AIBU to think that comprehension just isn't a strong point with some people.

I've noticed this quite a lot over the time I have on MN.

Referring to a recent thread re early retirement. The poster quite clearly stated that DH wanted to retire in 14 months (when mortgage paid) and wanted her to retire at the same time. She is 10 years his junior and works part time.

OK, first answer was "So he wants you both to retire in early forties"

Second response "Can you change to part time work"

I can understand this if we were 10 pages into the thread because we don't all have time to read all responses, but come on, the first two responses?

OP posts:

Link to the peer-reviewed research on this please?

MackerelOfFact · 30/09/2014 11:42

Why can't he just take the bus? He's 6 FFS.

DinoSnores · 30/09/2014 11:47

I know you say that your 9 month old is reciting Shakespeare and writing epic poetry along the lines of Homer in six languages that he's taught himself, but he just sounds ordinary to me. Why don't just you just try to enjoy him? My son however...

Jill2015 · 30/09/2014 11:48

It's Friday night, why wouldn't you allow your neighbours to have their weekly party (consisting of ear splitting music blasting the neighbourhood)... Unclench OP.

Downamongtherednecks · 30/09/2014 11:51

sootgremlin so-called experts don't know everything, you know. Just trust your instincts and ignore the exhaustively tested Big Pharma vaccines and use tea-tree oil.

magpiegin · 30/09/2014 11:53

Even though the landlord wants to sell his house because his wife is pregnant with quads and just been made redundant you should refuse to move out and not pay rent as he is clearly a greedy money grabbing arsehole.

MackerelOfFact · 30/09/2014 12:00

You do realise that most employers will just throw his CV straight in the bin the degree isn't from a Russel Group uni, don't you?

Sootgremlin · 30/09/2014 12:25

I know you asked for tumble drier recommendations, but actually you'll be pleased to hear you don't need one. It really is no hassle to drape wet washing over every surface in your tiny damp Victorian terrace for days on end.

Yes it is difficult with twins in washables and a potty training toddler, but we manage fine doing this for two adults and a teenager in our dedicated utility room, you can too.

Gruntfuttock · 30/09/2014 12:33

Look, I've told you a MILLION times! Don't exaggerate! Angry

Sootgremlin · 30/09/2014 12:40

If it were a male friend your husband was shagging texting, would you feel quite so strongly about it OP? I share beds and showers with friends of the opposite sex all the time, perfectly normal IMO.

SaucyJack · 30/09/2014 12:44

Have PM'ed you OP.

UterusUterusGhali · 30/09/2014 12:45

Those shoes which you can actually walk in for twelve hours a day with plantar faciitis; fugly.

UterusUterusGhali · 30/09/2014 12:46

Ooh ooh, Saucy! PM me! Wink

BeckAndCall · 30/09/2014 12:55

Sorry! Wrong thread

as you were....

MackerelOfFact · 30/09/2014 13:04

Go on the Book People website and order their sets of children's story books.

bleedingheart · 30/09/2014 13:06

Hmm I'd like to hear the other side of the OP. I think that would make interesting reading.

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 30/09/2014 13:11

What bleedingheart says. You're all responding assuming that what the OP says is true, but she might be lying about everything. So I'm going to construct my own response based on that premise and then when people object I'm going to act as though I am serving some noble higher philosophical cause.

phonebox · 30/09/2014 13:15

Actually, she's a very highly respected human-rights lawyer with a banging CV.

Twitterqueen · 30/09/2014 13:19

Did you mean to be so rude?

SaucyJack · 30/09/2014 13:27

Are you calling me a troll uterus?

UterusUterusGhali · 30/09/2014 13:43

No, saucy, but have my first ever Biscuit

Fullpleatherjacket · 30/09/2014 13:52

I think we've all lost sight of the issue here... no wonder the OP hasn't come back!

If you're still reading OP, then I hope everything goes okay with your retirement! Is your DH going to be retiring at the same time? You could buy one of those campervans and travel the country together!
