lol.... clever dog knows when to make its move Grin

I don't know.... I think I may be out of ideas. I never had this problem with cats and I was fairly unsuccessful at dealing with my own non eating human babies so my advice is probably all nonsense anyway!

Pinot · 24/05/2011 15:10

I'll get there.

I will.

Are you listening kitties???!!

SummerRain · 24/05/2011 15:17

Actually... come to think of it... can I swap you a none eating kitten or two for my bottomless pits darling moggies?

My cat food bill is extortionate, might be a good thing that they don't eat!

Pinot · 24/05/2011 18:30

Still nothing.

I'll try again tomorrow but for now I have to feed them myself.

sharbie · 24/05/2011 18:32

you WILL get there pinot - just think you won't be doing this in a few weeks time Smile

Pinot · 24/05/2011 18:37

Thanks sharbie. I sound so silly but it's really getting me down - I just can't do what a mummy cat can do and it feels rubbish. I am trying everything but they are just so stubborn. No, they're not stubborn thats daft as they're babies, they just don't know what to do and I don't know what I'm doing wrong and in the meantime they're missing out.

OP posts:
sharbie · 24/05/2011 18:43

it will be fine - i understand completely what you say but they are not suffering are they??they're not really missing out.
you have done a fab job pinot - give em a few more days they will do it.you'll be there Smile.

sharbie · 24/05/2011 18:47

just googled feeding tiny kittens (sure you have already) and although some are ready to be weaned at 4 weeks some aren't until 6 or 7 weeks.yours might just be a bit immature development-wise because of being abandoned by their mum so they may be the later eaters.

Pinot · 24/05/2011 18:56

Oh God really??? Can you link me it

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 24/05/2011 19:00

Maybe give it to them on one of your plates since they seem to like eating of those?

Give up for a few days and then try again?

Or do what I do with mine when he wants me to feed him. I load the spoon and go off to do something telling him not to eat it. 100% of the time he does Grin. Put the food down and tell them not to eat it..

sharbie · 24/05/2011 19:00

he he i will try

no probs - now stop worrying

SecretNutellaFix · 24/05/2011 19:14

I know it might be defeating the object, but could you mash it up and put it in a syringe? get them used to the texture?

Pinot · 24/05/2011 19:17

At this stage Secret, I'm willing to try anything!

Oh My Goodness.

I only just discovered this thread. I've seen it come up but never read it until now .

Just read all FOURTY-TWO pages. So lovely to see how thoughtfully you have taken care of these kitties. This thread has seriously made me laugh, cry, everything. R.I.P. Rosie :(.

Hope they keep thriving :).

GoodnightNobody · 24/05/2011 22:25

Pinot- are they at the stage where they're putting toys/ their own or eachothers tails in their mouth yet?

I remember my mum buying sprats from the fishmonger and letting kittens march about with them in their mouths. They didn't eat them but I think it made them feel all 'brave hunter' like and perhaps (hopeful) wetted their appetites?!

TheOriginalFAB · 25/05/2011 07:53

Grin at brave hunter type kittens.

ClaireDeLoon · 25/05/2011 08:57

How are they this morning Pinot? Try not to get stressed by it all you are doing brilliantly it just sounds as if they need a few more days before they're ready to try solids.

SummerRain · 25/05/2011 09:45

Pinot.... if they needed the food developmentally they'd have tried it by now. Chances are that if they won't eat it they're just not ready despite their age and size. It sucks for you as you're still having to do all the hard work and bottle feed them though and 5 weeks in you must be knackered.

Pinot · 25/05/2011 09:55

I feel a bit calmer now, admit to having an over-tired flouncy-pout yesterday Blush OK, so Ginger is still adamant he's having none of it but but but Meow ate some meat this morning !!!!!! Woooooo Hooooooo!!! Not alot, about a teaspoon full, but she ate it! I warmed it, mushed it and pushed it right to the edge of the plate, sat her on my lap and snuggled with her...and she sniffed, licked, poked at it...then as I stroked her she licked some up and then some more and some more and YAY!!!!!!

OP posts:
sharbie · 25/05/2011 10:29

yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
told yer Grin

Pinot · 25/05/2011 10:32
Grin
OP posts:
Jux · 25/05/2011 10:39

Yay!!!!

(Boys are always behind girls ime!) She'll get more and more into real food and he'll copy her. There is light at hte end of the tunnel......

I remember having a kitten who was far too young to leave her mum. I had to teach her to wash herself. Imagine: one human female trying to lick herself - all over - watched curiously by tiny kitten. No don't, actually Grin

ClaireDeLoon · 25/05/2011 10:48

Agh great news, that clever Meow, come on Ginger!
