Angela from M&S Customer Service on 0845 609 0200 (the number in the email) has just refused to discuss this with me. She claims that Head Office have instructed CS to REFUSE to discuss these orders! Apparently Head Office will be in touch with me later this evening... yeah right!

OhTheDrama I did point out the irony of giving me a number that is of no use to me. Angela declined to comment and slithered back further into her shell. Management Team have spoken it seems.
I did point out that her refusal to discuss meant I'd have more time to chat to the DM and send tweets and rally the MN decliner troops, but she steadfastly refused to be drawn further. I await my promised HO contact...

What is interesting is they haven't confirmed what price the chair is meant to be. Confused

I would have thought it prudent to put that in the email and provide the option of purchase.

I know it's all been a great laugh but i agree that the CS has been pretty shocking!

I cannot get over the fact the number they give to call is pointless!

Yes, it's been mis priced previously, I should have mentioned that. That's why I'm curious that the actually "real" discounted price of the chair has never been revealed by M&S.

It seems the genuine sale price is only on a need to know basis. That's probably why poor Angela in customer service is so grumpy. She's not in the inner circle.

God cannot believe how many folks are whining on M&S Facebook page. I mean, a beautiful fugky arkchair for less than the price of their undies.

Who honestly thought that was genuine? Nobody....but it won't stop some trying their luck.
