MNHQ here: Video now available, Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts puts your questions to Prime Minister Boris Johnson

JuliaMumsnet · 01/06/2022 13:20

Hello

As you may have seen - yesterday Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts headed to Number 10 Downing Street with some of the questions that most reflected what you all asked on this thread, from partygate to trust and integrity to the cost of living.

Again, there were so many excellent questions and personal stories and we would have loved to ask them all but we chose a selection that we thought best represented the topics raised.

You can watch it here. Let us know what you think!

(We don’t have a transcript at the moment but will make one available as soon as we can)

Thanks

MNHQ

Bloody hell, EVERYTHING Johnson says in that interview reveals his belief that he is above the law.

Well done, Justine, for holding him to account so much more effectively than the big-name TV interviewers. And well done, Mumsnetters, for such brilliant and to-the-point questions.

Mischance · 01/06/2022 22:24

His answers followed his script: yes, I absolutely understand why someone might feel like that, but look at what I am achieving - to which of course the answer is no he does not even begin to understand and he is achieving nothing positive.

Strictlyfanoftenyears · 01/06/2022 22:26

Fab, but why did Justine turn up in a bad pair of tracky bottoms?

Peregrina · 01/06/2022 22:29

Presumably he had to go through selection processes and interviews for candidacy for MP, Mayor of London, etc.

Prior to being Mayor of London he had been MP for Henley. This is (was?) a pig with a blue rosette seat, so anyone they put up would get elected.

I put was with a question mark, because South Oxfordshire DC is now under NOC. It ought to be the truest of true blue seats. Oxfordshire now only has one DC under Conservative control. This is not what you would have expected even a decade ago.

To show him the respect he deserves

The article about this interview in the Daily Mail - the best rated comments all saying he's a liar!
I think the tide is turning!

Dilbertian · 01/06/2022 23:53

Is there a transcript? I don't think I could bear to sit through 20 minutes of er-er-er-er.

I listened to it on 1.5 x speed. Made it bearable (if infuriating)

Fleetheart · 02/06/2022 06:44

Fabulous, courageous interview, if only our journalists were so ballsy. More like this please

I’m not sure a transcript would be readable.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 02/06/2022 07:22

I now really want to see Justine doing the same to Keir Starmer, with a focus on sex-based rights.

I had a look yikes at some of the comments re mn

I know it’s typical but it puts me off being quoted and ending up on there

HenryHomer · 02/06/2022 08:22

If you want to see the depth of lying by Mr Blobby Johnson and his government try this website - boris-johnson-lies.com/

Well done justine

Look forward to watching this

Peregrina · 02/06/2022 09:03

I would to see MN publish two transcripts - one complete with all the um, um, er, you know, the the, well, and one with answers distilled out.

For example how did he actually answer the first question? Was it the usual about getting things done or getting on with the job - it was hard to tell.

He obviously doesn't understand what Tumble Tots or Mini Kickers are. He's never read a book to any of his DCs. Imagine thinking it was better to appear so completely self-absorbed that he can quote Dr Seuss from his own childhood ... but can't name one book he might feasibly have read to his own children (and not realising parents do still read Dr Seuss).

Exactly! The man has got at least 7 kids and yet he's clearly never read to a single one of them. Mind boggling.

He can’t even clean up his own shit. Relies on other people to do that for him too.

IhatMMc · 02/06/2022 09:49

Disappointed you didn't ask him about the state of the NHS. In one of his answers he mentions the NHS and you say "we'll come on to that later" but you never did. Limited with time I suppose.

BJ wasted half the allotted time going 'errr' and 'umm'.

“I put was with a question mark, because South Oxfordshire DC is now under NOC. It ought to be the truest of true blue seats. Oxfordshire now only has one DC under Conservative control. This is not what you would have expected even a decade ago.”

There’s been so much fuss made about how the Red wall was broken down. Not so much about the collapse of the Blue vote in the traditionally Conservative constituencies.

He did say lie about delivering the EXTRA £350m a week Brexit dividend he promised for the NHS

Chrysanthemum5 · 02/06/2022 13:04

You know you are an absolute low life when you have to use a war as an excuse for why you should stay in power.

Chrysanthemum5 · 02/06/2022 13:14

And he's standing by his claim of £350 million per week for the NHS! Surely that should be an easy claim to verify or disprove?

PamDenick · 02/06/2022 13:23

That first question posed to BJ is exactly why I love MN! Well done, Justine!
