I bet there's been one of these before but who remembers stuff about the 70's, looking back to me it was all a bit weird.

So some of my memories.

Mary Mungo and midge, the music in the lift. my orange space hopper, gridsy marbles and clackers.
Dehydrated potato, free milk you had to drink at school.
Playing out from after breakfast until dark or tea.

Oh yes Camay soap and Imperial Leather - anyone else remember the couple in the tub on their way to Bermuda. But then again, Pears (the child model), Shield (very crisp). And thinking of Pears - the Miss World Pageants and what were the hosts called - Eric someone and his wife? At school we used to put a towel over our shoulders, bung a paper hat on our heads and pretend to be Miss World Blush

Yes to the Man From The Pru, ours was called John and also used to call on a Monday

Watching How we used to live at primary school. It inspired me in history and have had a passion ever since.

Recording the top 40 from radio onto tape.
Buying singles from Martins Newsagents or Boots.
Kwik Save
Annes Cake shop.
Potato puffs at school tuck shop- I want some now.
Doing a handstand on the school playing field whilst shouting floretta, I know not why.

Mellowandfruitful · 01/02/2014 23:00

One of my favourite books is Andrew Collins's Where Did It All Go Right? about his childhood in the 70s. It is a brilliant nostalgic read for anyone looking for that sort of thing.

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 01/02/2014 23:00

morethan I remember that bloody woman who couldn't play the accordion in Chester too. Do you remember the Saturday morning cinema club at the ABC?

Mushy

I know where it was and passing, but we weren't really local so we sort of did sight seeing and river cruise, Roman walls and stuff.
I remember them uncovering the amphitheatre or a huge new bit. Not sure if 70's then though.
For a while the whole entrance to the city was really difficult.

Green Shield stamps, Yes!
If I was good my Grandad let me lick them and stick them in the book Grin

I remember studying the 'spot the ball' coupon thing and wondering why adults found it so hard to see where the ball was.

Bar Six
Mint Cracknel
Beach Ball sweets that almost choked me on more than one occasion

I remember most of what has already been mentioned, whenever the seventies are mentioned though I have one abiding memory. Going shopping with my Auntie and she bought some metallic electric blue platform boots Shock I would have given a kidney to own them. I was 7 at the time Grin.

thenightsky · 01/02/2014 23:04

BreconBeBuggered · 01/02/2014 23:04

Regularly getting Avon perfume from an 'auntie' (no relation) at Christmas. I longed for Bird of Paradise, but usually I got Moonwind while my sister was given Charisma. Hmph.

GinSoakedBitchyPony · 01/02/2014 23:04

Buying make up at Woolworths. They had Rimmel, Cover Girl (no longer available in the UK), and Outdoor Girl.

I fell for the Timotei hype but every time I washed my hair with it I attracted every bee and wasp in northern England.
