And if you won't gain anything from doing it, then why not just do it to make DP happy :) it obviously means something to him...

Dh and I were never going to marry. Happy as we were, no need for a piece of paper, blah blah blah....

A few months after we had Dd we both just changed our minds. It wasn't for Dd, or anyone else pushing us, its just that not being married suddenly felt like we were in the wrong place. It alsmost felt like an effort not to get married.

It seems it would make your DP happy. That would be enough for me. Bonus a party, and presumably rings for you both, if that's what you both want.

Well, when I read the text, my initial response was a smile and excitement not NO.

I don't care what any of the "bah humbug proposal by text" people are saying, I would be delighted to get a text like that, out of the blue (although it would be a bit of a shock, seeing as I've been married 14 years!). Say yes to the dress!!!
