Today, after watching the film Space Camp, I have launched a new ambition....to be the first person to have baby in SPACE. Neat huh!

Love it vlad

Thanks HighlanderMam for the classics nomination, now my teenage diary is viewable to all, for all eternity Grin Go for it with your diary, looking forward to hearing extracts from it in a year or two.

vlad I did get the puppy, form the RSPCA, he had come in with his 2 brothers and his mum who was a long haired black mongrel
He turned out to be very similar looking to a sheltie, he was my first dog, and I trained him to do loads. He died in 2007 aged 17

Thanks for sharing everyone. This thread has had me crying with laughter Grin.

I kept diaries from the age of 7 till my late teens (I had no life!). They're all in a box somewhere. I'll need to dig them out. I remember a lot of poetry and angst Blush but this thread has made me realise childish angst can actually be quite funny in retrospect like the bath pearls trauma!

Annie

Never before have I read something so like my own diaries. I am the same age as you, kept a diary every day for at least 6 years (actually 2 diaries - one for day to day recording like yours and one reserved for longer angst, naval gazing and boy hit lists). Like you I also went through a phase of church youth groups. I remember my diaries being a curious mixture of extreme innocence and distinctly less innocent love troubles. Obviously over the 6 year period the balance tips towards the later. My first diary entry in my longer diary was a careful ranking if my cousins in order of preference so obviously top secret hence the first page warning:

"If this book should tend to roam, smack its bum and send it home to..."

I was recently given a huge stack of letters I wrote as a child/teen with some cracking lines. In one thank you letter I start with the usual thanks for the gift but before moving on to general life news include a short paragraph unrelated to any other part of the letter which simply reads "Dad says he would rather be married to mum than princess Di"

Thank you for making me cry with laughter this evening

Flowers for this Sebbysmummy

"Never before have I read something so like my own diaries"

And to everyone else who has said similar.

At the age I was writing these I felt so different to everyone else. Not in a good way: odd, abnormal, lonely. No-one could possibly understand my unique circumstances and feelings. Age, maturity, reflection and now, all of you, have shown that actually, I was very, very typical.

I would not be a teenager again for anything.

This is great! I turned 3 in 91.

I'm afraid my efforts are minimal. I got a diary when I was 7.

January 1 1996

I'm going to write in you everyday.

That was it.

I might start one for BabyElf though.

noidles you are? That's amazing! I wish you would say who you were, but I totally understand not wanting to be outed. I read it every now and again for a giggle. Everyone thinks they're alone when they're a teenager, but we all go through the same serious-but-actually-hilarious stuff. And thankfully some of us don't mind sharing it Grin

Am only half way through this glorious glorious fred but just wanted to say that a friend found a copy if The Jason Donovan Game in a charity shop recently and it is amazing. Sample question: "Is Jason in favour of nuclear disarmament?" (Yes, that's a real one...)
(I was 11 in 91 and too busy writing cringeworthy stories to keep a diary)

Loving this thread too. I was also 12 in 1991 and have just had a good laugh reading through January's entries. I noted I was "dead scared" when the war broke out (I definitely remember stealing that exact phrase from Adrian Mole!) and then promptly forgot about it.

Annie I found my from 1991. You'll be pleased to know I also watched Spacecamp! I had no dreams of having the first baby in space though. I wasn't as skill as you!

Bahahahaha this thread is brilliant, love it! Grin
I'm actually CRYING at that poem. magnified by glasses. Genius!
I've got loads of diaries filled with shite from between approx 1990 to 1996. Was 13 in 1990. I now feel the urge to post my own little gems. Just had a quick look through, and OMG, it's embarrassing lol.
Everyone else has such succinct, little entries though. I waffle on and have pages full of drivel! Blush
Oh, and I'm a regular but have namechanged for this thread. Grin
