console yourself with these velour beauties Grin

ButICantaloupe · 09/01/2014 19:13

They are disgusting Goofy

Aintnobodylovesnanbetter · 09/01/2014 19:14

Those trousers would have looked smashing against the material of the chair Grin

ButICantaloupe · 09/01/2014 19:14

It seems the genuine sale price is only on a need to know basis. That's probably why poor Angela in customer service is so grumpy. She's not in the inner circle.

Grin Grin

OhTheDrama · 09/01/2014 19:16

I bet there's a poor old soul out there with both those lovelies Grin!

GoofyIsACow · 09/01/2014 19:19

Imagine the static! Shock

Rooners · 09/01/2014 19:21

I think while it's been a laugh, how people respond to the disappointment is going to say more about that customer than it says about M&S and their handling of it.

I hope they don't get too many numpties trying it on and getting angry.

ButICantaloupe · 09/01/2014 19:21

Chilling out in my recliner in my flowery velour bootcuts - that's the dream!

fuckinghatehim · 09/01/2014 19:25

I tried and failed to order a fugly chair last night, and this morning woke up to a seriously painful ankle. I think it was sad for me :(

Since finding out none of you are getting your chairs either its started to hurt even more!

GoofyIsACow · 09/01/2014 19:36

You are right Rooners! There is muchos fb outrage!

GoofyIsACow · 09/01/2014 19:47

Is there any truth in the fact they are honouring some orders?

That would be hilarious! I mean, really buying a recliner for 50p, not just dreaming fantasising about it! Grin

bogof88 · 09/01/2014 19:47

Rooners M&S have sent me a confirmation email and taken my money. In my book, that gives me the right to try it on and to get angry when they unilaterally cancel an orrder that they told me cannot be amended.

Either that or I'm a numpty.

MarmaladeBatkins · 09/01/2014 19:47

I am discusted and apauled.

LittleMissGerardButlersMinion · 09/01/2014 19:49

I have pmt therefore I am allowed to be outraged :o

justmuddlingalong · 09/01/2014 20:22

You have cancelled my order for the Reclining armchair saying that there was a mistake with the pricing ! I did think that at the time because it was not the best looking chair and in hindsight I do agree with you and 50p was far too expensive and you have done me a favour , thank you.

scripsi · 09/01/2014 20:23

I wonder if somewhere at around midnight last night someone started constructing the chairs and there are now a pile of thousands of unloved, half-made chairs.

LittleThorinOakenshield · 09/01/2014 20:23

Are they taking everything down on the FB page I can't see anything?

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 09/01/2014 20:25

Dear Customer

We are aware that, for a short period of time on our website yesterday, our Richmond Highback Recliner Chair was incorrectly priced at 50p. During this time an order was placed for the chair on your account and we’re sorry to let you know that this order will not be processed further.

We know that this will be disappointing for you, however, we hope you can see this was an obvious pricing error on our part and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. You will receive further emails from us today to notify you that your order has not been progressed and a refund processed.

If your order included any additional items, apart from the chair, we’re afraid that you will have to place a new order for those items.

Once again, we do apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused by this.

If you have any further questions about your order, you can contact us by clicking here. Or by calling 0845 609 0200, If you are calling from overseas please call +44 208 090 9564.

Rooners · 09/01/2014 20:27

'Either that or I'm a numpty.'

Well erm. I don't know what to say. Grin

justmuddlingalong · 09/01/2014 20:28

Scripsi there are a few different M and S Fb pages, this is the 1 I'm watching.

justmuddlingalong · 09/01/2014 20:30

Sorry, ^ was to LittleThorn.

LittleThorinOakenshield · 09/01/2014 20:31

Can't see anything on that one now,

Are they deleting them quick smart?

I feel like getting all discusted on their ass.

ziggiestardust · 09/01/2014 20:32

In Tesco (I know, bear with me) though, if you show them the price ticket of something and they've priced it up wrong, they have always given me the item at ticket price.

Why do Tesco do it and M&S don't?

justmuddlingalong · 09/01/2014 20:35

LittleThorn you have to press 'see all' to get all the latest comments

Rooners · 09/01/2014 20:37

Ziggie I imagine because that's normally only a couple of quid so it's a goodwill gesture they can well afford.

When it's a question of £500+ then obviously it would be financial suicide to honour all the orders - which have clearly been processed through an automatic system, there's not someone sitting there reading them all going 'we'll pretend this is going through, STEAL their 50p, and then cancel on them'. Honestly there isn't.

It's just an error. And as such doesn't deserve huge vilification.

I think their email (the one that's been pasted 8 times on this thread) is actually fine.

The facts are that they are within their rights, and that everyone who ordered knew it was an error and sought to take advantage of that, and that really there is no comeback on this.

It is a bit silly to get overinvested in something that's highly unlikely to come off.

But I am sorry for folk who did. I just think that it's all a bit of a storm in a teacup and a big waste of energy to get so ennervated about it.
