Pinot... syringing is fairly messy and depending on the syringe it's hard to control how much is being squeezed out... it always went in fits and starts for me the couple of times I had to attempt it.

It would be very tedious and long winded but i wonder would Thumper get along better with a clean cloth dipped in the milk that she could suck on like a nipple. As i said it would be slow going but it would be quite difficult for her to inhale it that way. here about halfway down the page they have a list of feeding methods

Pinot · 21/04/2011 11:44

Thanks summer I'll read that - looks like a great article. I'll try anything...

Can I just add a SQUUUEEEEEEEE too please?

Well done for what you're doing for them, fantastic.

SummerRain · 21/04/2011 12:03

It's worrying isn't it.... I have to say though, she sounds like she's doing well. The kitten we lost very visibly went downhill in quite a short space of time. He refused food and milk and was very obviously distressed.

Thumper on the other hand is extremely fat and contended looking and is feeding well (despite the messiness) and her wounds are healing.... I honestly think she'll be ok.

Weights from Monday to today, Thurday:

Ginger 150g to 200g = +50g

Meow 120g to 155g = +35g

Thumper 145g to 165g = +20g

:) :) :)

Have just googled about how to clear airways x

Oh, this thread is bringing a tear to my eye! the pics are GORGEOUS - they are all so cute!

The blacker of the b/w ones (the one who isn't Thumper I think) looks so much like my grand old lady, who is 22 now, and basking regally in this beautiful weather.

Good luck with the hand rearing; I really hope all 3 make it - you are a star Pinot!

Pinot · 21/04/2011 13:09

Whats your grand old ladys name Marlin? We are calling her Meow as when she was first picked up she was silent and cold...then as she warmed up she made a little squeak and it sounded GREAT!

I've just found this
SQUUEEEEEEEE
they are gorgeous and you are being wonderful Grin

clitorisorclitoraint · 21/04/2011 13:19

What a lovely thread Smile I love cats to the point of madness, so this has made my day!

TheOriginalNutcracker · 21/04/2011 13:22

Aww how sweet, and good on you for rescuing them.

We have an 8yr old cat and 2 weeks ago we got a 6 week old kitten (Gypsy) who is as mad as a box of frogs. You will be run ragged when yours all get to that stage Grin

Pinot · 21/04/2011 13:32

Ooh I love the name Gypsy!

Just spent the most wonderful hour lying on the sofa with the kitties wriggling/sleeping over me, one even tucked in for a kip down my top. I had purrs (from them) and happy sighs (from me).

Now all fed and tucked into a blanket warm from the tumble dryer :)

We've decided to call Thumper 'Rosie' now as she's such a delicate little dainty thing and Thumper was just wrong. Funny, but wrong. Plus she's not got a swollen leg anymore :) Rosie was chosen as a rose is strong but delicate which is what I hope for her.

They are all far too cute...I am desperate for some kitties but the dh is saying no...I shall grind him down, I shall.

Good luck Pinot, I hope they continue to thrive!

glastocat · 21/04/2011 17:51

Aww pinot, so cute about the little one going for a kip down your top. My kitten is about six months old now so quite big, he woke me up the other night trying to burrow with his face down my rather substantial bosom. Grin My husband said he didn't blame him! Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 21/04/2011 19:13

This is my favourite thread ever!!

Marlinspike · 21/04/2011 19:14

Pinot, my 22 year old is Sophie... I love where you got Meow from!

purpleknittingmum · 21/04/2011 19:18

takes mental note that Thumper is now Rosie!

How long are you going to look after them for? Sounds like you are doing a great job!

Pinot · 21/04/2011 19:26

purple I'm hoping my Mum will adopt Rosie as I think she'll have to be an indoor cat due to mobility issues with her back leg - Mum lost her 18yr old tortoiseshell cat 2 months ago and lives in a first floor flat so hopefully a perfect match. She's over on Saturday so I'm hoping she'll fall in love!

The other two are staying here with me

I was going to rehome them. But I just can't. I'm going to dripfeed DH with their cuteness until he caves likes I know he will :)

OP posts:
Pinot · 21/04/2011 19:27

I'd like to keep Rosie too, I should have said, but with 3 boys and 3 dogs I just think she'll be out of her depth here with her bad leg and my Mum would love the company...

I showed my husband the photos earlier, the black and white ones look like our Misty (he is on my profile!)

Misty is a house cat, I couldn't sleep not knowing where he is! He is a spoilt housecat!

dexter73 · 21/04/2011 19:37

Pinot - I bet your dh already knows inside that you are going to keep the kittens! Can't blame you they are so gorgeous!

Jellykat · 21/04/2011 19:49

Ooh i love my daily catch up with this thread Smile

They are so lucky their mum chose your garden to give birth Pinot!

Pinot · 21/04/2011 19:53

Thanks Jellykat!
