Clever, clever boy. Is Meow following suit?

Pinot · 18/05/2011 08:22

Nope Envy But I still luff her :)

Just popping in to see how the gorgeous kittens are doing. Pinot are they sleeping through the night yet?

Pinot · 18/05/2011 10:33

Hey saffron - nooooooo, still making me rise from the dead bed for milkychops. And twice last night too - mostly now it's just once. I have attractive purple marks under my eyes from being tired - DS3 (aged 8) said to me a couple of days ago " Mummy you've put make-up under your eyes " No, son, that's just a sign of no sleep !! Shock I suspect once they eat meat they'll stay fuller for longer

Oh I'm so jealous. They're getting so grown up. I bet they're into everything.
Word of warning, when one of my cats was a kitten he fell in the toilet. I heard this scraping noise and rescued him, but if I hadn't been there he would have drowned as he was very tiny and couldn't get out on his own.
So always close your toilet lid.
Btw your dogs are very lovely too.

Jux · 18/05/2011 11:23

Oh they really are Major Cute! Can I copy a couple of those pics for my Cute Cat Collection?

Purple is great, make the best of it while you can, all too soon you'll return to normal - things are so fleeting Grin

Bucharest · 18/05/2011 11:32

Oh my life. Just popping in for my weekly fix. Smile

They have to be the most photogenic puds ever.

Pinot · 18/05/2011 13:09

LBE The toilet?! Oh boy have I got a few things to learn! I'm limiting them to the lounge at the mom, so the dogs either join us or sit on the other side of the french doors looking fed up. Not long, woofers, and they'll be safe to wander about terrorising you :)

Jux you're right, of course, and a good reminder. They are so lovely and so purr-y when I pick them up for a feed, it's just the hideousness of cracking my eyes open at silly o'clock whilst dh snoozes like a walrus baby Grin Copy away, no probs.

Buch I agree 100%

HRHPrincessZombiePlan · 19/05/2011 10:27

They are supercute.

Jux is so right. It's funny isn't it - while you're doing night feeds you feel like hell and wish you weren't, but when they're a bit older you look back and feel all nostalgic. Make the most of the little kitten snuggles and minipurrs while you've got them... it won't be long before they've grown up into teenagers cats

SummerRain · 19/05/2011 11:29

all cats are teenagers at heart.... obnoxious, rude, demanding and ignore you unless they want something Wink

I still lurve my pudder tats though, even if they're a bit anti social at times.

Last night dp and I were in bed and heard ds1 getting out of bed on the baby monitor and stumbling out of his room. Obviously Petie heard him too as halfway across the hall he'd joined him and was mowing happily at him, followed him into our room and both of them climbed into bed with us and snuggled in.... very cute Grin

bruffin · 19/05/2011 17:55

I was thinking the same thing the other day Summerrain. I only got my cat in february, however a few weeks before that we looked after a very well trained chocolate labrador. She was really lovely, but I have come to the conclusion that having a dog is like having a toddler and having a cat is like having a teenagerGrin

Pinot · 20/05/2011 09:16

Well my little babies slept through the night :) :) I forgot to set the alarm for the night feed (bad wine, naughty wine) and I awoke at 6.20 to scratching and meowing and a "S-H-I-T!!!!!!!!" panic eyes-flying-open as I realised it was light and I hadn't fed them....they were fine, and guzzled like crazy at their milk whilst I told them how clever they were. Turns out sleep is the best present Grin

Ginger and Meow are both now using the litter tray for wees and Ginger has done a poo in it too but Meow has yet to tick that off her list of jobs.

Suffice to say, I'm a proud Mummy :) :)

:o well done those kittens!

ExitPursuedByAKitten · 20/05/2011 10:29

Hurrah for the kittens. Are they four weeks now Pinot? That was the age I got mine and they were on kitten food then. Though not in the least bit housetrained!

TheDinnerWitch · 20/05/2011 10:42

I'm so proud of those kittens!! Grin

Pinot · 20/05/2011 10:47

Exit They're 5 weeks tomorrow - and still have no interest in kitten food!!!! GAH!!!!

OP posts:
ExitPursuedByAKitten · 20/05/2011 10:49

Mmm - you don't think you are spoiling them do you Shock. Might have to exercise a bit of tough love and make them go cold turkey Grin

Pinot · 20/05/2011 10:51

Really? OK.

It's just so hard they look at the food and sniff it and then...nothing. Nada. Zip.

Then they crawl up my legs for a bottle of warm milk

OP posts:
saffronwblue · 20/05/2011 10:53

Pinot, they (and you) are doing so well! I wish I could think of a non cheesy way to say that your kittens and their story are like a ray of sunshine in a dark and uncertain universe. Well. I hope you know what I mean.

Pinot · 20/05/2011 10:54

Awww saffron Thanks. Really.

OP posts:
ExitPursuedByAKitten · 20/05/2011 10:55

Didn't mean to panic you. I am sure they will self wean when they are two ready.

Pinot · 20/05/2011 11:03

I've mixed up some tuna with warm milk and put it in their tub...they are perusing it in a Hmm fashion Grin

arf at me feeding giant cats with a baby bottle Grin

OP posts:
SummerRain · 20/05/2011 11:21

I just laughed so loud at that mental image I frightened the baby.

My mother had a cat years ago (technically he was mine but he was my mother's creature through and through... he's piss on us while we slept if she was away overnight) that would demand warm milk every afternoon. It was this big production where he'd come and get her, prowl around the worktops while she boiled the kettle, washed his bowl, poured in the milk, topped it up with hot water til it was just the right temperature for him and served it to his highness on his special mat Hmm Unfortunately it turns out you're not supposed to give them cow's milk and when we brought him to the vet for his constant diorhea she was ordered to stop giving it to him. not a happy puss Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 20/05/2011 11:23

I got FabCat when she was 5 weeks old and tbh it was too soon to take her from her mummy. She had milk and food then but I can't really remember how she got on with it, I think she just jumped straight in. Sometimes literally. Grin

OTheHugeManatee · 20/05/2011 11:43

Pinot, have you tried offering them a teeny bit of kitten food on the tip of your finger? If they have a little lick and decide they like it you can feed them little bits by hand, and that might make the transition to eating from a bowl easier.
