It can be big, small or miniscule.

Had a Vbac and made it to six months breastfeeding despite undiagnosed (or late diagnosis by me) tongue tie.

ragz134 · 01/12/2016 18:21

Passed a chemistry gcse exam with only 5 months learning at home from books and YouTube. Got into uni, started my nursing degree!

myfavouritecolourispurple · 01/12/2016 18:25

Nothing, although I did a charity bike ride with work, but it was more of a jolly really, although we did have to cycle 100 miles a day for 3 days.

Otherwise, nothing much. I had a ballot place to do next year's London marathon and wimped out; so a pretty useless specimen really.

I voted Remain too - much good that did me. There are a couple of silver linings, my mortgage is paid off, I have an EU qualification (as long as Ireland stay in the EU!) and have Estonian e-residency so there is a little bit of Brexit insurance in place.

Oh just thought of another sporting one, I won a series prize at a local series of races because I ran them all.

braceybracegirl · 01/12/2016 18:25

Feetheart I want to start running again but had terrible shin pain before how can I find a running group with a coach? Sorry for hijack!

ispymincepie · 01/12/2016 18:27

Kept my baby exclusively on breastmilk for six months solely by pumping as he was unable to latch. I also gave birth to him at home without any pain relief or midwife. I know it's not very mumsnetty but I am very proud of that, it was such an empowering experience.

sortthetacheoutbernard · 01/12/2016 18:28

Well done. There's some great achievements here.

Mine is running a half marathon. I couldn't walk for a few years and have gradually learnt how to do it again over the last 2 years and run again Grin

Got massively back into fitness & weight training. Was feeling good.

Then got pregnant 2nd round of clomid with much wanted DC2.

Seeing our renovation project progress - still slowly but a huge difference from last year.

After this DC I plan to lose the baby weight & get my fitness levels back - for good.

livingthegoodlife · 01/12/2016 18:35

I'm feeling a bit sad that I'm not sure I've achieved anything? I'm proud of my kids bit that's not really me. I must be proud of something surely?!

Rinoachicken · 01/12/2016 18:36

I finally reported my husband for domestic abuse after six years and had him arrested. Now me and my two boys are FREE!!

MyWitlessPal · 01/12/2016 18:38

Watched a student with autism I taught one-to-one receive a grade C in the subject.

Opened my own bookshop.

Saved my mum's life after I guessed she had a PE (her GP missed it).

ThanksSpanx · 01/12/2016 18:39

Massive high five Rino! Grin

Thatwaslulu · 01/12/2016 18:42

Finally finished my Level 5 diploma after 4 years of blood sweat and tears

Moved sideways at work into a team that values me and a role that makes me happier

Reelected president of my union's sector - this time on merit rather than by default

Notonthestairs · 01/12/2016 18:42

Brilliant inspiring thread.
Listening to my DD read. She has significant SEN and this year I decided that come what may we would read something, even if it was just a handful of words, everyday. She's now moving through the reading levels with confidence (heart burst emoji).
Being told by others what a happy DS I have - he's not had a straight run at things.
I've put in to motion a few plans for next year which I had been delaying partly through inertia/fear.
And I ran the Great North Run. Oh and I managed to hold my tongue in situations where previously I may have shouted first and thought second (I may finally be maturing).

JennaRainbow · 01/12/2016 18:43

I had my second daughter, and she's obviously amazing. Had quite bad pnd but getting so much better, feeling myself again!

MissWillaCather · 01/12/2016 18:44

Yes, mum2bomg , I couldn't believe it either 😊

Trufflethewuffle · 01/12/2016 18:46

Finally lost 3 and a half stone and feel so much better (still 2 and a half to go but I will get there).

Plucked up the courage to challenge my eldest sister on her racism and bigotry instead of biting my tongue and letting her get away with it. Not sure what the longer term repercussions will be but I feel so glad I have done it.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 01/12/2016 18:47

Struggled through pnd, got myself back to work and kept breastfeeding my dairy-allergic ds to 16 months (and counting) even though it means expressing a ridiculous amount at work. Recovered some of the damage that pnd did to my relationship with dh (still some work to do!)

Drquin · 01/12/2016 18:59

After being "jolly" and "larger than life personality" all my adult life, I went to SW in January and have now lost 4 1/2 stone (with a few more to go!)

I am however still struggling with the "oh you must be feeling so much better" question from well-meaning friends and family. I genuinely don't know how to answer. I feel like I can't say "yes" because it betrays the old me, and the loads of lovely folk who happen to also be overweight. I've got a self-deprecating sense of humour, so I manage to get away with an "oh yeah, bloody amazing" Grin

Blackfellpony · 01/12/2016 19:05

Another who had a baby- 2016 has been crazy since then!

derxa · 01/12/2016 19:06

You're all brilliant!!!!

LifeLong13 · 01/12/2016 19:09

I've kept us all alive in this house with a DD of 16 months who only sleeps in 2 hour bursts! And we're still breastfeeding!

It's been a hard year yet we will see in 2017 with each other and plenty of love.

Haven't got a pot to piss in but we've got love Xmas Grin

user1471463681 · 01/12/2016 19:10

Adopted a sad rescue dog and watched her become happy and confident Smile

AlmaWhittaker · 01/12/2016 19:18

Got my brother's name on the sex offender's register

Bangers123456789 · 01/12/2016 19:20

Finally learning to stand up for myself and recognising when I am being abused and manipulated.
Rekindling my relationship with my mum.
I also turned vegetarian. Smile
