MNHQ here: Video now available, Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts puts your questions to Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Hello

As you may have seen - yesterday Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts headed to Number 10 Downing Street with some of the questions that most reflected what you all asked on this thread, from partygate to trust and integrity to the cost of living.

Again, there were so many excellent questions and personal stories and we would have loved to ask them all but we chose a selection that we thought best represented the topics raised.

You can watch it here. Let us know what you think!

(We don’t have a transcript at the moment but will make one available as soon as we can)

Thanks

MNHQ

I shop in Waitrose. To win me over he needs to resign now rather than drag this embarrassment on any further

Me too! He would never ever get my vote. And after listening to this interview, I am even more revolted.

Radiatorvalves · 01/06/2022 18:20

Oh lord, I will never be able to eat another chocolate digestive without thinking of Lardarse.

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 01/06/2022 18:26

He gives a distinct sense that he thinks people are upset because we weren't allowed to go to parties hence his 'it was a bit of a rubbish party' attitude.
He seems also to be confused that people resented lockdown.

He is incapable of understanding that people do still believe in collective responsibility - that people did support lockdown to protect the vulnerable and that the issue isn't that lockdown stopped us attending parties and we're jealous he had one but that he and his 'leadership' put people at risk.

We couldn't visit our ill DM in hospital and we didn't visit because we wanted to keep her safe. Yet he thinks we're annoyed we couldn't drink cheap wine and scrappy canapes. There are distinct Marie Antionette vibes from this interview.

SchoolThing · 01/06/2022 18:27

All I need to know is if he explained why he can’t comb his hair.

SpindleSheWrote · 01/06/2022 18:33

Definitely time for Justine to be rebooked for Questiontime.

MarshaBradyo · 01/06/2022 18:37

I’ll wait for the transcript as so waffly and unbearable to listen to but well done to Justine

I was sceptical but she did just land in there on the first question, which I just watched to see what everyone was talking about

The user names are a funny addition but I liked Justine’s sitting stance matching his

I’ll wait for transcript but bravo

Peregrina · 01/06/2022 18:54

How much shorter would the interview have been if all the er er er, um, um, um, the, the the's were edited out? This is a man expensively educated - didn't they teach debating skills at Eton and Oxford?

Did he actually give a straight answer to any of the questions he was asked?

Peregrina · 01/06/2022 18:55

Dear God, twenty minutes of my life wasted, with er er er um um um I I I etc.

noblegiraffe · 01/06/2022 18:58

Interesting that his minders didn't look at the outcome of this poll and then think that maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea to take questions from us: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4557070-why-the-fuck-is-boris-johnson-still-prime-minister

I mean, he bottled Andrew Neil so he's used to ducking out of tough interviews.

blingerswinger · 01/06/2022 19:49

Yes BJ I can just see everyone fitting in a day’s work whilst chauffering little Timmy to and from Little Kickers for half an hour a week. FFS! He is coming across as clueless!

HermioneWeasley · 01/06/2022 20:16

Fucking shameless

balalake · 01/06/2022 20:18

The former joint leader of the Monster Raving Loony Party was someone I learnt more sense from- and he was a cat.

ShandaLear · 01/06/2022 20:23

I’m absolutely baffled as to how he became prime minister. Presumably he had to go through selection processes and interviews for candidacy for MP, Mayor of London, etc. How on earth did he manage it? He wouldn’t have made it through the first round of the undergraduate summer placement interviews where I work.

JennyForeigner · 01/06/2022 20:35

ShirleyPhallus · 01/06/2022 14:20

He’s such an odious little twerp

However, on the threads from people who have met him they regularly say he’s really charming in person and makes you feel like the centre of the universe. Did you get any flutters of lust @justinemumsnet just being in his presence?!

Thank you @ShirleyPhallus for making me be sick in my mouth

(I know you didn't mean it, but the vom is real)

InMySpareTime · 01/06/2022 20:35

@ShandaLear it's not what you know, it's who you know (and where you went to school).
This is where over-reliance on the old boys network gets us, and why diversity is better.

balalake · 01/06/2022 20:41

I think when he was selected to be the Tory London Mayor candidate, no one expected him to win. Then came the issue with one of Ken Livingstone's advisors which boosted the Tory vote.

This interview has probably done more to promote equity, diversity and inclusion in 20 minutes than all the other initiatives to promote it in the last 20 years.

Goodskin46 · 01/06/2022 21:01

Oh my goodness just appalingly embrasingly bad.

Oooh thanks, I'll watch that.

Tanith · 01/06/2022 21:38

He's going to make it easier to register as a childminder??? 🤬

What the actual Hell is the point of that?!

How about doing something to retain the vast numbers of childminders haemorrhaging from the profession? How about properly funding Early Years and childcare?
Boris Johnson, you know nothing about the childcare sector, do you? You just said the first thing to pop into your head.

PestorPeston · 01/06/2022 21:42

He's going to make it easier to register as a childminder??? 🤬

How?

No enhanced DBS?
No home checks?

Feeling poor? SS on your back? Register as a childminder

Badqueen · 01/06/2022 21:43

Amazing. He obviously thought "Mumsnet is a bunch of middle aged women, nothing to worry about there". Justine handed his arse to him with the very first question and it just got better.

Tanith · 01/06/2022 21:51

Does he even know what a childminder is? The Government certainly didn't seem to know during lockdowns.

My God, the whole interview was Boris Johnson trying to wing it, wasn't it? Totally unprepared and no idea whatsoever what he's going to do about any of the issues that were raised. Waffling, incompetent, clueless embarrassment!

PestorPeston · 01/06/2022 21:59

Presumably Carrie told him that MN were a bunch of naice Waitrose shoppers. Before she legged it with one dc and left him with his dc.
