I am not sure if this is the right place for this but my mum (EMIN) had asked us to keep her mumsnet friends updated on her cancer battle.

I have already posted on the 'cancer' thread but wanted to make sure I had done what she wanted.

Mum - wife, mother of three, foster mother to over 80 children and grandmother of one - passed away peacefully in her sleep at 2:50 this morning. We were all with her, holding her hand and telling her we loved her.

Yesterday all of her family came to visit and they spent time with her, each of them getting their private time to talk to her and just be there with her and for her.

All she had ever wanted was to be at home with her family around her and she got exactly what she wanted. She will be missed so very much and we are devastated that she was taken so early.

She loved to read threads on fostering as babies were her life. She lurked a fair bit and would just offer words of guidance, comfort or encouragement where she felt she could help. In later months as she fought cancer she concentrated more on the cancer thread and I know it gave her some comfort.

She would have been 60 in October and we are devastated she never got to have her big family party but we get some comfort from the fact that all of her loved ones were with her yesterday.

I don't know how many people she communicated with outside of the boards or if any crossedover to real life but if anyone is interested in coming to the funeral once it is arranged then by all means drop me a private message and I can pass on the details.

@DaughterOfEmin
Someone posted today about ''threads one still thinks about''.
Your wonderful mum was one, with fostering the little baby {who would now be 15!} who was born opiate dependent.

''Earth mother I'm not''

She was a truly lovely sounding person.

I cried when I learned that she had died.

The World needs more people like your Mum 🌸

I'm so sad to hear about the lovely Emin and for your loss DaughterOfEmin :( I so desperately wanted her to be okay. I hope that you and your family continue to find strength in the outpouring of love for her. She lives on in all of our hearts and when I start fostering I shall be looking to your mum for advice. Thank you mumsnet for keeping Emin with us.

Rest in peace wonderful lady. The world is a better place for having had you in it xxx

Agus go mbuailimid le chéile arís,
Go gcoinní Dia i mbos A láimhe thú.

RIP, your mum was truly an amazing person, I read one of her threads on fostering months back and instantly recognised the name as it stuck with me due to what an amazing person she was. She seemed so selfless and caring, it's unbelievable that one person has managed to do so much good, for so many people.

You have so much to be proud of her for, she was taken early but she has achieved so much more than many do in a long long life.

Thank you Rebecca for sharing.

DaughterofEMIN your family and your wonderful mother are still very much in our thoughts, she has left a hole in the "Tamoxigang" too but nothing compared to the hole left in your family. So many posters remember her threads and she has inspired and supported lots of people on here, so I don't think she will ever be forgotten. Thank you for taking the time to update us. Much love to you all x

That's lovely, EMIN was truly a special woman, her thread moved me so much last year, I thought of her often after she let us know she had cancer, she sounded as though she was full of warmth, and joy.

I so pleased this has been moved to classics, a lovely tribute to a classic woman.

Thank you for sharing Rebecca - EMIN was a truly remarkable woman in so many ways - her dignity and courage as she dealt with her illness was an inspiration, - she is very much missed by us on the Tamoxifen thread and by her many mumsnet friends.

And DaughterofEmin - you have been so thoughtful and kind to update us all when you are going through such heartbreak. Much love to you and your family, special thoughts for your dear dad at such a difficult time xx

Hi all and lovely Daughterofemin,

We received this mail from DaughterofEmin and we wanted to share it with you all because it is so lovely and credit to your support on this thread, elsewhere and in RL.

She wrote:

'Dear Mumsnet

'I recently posted on the Tamoxifen thread as well as an independent thread regarding the recent passing of my mum, Earthmotherimnot (EMIN).

'She had asked me to update her Mumsnet friends once she realised that the end was very near and wanting to do her proud, I did exactly that.

'However, I did not expect the response I got! I have been sharing with the family all of the wonderful messages that have been posted for mum, such beautiful and kind words to help comfort us as we grieve for the loss of our amazing mum.

'Every time I check on Mumsnet I am more astounded by what I find and we wanted to say thank you so much, moving her thread about the drug addicted baby into classic conversations and linking to it from Twitter is just fantastic. It just helps keep her spirit alive a little longer.

'Babies were her life and she would have been so proud that she managed to touch the hearts of so many people with her simple words.

'My poor father is distraught at losing his beloved wife but he has asked me to express his thanks as well.

'The posters on Mumsnet have been marvellous with sending gorgeous flowers and a handmade card which we will treasure forever.

'So again, thank you so very much.'

Sending much love to all of Emin's family from all of us here at MNHQ.

We will be moving this thread to Classics now because we don't want all of the lovely words to disappear.

Daughterofemin and family, condolences on your sad loss.

I am yet another who owes my becoming a fostercarer to Emin's amazing encouragement on the fostering message board here on mumsnet. Thank you EMIN, rest in peace.
