Today, after watching the film Space Camp, I have launched a new ambition....to be the first person to have baby in SPACE. Neat huh!

I've had to drag out my old 1991 diary thanks to this thread, and spent the past hour curling up in mortification at my 17 year old self. Oh the dramas! I am almost moved to message old school friends on FaceBook and apologise for twattish behaviour, twenty odd years too late.

It's the poetry that's the most toe curling though. I give you:

Do you know what your eyes do to me?
I think perhaps you do.
They have the same effect on many a girl
Who happens to look at you.
I've seen a lot of ol' blue eyes
And long black curly lashes,
But yours really do surpass them all
When magnified by glasses.

I am CRYING! That is outstanding Grin

It's even beaten the fact that Catherine's break up was bigger news than war!

Haha - i love 'WAR CARRIES ON' about three days after it breaks out. Grin

that reminds me of the time my DS had to do a project on heroes and he picked Winston Churchill. He went into really elaborate detail throughout most of it, but then obviously ran out of steam towards the end, as he wrote:

Chapter 6: The war continues, then ends.

Succinct and to the point, I thought. Grin

"Went to town. I forgot my dress so I couldn't buy anything." I'm intrigued by forgetting your dress so you couldn't buy anything - did you need matching accessories, or something?

No idea! I am as clueless as you.

So have you had a baby in space yet?

No, but I had 2 homebirths and may as well have been planning a space birth given people's reactions to the idea Smile

So you and Helen had a Dirty Dancing routine which you did in the library. Erm... why the library?

Because we were Librarians of course!

Jan 3 1990. Have realised that no matter how careful I am, someone might read this diary e.g. if house is burgled or bag stolen. So I will write the rest of this diary in code.

You need to post the rest of it, see if we can crack it together!

Tell you what's sobering. Anne Frank kept her diary at about this age.
Much more eloquent than mine.
Wonder if there was an editing decision not to include her poetry?

Anniemousse, I'm so sorry you can't remember about the dress Smile - I had visions of you going shopping semi-clothed, for some weird reason Blush

I was well old in 1991. I'm even well older now Grin

You've inspired me, I've ordered a luxury notebook. Going to start writing in it as often as possible.

I used to keep diaries, and like most by the end of January the routine of writing in it had gone tits up. No idea where the are now, at my mum's house somewhere no doubt.

30 isn't too old to start keeping a diary again is it? Grin

This is amazing, good on you for sharing Annie. I guarantee that my own diary in 1998 when I was 12 would have read spookily similarly... Particularly with regards to Sweet Valley High and Babysitters Club, plus the addition of Goosebumps Grin

Rhubarb that poem is pure gold, "when magnified by glasses" has brightened my day no end!
