Most of the time I have detol hand soap in my bathrooms but if I know someone is visiting my home I get out the posh L'Occitane matching soap and moisturiser stuff I recieved for Christmas a few years back. Surely people notice it's always the same amount of fullness each time they visit? Plus who has enough time to moisturise their hands every time they wash them with a toddler in the house. Jesus if Im more than 15 seconds having a wee he'll be banging the door down wanting to come in or he will have jammed quavers in the xbox. There's no time for the luxury of hand moistorusing. Plus it's a bugger keeping a grip on his squirmy hands St the best of times let alone adding lubrication into the mix.

When my guests leave, back it goes under the sink so as not to waste it.

I also like the fruit bowl to be bursting with beautiful fruit. We always have bananas and satsumas but for some reason a pineapple just makes my mundane life feel that little bit more exotic. "Ooh look at wiggles84 she must peel her pineapple fresh each morning for her delightful childs breakfast". No a quick bit of toast and a banana and we're off to start our days. No one's got time for that surely?

None of us even like pineapple Shock

I know, I know I shouldn't care what people think but what little things do you project to the world so as to not to appear the frazzled dog tired slutten you are?

Gin I hope the delay in a photo appearing, is because you're frantically cleaning and staging the fake washing up area Grin I can't wait to see it! And I also want Harvey Nicks washing up liquid now!

FriendofBill · 06/10/2016 14:11

I don't do owt either.
I don't have time.
If I remember I check the loos.

I'm also someone who doesn't save for best. I enjoy using my gifts/luxe products daily on myself!

GinAndOnIt · 06/10/2016 14:12

Right, here we are. First pic is the kitchen, but the sink in the background is the bathroom sink. Second pic is round the corner on the left - kitchen sink. So, we have two sinks in almost touching distance, and no sinks anywhere else in the house! It's really fun walking from the hob to the sink with a pan of boiling water, especially when the cat is around.

I love the idea of idea of stunt pineapple.

TheTurtleMoves · 06/10/2016 14:20

LOL-ing in an impressed sort of way at the stunt washing up paraphernalia. I heart you Gin

Babymamaroon · 06/10/2016 14:23

I don't change anything for guests. Always have handwash in the guest loo and bathroom etc.

I keep all my gorgeous products in MY bathroom where only I get to use them Grin

Gowgirl · 06/10/2016 14:24

Oh, its lovely gin, the wooden brush is a great touch! You also have a great kitchen.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 06/10/2016 14:28

Gin your fake washing up area is a thing of beauty Grin

GinAndOnIt · 06/10/2016 14:28

It appears somebody has been using the washing up liquid though, but at least it makes it look more believeable Wink

I've ordered a different soap dispenser too, but it's going to have to hide away for a little while so DP doesn't notice I've spent yet more money on the staged area.

HairsprayBabe · 06/10/2016 14:31

Oh Gin that is so lovely! Might have to photograph my recipe book stand if the kitchen is clean enough

NameChanger22 · 06/10/2016 14:32

Nothing at all. With new people I make the sure the toilet is clean and there are no cat hairs on the stairs, with old friends I don't bother.

TheSnorkMaidenReturns · 06/10/2016 14:32

My house is always so perfect I don't need to do anything.

GinAndOnIt · 06/10/2016 14:33

Hairspray yes do! so I can copy

ChequeOff · 06/10/2016 14:44

Gin That is truly a masterpiece! Bravo!

StillRabbit · 06/10/2016 14:54

As other posters have said, I use the best I have all the time. I wear my lovely fragrance every day. I have nice soap and washing up liquid because I like it. I use my best china for all meals (I got rid of my old "everyday china").

When my mum died in her fifties she left behind several bottles of expensive perfume that she always saved for a special occasion, an amazing (though not to my taste) bone china dinner service that my Dad brought from the Far East before they were married which I had only seen used about three times, and beautiful table and bed linen which she was saving for a special occasion. She died before a special enough occasion came around.

I'm going to use my best until it wears out....

softboiledeggs · 06/10/2016 15:03

I love this thread! Nice to know it's not just me! Need to up my game on the washing area now I've seen gins!
I have display towels, brand new cloth / sponge comes out, I also have posh coffee for guests as we don't drink it, fresh flowers and the fruit bowl gets plumped up. Must now buy fancy washing up liquid and hand moisturiser Grin

KoalaDownUnder · 06/10/2016 15:14

Gin, I love your house! (And washing-up area Grin)

GinAndTunic · 06/10/2016 15:35

Gin, your washing-up tableau is gorgeous.

I love this thread so much.

MarklahMarklah · 06/10/2016 15:38

Nothing, I can't be bothered. If you don't like us as we are then don't come 'round!
I do put extra bathroom towels out in the spare room if someone is staying though.

VforVienetta · 06/10/2016 15:57

OP needs a NC to StuntPineapple stat.

GinAndOnIt · 06/10/2016 16:24

Agreed Vienetta

Myredrose · 06/10/2016 16:28

Superb Gin, I had those washing up brushes and the spare heads, they are useless to use for real.

AmeliaJack · 06/10/2016 16:48

Gin that really is quite lovely.

You do realised that you have inspired fake washing up stations up and down the country don't you?

YellowCrocus · 06/10/2016 16:53

I also like a bursting fruit bowl with interesting fruit - once around Halloween I had a few stunt baby squash. Lovely they were, all different autumn hues. I've never eaten a squash in my life. Hmm

Other than that, I like some fresh flowers, and to have the candlesticks replenished. But not with fresh candles, as that would look too staged. So I preburn them, obvs. Blush
