I am not sure if this is the right place for this but my mum (EMIN) had asked us to keep her mumsnet friends updated on her cancer battle.

I have already posted on the 'cancer' thread but wanted to make sure I had done what she wanted.

Mum - wife, mother of three, foster mother to over 80 children and grandmother of one - passed away peacefully in her sleep at 2:50 this morning. We were all with her, holding her hand and telling her we loved her.

Yesterday all of her family came to visit and they spent time with her, each of them getting their private time to talk to her and just be there with her and for her.

All she had ever wanted was to be at home with her family around her and she got exactly what she wanted. She will be missed so very much and we are devastated that she was taken so early.

She loved to read threads on fostering as babies were her life. She lurked a fair bit and would just offer words of guidance, comfort or encouragement where she felt she could help. In later months as she fought cancer she concentrated more on the cancer thread and I know it gave her some comfort.

She would have been 60 in October and we are devastated she never got to have her big family party but we get some comfort from the fact that all of her loved ones were with her yesterday.

I don't know how many people she communicated with outside of the boards or if any crossedover to real life but if anyone is interested in coming to the funeral once it is arranged then by all means drop me a private message and I can pass on the details.

I remember reading your Mum's posts. How very sad and far too young. I hope you and you family are not struggling too much. Xx

A real-life friend of mine became a foster-carer because of your mum. She read all the mumsnet stuff that EMIN wrote and is currently caring for (another) baby who's mum had addiction issues. She's not very active here so I will pass on the news to her.

I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss. It sounds, though, that she was where she wanted to be and I'm glad that she was surrounded by love to the end. A very special lady. RIP X

Sounds like a wonderful woman who gave many children a new beginning, great work to do and not many can (I know I couldn't). So sorry for your loss. Lots of love for your whole family.

Oh my goodness. I had no idea that EMIN was so terribly ill. Sad

Her thread about fostering that poor drug addicted baby was the most moving thing I have read on here (well, anywhere actually). The way That dear baby was cherished and then handed over to the adoptive parents. What an absolutely marvellous thing to have done.

I am so, so sorry that you have lost your mother at such a young age. I have no idea how hard it must be for you and your family at this time. It may be a very small comfort but your mother deeply touched the hearts of a great number of complete strangers.

RIP EMIN. Flowers

So sorry for you and your family's loss.
Very seldom do you come across someone who genuinely makes the world a better place, however EMIN was one.
