MNHQ here: Video now available, Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts puts your questions to Prime Minister Boris Johnson

JuliaMumsnet · 01/06/2022 13:20

Hello

As you may have seen - yesterday Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts headed to Number 10 Downing Street with some of the questions that most reflected what you all asked on this thread, from partygate to trust and integrity to the cost of living.

Again, there were so many excellent questions and personal stories and we would have loved to ask them all but we chose a selection that we thought best represented the topics raised.

You can watch it here. Let us know what you think!

(We don’t have a transcript at the moment but will make one available as soon as we can)

Thanks

MNHQ

Childcare and childcare costs topic:

Erm erm you get out what you put in erm erm <looks pleased with himself> erm erm Carrie erm erm>

Well done, Justine. Brilliant unravelling of the Prime Minister.

BluOcty · 01/06/2022 16:25

Fabulous :) Thanks Justine and Mumsnetters for the brilliant questions.

Thelnebriati · 01/06/2022 16:46

Not for the last time I'm grateful that YouTube lets you adjust the playback speed - he's slightly less unbearable at x1.5.

balalake · 01/06/2022 16:51

Side observation, much as I hated Margaret Thatcher's policies the portrait of her is very good, whoever the artist is/was.

FictionalCharacter · 01/06/2022 17:00

He’s 100% bluster, isn’t he?
thanks for the tip @Thelnebriati !

SunnyLobelia · 01/06/2022 17:04

Once again proves that politicians likeBJ underestimate the electorate and certainly underestimate Mumsnetters.

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 01/06/2022 17:13

It's a delight watching the misognists, MRAs and TRAs on Twitter flounder about as praise is heaped on the interview.

I'm guessing whoever arranged this in Boris' office, really doesn't like him Grin I have visions of Carrie putting the interview request to the top of the pile.

Has anyone seen Carrie or the kids in the last six weeks?
Are they OK?

BigBoudIsBack · 01/06/2022 17:31

😂 We ARE looking at your actions! OMG what a thing to say. What an absolute plonker. Seriously, scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of talent, integrity and conscience.

She’s allegedly spending lots of time with Zac Goldsmith. On official, non-romantic business of course. Apparently.

Who the hell thought it would be a good idea thank you whoever you are

Did they think it would be a fluffy isn’t he a good bloke interview? If they aren’t that naive they’ve stitched him up.

blingerswinger · 01/06/2022 17:41

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 01/06/2022 17:46

Is this part of his campaign to win over women who shop in Waitrose (I read he needs to win them back)? A big fat fail methinks. Awful awful man.

I shop in Waitrose. To win me over he needs to resign now rather than drag this embarrassment on any further

Devilishpyjamas · 01/06/2022 17:57

So basically he is either too stupid or too lazy to understand what the NI protocol meant for the GFA. I understood what it meant & am no great political/policy brain.

Awful.

I watched it sped up to 1.5 while peeling spuds. Think I would have thrown it out the window at 1.0z

I know! Coming after the question on understanding the concerns of normal people - it was practically satire. I mean yes, my childcare costs more than my mortgage and I can't get holiday cover for my 4 year old for love nor money, but the REAL problem is paying tax on DD's weekly £6 ballet classes. What PLANET are these people on?

He obviously doesn't understand what Tumble Tots or Mini Kickers are. He's never read a book to any of his DCs. Imagine thinking it was better to appear so completely self-absorbed that he can quote Dr Seuss from his own childhood ... but can't name one book he might feasibly have read to his own children (and not realising parents do still read Dr Seuss).

It's a thing of beauty 😁 @JustineMumsnet thank you! And there are some great comments about you and Mumsnet on Twitter. Another man underestimates us to their detriment 😁

kittensinthekitchen · 01/06/2022 18:14

What a load of utter waffle that was.

Got to hold my hands up, though, and admit how pleasantly surprised I was by @JustineMumsnet asking the tough questions, and taking no shit. Was expecting a load of piffle, tbh, but she went right in there for his balls 👏👏
