I bet there's been one of these before but who remembers stuff about the 70's, looking back to me it was all a bit weird.

So some of my memories.

Mary Mungo and midge, the music in the lift. my orange space hopper, gridsy marbles and clackers.
Dehydrated potato, free milk you had to drink at school.
Playing out from after breakfast until dark or tea.

Does anyone remember a magazine called Fab 208? None of my friends do, perhaps I've made it up?

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 01/02/2014 23:20

My nan's huge bloomer knickers and having to help her do her suspender clips.

Oxford bags/patch pockets.

Thinking Alvin Stardust was very creepy indeed.

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 01/02/2014 23:20

Oh yes it was Lesley Crowtherwindmill and you always got to win a Crackerjack pencil and pen.
My schoolgirl crushes at the time were Kevin Keegan and Donny Osmond.

I loved a tv programme called The Clangers. I got The Bunty and my sister got The judy. We also used to get two ounces of cherry lips or sherbert pips as you got more sweets for your money. Mums cooker was bottled gas and during the three day weeks she spent her time heating bottles for neighbours babies and cooking dinners for people with children!

Marcipex · 01/02/2014 23:21

I remember Fab208 with the Osmonds and David Cassidy. I could only buy it if I went without sweets, oh the agony of decision!

shaky, I think that tv programme was a bit after my time, I don't remember it. But I do remember us all gathering round the tv that was on huge stilts to watch schools programmes.

Gin I worked 12 hours a week in Woolies when I was 18, filling up the pick & mix. It was a sacking offence to nick any. I was very tempted, lots of times

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 01/02/2014 23:23

Shaky the pick & mix in my local Woolies was very close to the main doors at the front, too easy for some to grab a handful and make a run for it. I'd love to know how many Fruitellas and those lovely banana caramel sweets got nicked!

I think 1976 was possibly the last time I was properly warm.Smile

We had our water rationed and had to traipse back and forth to the stream at the end of the street with bucket after baucket of water for the garden. I remember my dad wearing a huge sombrero someone had brought back from somewhere as a joke. He made good use of it that year!
