AIBU to want to talk to my 14yo about where this pill came from?

(Name changed) This morning, when doing my usual domestic goddess routine (I've, trying to shove as much crap from around the house into cupboards etc) I found a tablet under a cushion on a chair we have on the landing. Didn't look like it'd been deliberately hidden, at best, just almost dropped there so when I moved the cushion, I saw it.

Long story short, it seems like a street drug. It's roughly pressed, into a triangle and it's half pink, half white, with a triangle pattern on the white side. No drug number/company etc. Have checked on line and with pharmacist friend who doesn't recognise it either.
I have three kids, DS14, DS8 and DD5. The eldest is a good kid, doing well at school, sporty and engaged with school. Bit temperamental at home, sulky, messy, glued to phone... Nothing novel I would say.

Would like to talk to him about this pill, but AIBU? It certainly belongs to no one else in the house, but I have no evidence it belongs to him either (or without testing, that it really is MDMA or whatever). It doesn't seem to have been deliberately hidden, in fact, it's in a public place outside his sister's room - why do that if you're hiding something? So I do have doubts that it's his, but who else's, as he hasn't had friends around recently.

I don't want to be accusatory or confrontational but just ask calmly what, if anything, he can tell me. I want to give him every chance to come clean if necessary, but use it as a chance to talk about it, while also reminding him that his dad and I are in lines of work that regard drug use as a MASSIVE, pension losing deal.

I experimented with drugs at college and don't want to get preachy, but I feel it should be addressed. I thought I'd like to calmly talk about it, then throw in some contact numbers like Frank. Let him call if or when he wants to...whether or not he admits to it being his.

Am I being too weak? I feel that unless I have more evidence, I have to be careful not to alienate... Anyone have any experience of things such as this?

OutwardBound2016 · 19/04/2016 12:48

I still tease my mum about thinking my brother had gone 'off the rails' due to drug taking, she showed me the evidence....I ate it on the basis that it was a smint!

123rd · 19/04/2016 12:48

Op will be loving All of us if it's not a mint Confused

WorriedofMiltonKeynes · 19/04/2016 12:49

FFS, it's a fucking SWEET, a 'been-down-the-back-of-the-cushion-so -slightly-rank' sweet.

Phew!

Kudos for licking it!

TheImprobableGirl · 19/04/2016 12:51

Could be a limited edition smint?

TheSpottedZebra · 19/04/2016 12:51

Who said that 'pills' are upwards of a tenner?
Oddly, I was talking to an Mk late teens the other month about drugs and what people were doing and how much they cost. He had taken part in a research project!?

Anyway, he said that 'pills' were about £7 each. Cheaper than drinking. What's in the pill i asked? Erm, probably e he said.

We're we so laid back about exactly what we were taking? I guess we were, but it seems madness.

SaucyJack · 19/04/2016 12:52

Hahaha!

All jokes aside- that's one fuck of a relief.

Owllady · 19/04/2016 12:52

:o

19909ninty · 19/04/2016 12:52

Pills are very widely sold they're extremely easy to get hold of

MTPurse · 19/04/2016 12:53

Haha, This is brilliant.

BabyGanoush · 19/04/2016 12:53

ooooh, was following this with baited breath Grin

edwardsmum11 · 19/04/2016 12:53

Lol, made my day.
If it's been down there too long it may well be funky so beware of what you do.

edwardsmum11 · 19/04/2016 12:54

Ninty it was a sweet

19909ninty · 19/04/2016 12:55

No I know but someone said they're hard to get hold of, they're naive for thinking that

WorriedofMiltonKeynes · 19/04/2016 12:55

improbable def not a smint, but that's the colour. Obviously a Smint rip off! Indeterminate flavour, but have eaten 1/4 of it now and still boring and middle-aged.

Oh, the shame. You've saved me from certain maternal drug-based humiliation. My poor son. Shock

TheImprobableGirl · 19/04/2016 12:55

A tenner each ?! Shock we could buy E at £3 a pop!

Fratelli · 19/04/2016 12:55

7 pound pills won't have much in them! I'm in Lincolnshire though where a tenner is about standard. With the online drugs market too everything has changed in a few short years.

Fratelli · 19/04/2016 12:57

199 they're not hard to get hold of. Just less common as powder is more likely to be sold.

19909ninty · 19/04/2016 12:57

Not in Liverpool Manchester or Essex, people prefer pills there.

Suppose it depends where you are

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/04/2016 12:58

Oh, the shame. You've saved me from certain maternal drug-based humiliation. My poor son.

I think you should show him this thread Grin

SaucyJack · 19/04/2016 12:59

The awkward moment when you attempt to take more drugs than your teenage son.

WorriedofMiltonKeynes · 19/04/2016 13:01

Ooo. Interesting stuff now.

By the way - if you hear some news story about a mum of three from the Beds area struck down in some terrible smint related drug overdose... Can you tell them what you all know? TY
