I bet there's been one of these before but who remembers stuff about the 70's, looking back to me it was all a bit weird.

So some of my memories.

Mary Mungo and midge, the music in the lift. my orange space hopper, gridsy marbles and clackers.
Dehydrated potato, free milk you had to drink at school.
Playing out from after breakfast until dark or tea.

BrianTheMole · 01/02/2014 23:12

Ice lollies in a cardboard triangle with no stick. They were big, and messy. I loved them.

Do you mean Leslie Crowther?

I think this is a fantastic thread and should go into classics. I am remembering far too much. I was 10 in 1970 Blush.

Synthetic leather sofas - at least now they tend to be real leather.
Black Ash furniture

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 01/02/2014 23:13

We called those jubblies Brian. Yum.

BrianTheMole · 01/02/2014 23:14

Was that their proper name? Glad someone else remembers them.

emotionsecho · 01/02/2014 23:14

Thanks Mellow!

Tressy dolls. They were similar to Sindy or Barbie but had a key in the back which allowed you to wind her long hair in and out. Daisy dolls, like Sindy but smaller, and Sweet April baby dolls.

ShabbyFlabby · 01/02/2014 23:15

The occassional ripped up porn mags blowing around the park or street.

Just dont see that now days!

Seaside Special!
The Radio One Road show!

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 01/02/2014 23:17

I remember having loads of freedom walking on the mountain behind the street and wandering off for hours but I also remember my DM bemoaningthe fact that we didn't have the freedoms that she had had when she was a child and they used to cycle to the seaside for the whole day with no adults. She was worried about the traffic when we were kids but when I look back at old photos, there were hardly any cars parked in the streets where today they're rammed in down both sides.

GinSoakedBitchyPony · 01/02/2014 23:17

We called them jubblies too, Brian. Sorry, can't help with a proper name. They were huge like the Great Pyramid of Giza Wink. I'm surprised we don't all have rotten teeth.

Shaky · 01/02/2014 23:17

Anyone remember This from school?

Marcipex · 01/02/2014 23:18

Seeing the big girls choosing singles in WHSmith on a Saturday. They were probably 14 or 15.

Aqua Manda the height of glamour.

Best dresses from Marks and Spencer, winter ones of crimplene. Navy or brown with lace edged collars.

School milk being cut out for the 10 year olds, we really missed it and felt empty with hunger. We had a good breakfast but a long walk to school, no one ever took a snack for playtime. Funny there was no such thing.

GinSoakedBitchyPony · 01/02/2014 23:18

My cousin had Sindy's bedroom furniture and horse. I was so jealous. The bedroom furniture was cream and gold, very ornate and very un 70's.
