AIBU to ask DH to wear underpants?

JuniorMumber · 03/09/2014 22:13

Ever since we've lived together my DH has always enjoyed relaxing around the house with just a t-shirt on and no under garments. We jokingly refer to it as 'Donald Ducking'. Now that we've had a baby (six weeks ago today!) I think it's time he started wearing under crackers around the house. It just seems more appropriate. AIBU to ask this of him?

Get a muumuu TOMORROW. Do not wait for Christmas.

JuniorMumber · 03/09/2014 23:45

BOF - you make a very valid point about the a-sexual nature of Winnie and co. They should not be used to euphemise the whole sordid situ

Doesn't he look even more ridiculous erm leaving the room than coming into it?

Canyouforgiveher · 03/09/2014 23:51

Doesn't seeing a man in a tshirt and nothing else turn you off OP? I remember years ago at an office outing we all drank a bit too much and said what we wore to bed (dead boring generally) and my then older boss said he wore a tshirt but no underpants and I thought it would be like being in bed with a toddler - awful image I could never erase.

MistressDeeCee · 03/09/2014 23:56

"I will tackle this issue head on tomorrow"

OP I suppose it really will be "head on", won't it Grin

Funniest thread Ive read in ages

As for "He also prides himself on having a meticulously clean starfish"

FLATLINE

JuniorMumber · 03/09/2014 23:56

Canyou - yes it does, I am not a fan.

Attempting to get some sleep before the 2am feed.

If anyone has any further advice on how to implement this pant wearing, please share and I will check in later

My DH's input is "She should glue his arsehole shut"
HTH...

combust22 · 04/09/2014 08:06

What reasons does he give? Is it a comfort thing? To display? Does he like to touch it a lot?

Cerisier · 04/09/2014 08:20

If you have no luck with reasonableness and itching powder this problem might solve itself in a few months. When the baby is crawling all over him he might want protection from wandering hands and kicking feet.

redexpat · 04/09/2014 08:22

Is your name charlotte york? Grin

PacificDogwood · 04/09/2014 08:31

This thread just keeps on giving - sleepy aardvark, less penisy (although the muumuu idea is genius), starfish Grin

TipsyKisses has linked to the fart thread.
Here is my contribution which scientifically shows that wearing pants stops tiny poo particles from floating around when passing flatus

I sincerely hope you find a solution to the problem - although I have to also agree small hand reaching for something to help them pull themselves up might just do that for you Grin

AnimalsAreMyFriends · 04/09/2014 08:35

Oh dear lord Shock

The laughter, derision & pointing that would accompany any similar behaviour in this house, would shame dh into putting his skonks back on!!!

I am Sheldon Cooper a creature of habit, and have a designated 'spot' on the sofa - if a bare arse ever touched that spot, it would be ejected onto the street, never to return!!!

Good luck with your job in hand.......

FunkyBoldRibena · 04/09/2014 08:38

Itching powder might be your only option OP.

I have to say that I would be buerking at this. A little funny for the first 5 minutes. Not funny at any time after that.

When my OH even walks around the house in socks and pants we say 'it's a look but not a good one dear'

I cannot get the image out of my head of your husband with his little aardvark snuggled on his thigh of an evening. The only time penises [peni?] should be seen is when they are just about to pop into action IMHO. Otherwise, no thanks, not necessary.

Incidentally - itching powder comes from rosehips which are just about in abundance at the moment. So save yourself a few £ and go get some fresh.

Stupidhead · 04/09/2014 08:51

Does he look like a bike rack when he's bent over, playing with your baby?

He needs some support! My ex once bent over naked when getting changed once. His balls were down by his knees, our toddler wandered in and ran off screaming about Chicken Licken and Turkey Lurkey.

SmashleyHop · 04/09/2014 08:56

Can I suggest this for a compromise? I know it does nothing to help the starfish situation but you can get them to fit in with each holiday!!

AIBU to ask DH to wear underpants?
Passthecake30 · 04/09/2014 08:56

See I poodle about in a nightdress after my bath, but it covers my bum and bits.....maybe suggest a long old fashioned nightie??!!!

My dp wears tshirt and pants round the house all the time. The kids point and laugh and ask where his clothes are. I'm sure if u wait a few years and get him a special mat in the meantime your problem will be solved for you

ArcheryAnnie · 04/09/2014 08:58

You have my every sympathy, OP, and I, too, am amazed you got over the outfit long enough to find him irresistable enough to make a baby.

YANBU. He's not a two-year-old at the beach, he's a grown man living with other people. A pair of kecks won't kill him.

Snatchoo · 04/09/2014 09:05

Ew ew ew.

The second I read the OP I thought of that pic that Bulbasaur posted upthread! Grim as anything.

ON the odd occasion DH has put t shirt on before pants I have commented negatively. Poo crumbs aside, it just looks gross!

AWombWithoutARoof · 04/09/2014 09:10

Is your sofa leather or fabric? Not sure what would be worse, a squelchy adhesion of the ball sack to the cushions or having to go over the corduroy with a wallpaper scraper every time he's sat down.

Stupidhead · 04/09/2014 09:38

Google image 'kilt stool' Smile

I just snorted my coffee out

AgathaF · 04/09/2014 09:58

Well, this thread has certainly been an eye opener. Just imagining all the poor midwives and health visitors who may have sat on 'his' chair, given that you've just had a baby.

Tis strange behaviour!

CadleCrap · 04/09/2014 10:06
