I am not sure if this is the right place for this but my mum (EMIN) had asked us to keep her mumsnet friends updated on her cancer battle.

I have already posted on the 'cancer' thread but wanted to make sure I had done what she wanted.

Mum - wife, mother of three, foster mother to over 80 children and grandmother of one - passed away peacefully in her sleep at 2:50 this morning. We were all with her, holding her hand and telling her we loved her.

Yesterday all of her family came to visit and they spent time with her, each of them getting their private time to talk to her and just be there with her and for her.

All she had ever wanted was to be at home with her family around her and she got exactly what she wanted. She will be missed so very much and we are devastated that she was taken so early.

She loved to read threads on fostering as babies were her life. She lurked a fair bit and would just offer words of guidance, comfort or encouragement where she felt she could help. In later months as she fought cancer she concentrated more on the cancer thread and I know it gave her some comfort.

She would have been 60 in October and we are devastated she never got to have her big family party but we get some comfort from the fact that all of her loved ones were with her yesterday.

I don't know how many people she communicated with outside of the boards or if any crossedover to real life but if anyone is interested in coming to the funeral once it is arranged then by all means drop me a private message and I can pass on the details.

Oh how sad.

Your mum was one of those rare people who made a huge difference to so many lives. The babies she healed and nurtured, but also us internet sprites who read her words of wisdom, love and humour. She inspired others to go on to foster and give of themselves as she gave.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

I'm so so sorry. I remember talking to EMIN on one of her threads when she was first caring for the little baby who was undergoing heroin withdrawal. It's one of the few mumsnet conversations that has stayed with me. The world is a better place for having had your mother in it. My condolences to your family and especially MrEarthMother.

Rest in peace, wonderful EMIN. And thank you, DOEMIN, for taking the time to let us know. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing how well-loved your mother was here as well as in RL.

I'm so sorry. Your mum sounded like an amazing woman, and I'll never forget her thread documenting her fostering journey with an addicted baby.
Love and condolences to you, your family and all who knew and were touched by her.

Oh dear, I am so terribly sorry and send my most heartfelt condolences.

Thank you for letting us know.

I expect you know that your mother had a thread on here not long ago looking for ideas for music for her ceremony. She told us how much she loved freesias so I hope you have bundles of them on the day.

Sending all my warmest wishes.

Your Mum was utterly brilliant. Kind, compassionate, wise, witty, gentle and full of grace.

I am so sorry that such a generous spirit is no longer here. She's been here for so long, selflessly offering advice to other mothers and I know she found this old place a great support. I only hope she knows how much the place loved her in return.

You sound marvellous too DOEMIN. Just like your Mum. Smile I wish you peace over the coming days and weeks.

So sorry for your devastating loss. I was just thinking about her on Sunday and wondered how she was doing, I've never met her but through her posts got a sense of the wonderful person she obviously is. I hope you and your family some how find the strength to deal with this loss.

RIP Earthmother x
