AIBU to ask what is the thing you've done in 2016 that's made you proudest?

For me - despite being diagnosed with Cronh's disease, I carried on doing yoga classes all year. Now I'm looser, more relaxed, and a nagging shoulder pain from a 20 year car accident has gone.

What are you proudest of? It can be big, small or miniscule.

I did six 10k races before my son's first birthday. I only started running about a year before I got pregnant and stopped almost completely when I was pregnant, so I was incredibly proud of myself for getting back out there.

2016 has been a massive year of change for me but in all honesty the thing I'm proudest of personally (rather than vicarious pride through my kids) is getting on top of training my dog properly. It took several different behaviourists to find the right fit but I stuck with her advice even though it was a lot of work and now have a much happier pooch and less stress.

Thumbcat · 01/12/2016 16:22

I got a new job; one I really wanted.

amusedbush · 01/12/2016 16:28

I got married; I tackled my debt head-on by setting up a plan with Step Change; I finished my HNC after two years of evening classes; I started a part time degree and I got a promotion at work. It has been a busy year in the Amused household!

GeminiRising · 01/12/2016 16:31

Getting fit and losing 4 stone after years of being hugely overweight and very unfit - and doing it by myself with no slimmers classes or exercise groups.

Next year the challenge is keeping it off! Oh, and doing the Hadrian's Wall coast to coast walk in 5 days!

Viewofhedges · 01/12/2016 16:32

I got a new job. I've been self employed for a few years post redundancy but I was really struggling. So I took the plunge with a new post - something I've not done before - and got my first official report last week, they said I was 'outstanding.' So I'm proud of myself for not being too proud to try something new (though I'm still fed up that self employment didn't go so well).

eggyface · 01/12/2016 16:33

Voted remain. And campaigned.

RocketPockets · 01/12/2016 16:34

I had my baby boy and got quite bad post natal anxiety and I'm overcoming it. Not many people know but I am oddly proud of how far I have come when I look back at how bad I was! Smile

Redrocketship · 01/12/2016 16:34

Learned to drive finally and passed my test.

Isitadoubleentendre · 01/12/2016 16:34

Ummmm, not a lot really - same as most other years. Im not much of an achiever to be honest! Managed not to just walk straight out of my job?!

foxessocks · 01/12/2016 16:35

Had my ds

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 01/12/2016 16:36

Got a distinction on an Open University course, my first exam in over 20 years.

StrawberryMouse · 01/12/2016 16:38

OhFuckOff · 01/12/2016 16:40

MrBloomIsActuallyAttractive · 01/12/2016 16:42

DollyMcDolly · 01/12/2016 16:42

IcedVanillaLatte · 01/12/2016 16:44

Finished the first year of my college course with 100% Distinctions :)

starchildareyoulistening · 01/12/2016 16:45

Wow, there are some brilliant achievements on here! I've had a bit of a shit year, I suppose the best I can say is that I'm still working and have avoided having to take sick leave.

IcedVanillaLatte · 01/12/2016 16:45

That is, all my grades were distinctions; we don't get %age grades Grin

derxa · 01/12/2016 16:46

Sold a sheep for £1400 Got my Quality meat Scotland accreditation

fruityb · 01/12/2016 16:48

Had my son, had classes achieve excellent results in the summer and have accepted my changed and amazing body. I weirdly have lost a lot of my body issues since having him and have embraced my stretch marks and jiggly tummy. Might sound weird but as someone who hated themself that's a massive deal!

Unicornsarelovely · 01/12/2016 16:49

Ran a half marathon in less than 2:30. I'd been injured 3 years ago and hadn't run since so got there from 0 in January. It's also really improved my mental health. I now just need to clear this bastarding cold to get back out!

IcedVanillaLatte · 01/12/2016 16:51

That's one pricey sheep.

RortyCrankle · 01/12/2016 16:51

Voted Leave in the Referendum Smile

derxa · 01/12/2016 16:53

That's one pricey sheep. Well I almost bought one for £7000 but sense prevailed.
