Today, after watching the film Space Camp, I have launched a new ambition....to be the first person to have baby in SPACE. Neat huh!

Took sweets for Angela and fixed everything up. Got a verruca. I think it's from borrowing Angela's socks in Games (I forgot mine).

This is great. Think I'll dig mine out tomorrow. I wrote for a good few years at that age. Similar 3 line insight to our young selves Grin

Didn't do much today; went to see Grandad and his dog! Went to Church, War's still on. Decided to write poetry.

Poetry coming along famously. Catherine's going with Tim now, she doesn't really like him, she likes Pollard and James.

Thankfully, there is no actual poetry in the diary for me to share

I kept diaries from the age of 11 till about 16. I can't read them without wincing. There are also a couple of books of god-awful poetry somewhere, that must never, ever be read. In fact, I really must seek them out and destroy them.

Did 'Cooper Test'. Amy Smith acted hard, no results yet with Benny but Anniemousse always get what she wants.

What's Cooper test? I never got what I wanted, sadly

An emotional day! Catherine asked Russ out for me, I don't know yet, Amy twatted Caroline, really bad. Danielle is evil.

Amy and Danielle = school hard girls
I had forgotten about Catherine asking Russ out at this age. I remember we flirted and I fancied him like mad when we were a bit older, maybe 15. He finally asked me out and I told him I would tell him tomorrow. I had every intention of saying 'yes' but word got around my friends and they all laughed and mocked him, so I said 'no' when tomorrow came. Sad
He was a lovely boy, too, and we got on really well. One of my few regrets, that.

Thanks for this! I have one diary, it's an ET diary,so must have been early 80's, and I was about 12. Every day I comment on missing my father, being angry with my mother, and hating my step father. It's like I never did anything else but feel those things!

This is so like mine from the same age. I found it when I was staying over at my mum and dad's a couple of years ago and ended up staying up to read it all till 2 in the morning. Best laugh I'd had in ages.

It is honestly as if someone else wrote it, isn't it?!

Mine was also embarrassingly full of the latest gossip from Dynasty and The Colby's. Lots of "saw this dead good programme about ghosts" rubbish too. And "spots are really bad at the moment - not good".

"Saw Steve in biology. I'm sure he looked at me."
"Morton Harket was on Saturday Superstore - he is sooooooo gorgeous."
"Had Hamwich for tea - tasty!!"

Hmm

Sue Townsend is a genius. You read Adrian Mole and then you read an actual 13 year old's diary and they are very similar!

I thought that too Curlyhaired that it sounds like Adrian Mole in places.

I thought it was a little Adrian Mole in places. Fantastic read!

My friend and I had a book we used to write notes back and forward to each other in at school. V.Cringeworthy (as my 13year old self would say!)

Please continue!
