Today, after watching the film Space Camp, I have launched a new ambition....to be the first person to have baby in SPACE. Neat huh!

Claire had forgotten to invite me so all is well! Nothing really happened today except Church Youth Club came over for pancakes and a general doss.

You can't stop 4 days before valentine's day! How will we ever find out if your One True Love (TM) was reciprocated?

Lilly20again · 18/02/2014 19:10

Got off with!!! Too funny. I so remember that.

I burnt mine, sort of wish I had kept the diaries from sixth form. I was in panic that someone would read them.

I had a major obsession with an odd boy, which I'm a bit sad about now. should have just shagged around, your only young once

MinesAPintOfTea · 18/02/2014 19:13

x-post

You didn't record who it was off? Or if Benny liked your card? Sad

Rhubarbgarden · 18/02/2014 19:25

I'm glad you all enjoyed my poem. There are stacks more, mostly turgid angsty navel gazing. I had such a crush on that boy with the glasses though; a good third are outpourings of unrequited love for him. I bumped into him at a wedding a decade later, by then he was wearing contact lenses and even more drop dead gorgeous. I ended up going out with him for a couple of years, but he was a bit of a prat really so when his hairline started receding I ended it

Sparklegeek · 18/02/2014 19:30

I kept a diary every day between the ages of 18 & 23. It is toe-curling Blush But every now & then I do like to dip in & out & pretend I am that person again. And no, I won't be serialising that on here!

springlamb · 18/02/2014 19:35

I have my 1981 diary when I was 14. I read it when I want to prove to myself that I really did make a little progress along the road to sanity.
Most of the year is taken up with the angst of being a New Romantic in a house where music stopped with Jim Reeves.
Much is obscured by the practice signatures of the many men I would actually never marry. Hence we have Springlamb Kemp, Springlamb Taylor, Springlamb Ure and Springlamb Strange on one occasion. There are plans to find a way into the Camden Palace.
It all ends sadly in August when I manage to kiss Raymond. No, I don't recall him either.

thegreylady · 18/02/2014 19:43

I have mine from when I was 9 (1953) and I love reading it.
30th April 1953
My aunty had a baby, it is quite nice I think. My mammy says it is a bony(bonny?) little thing. Its name will be Margaret because it is a girl and a sister for Paul.
3rd June 1953
Coronation Day. I have a cardboard coach and horses to cut out,I must be careful of the lines. It is fancy dress today and I will be a televison, my daddy made me an aireel.

The baby, my cousin, will be 61 in April and is a grandma :)

Rhubarbgarden · 18/02/2014 19:48

Greylady that is so sweet! Smile

PeaceEagle · 18/02/2014 19:55

Thanks so much for sharing this. I was 16 in 1991, but I remember my 1987 ramblings surprisingly well. I would write a long litany of woe, and end it with "c'est la vie! (That's life in French)". Such a prat. Also did the lists of boys which would change order every day.

Edenviolet · 18/02/2014 20:20

I have my diaries from when I was 12/13/14 after that I stopped as DM would break the locks and read them then embarass me.

Some of the letters I wrote to people I had crushes on were dreadful. I spent a long time doing drafts in my diaries!

batfuttocks · 18/02/2014 20:22

Loving this. I was also 11 at the start of 1991 and wrote a diary frighteningly similar to this. I remember reminding myself to record the war - in case of future posterity.

Cooper test = fitness test. We did them too.

Anniemousse · 18/02/2014 20:23

Ah, greylady how lovely.

Would love to read some of your diaries too, dig them out and start some threads.

(Should have added some !!! as a nod to my 12 yo self)

You're never gonna believe this but Benny was at the Thinking Day Service! It's TRUE! Mum's friend C came over and brought her girls. Me and J went to the woods. Then after tea we played the Jason Donovan Game.

Enjoying your diary entries everyone!

I kept all my diaries, ages 10 - 22 or so, on and off. There is a bit of a gap around the time I was 12 though.

However I did find this musing about a times table test and other subjects when I was 11.....I'm a bit worried that not cheating is news...

Wednesday 28th of March 1984

I did well and didn't cheat!
I improved by about 4, well I know it's not by much but its better than nothing! I've gone off the A Team because it hasn't been on for a long time. I'm back on pop music so I'm going to go on and on about it - sorry. I like Howard Jones and the Thompson Twins"

Samuel Paul Peter Jones is Paul's dad. Found out in a personal document! Anna came over. She also knows about SPPJ.

Shame. My older brother has a different birth father but adopted by my dad. When my parents were out one day I rifled through some paperwork out of idle curiosity and found my brother's adoption papers. I did know already that he had a different dad

when magnified by glasses Grin Grin

I was 5 in 1991. My first diary around that age (well, 1992) is entirely filled with entries about sweets, Noel's House Party, Gladiators and visits from Grandma.

My diary from when I was 13 is so cringe I think I must have embarrassed myself and not written again for 6 years. However my 19-year-old self was even worse.

Yes, I had a "fitty list".
