I am not sure if this is the right place for this but my mum (EMIN) had asked us to keep her mumsnet friends updated on her cancer battle.

I have already posted on the 'cancer' thread but wanted to make sure I had done what she wanted.

Mum - wife, mother of three, foster mother to over 80 children and grandmother of one - passed away peacefully in her sleep at 2:50 this morning. We were all with her, holding her hand and telling her we loved her.

Yesterday all of her family came to visit and they spent time with her, each of them getting their private time to talk to her and just be there with her and for her.

All she had ever wanted was to be at home with her family around her and she got exactly what she wanted. She will be missed so very much and we are devastated that she was taken so early.

She loved to read threads on fostering as babies were her life. She lurked a fair bit and would just offer words of guidance, comfort or encouragement where she felt she could help. In later months as she fought cancer she concentrated more on the cancer thread and I know it gave her some comfort.

She would have been 60 in October and we are devastated she never got to have her big family party but we get some comfort from the fact that all of her loved ones were with her yesterday.

I don't know how many people she communicated with outside of the boards or if any crossedover to real life but if anyone is interested in coming to the funeral once it is arranged then by all means drop me a private message and I can pass on the details.

So sorry for your loss, DOE. I saw Emins last thread so knew time was short for her. I didn't know her other threads and posts, but was struck by her composure facing the end. I hope the kind suggestions about her funeral songs, made by the many who knew her better will be a comfort to you.

My condolences to you and your family.

I am so sorry for your family's loss, I actually remember her nickname (one of the few I do as is quite a cool one!) And her posts were thoughtful. Sending kind thoughts to you from me.

So sorry to read that your time with your lovely mum has been ended so soon Sad

She leaves a wonderful legacy as you have been as kind as she was, even at this devastating time, in keeping us updated.

Whenever I read her posts, I was struck by her warmth and the gift of giving from the heart, both to her own family and to those in need of one.

If mumsnet is not usually a place you're found in, I hope you feel able to accept comfort and support here. Your mum always gave as much of that as she could, and was able to draw on it when needed. It may turn out to be yet another gift from her to you Flowers

Oh I am so so sorry, this news has made me cry this morning. I didn't know your Mum, but her fostering stories took us into our fostering journey, and through any doubts. Through my tears, I am looking at my tiny newborn foster baby in the cot next to me. Thank you EMIN from both of us and wishing your amazing family so much love xxx

AFingerofFudge · 04/09/2013 06:32

I never posted on your mum's threads, but often read them. I, as others were, was in awe of her incredible love, patience, compassion and humour in the face of some difficult situations with her foster children. I'm so sorry to hear of her death. Your message reminds us all of the incredible mark she has left on the lives of so many people. I will be thinking of you and your family and friends.
