good grief you lot are busy ferocious posters on here, impossible to keep up with!

thanks for the feeding twins lying down advice. i will give it a go i'm sure. just had 29 week scan today. twins are 2lb 13.5oz and 2lb 15oz which is actually bigger than a singleton would be and combined more than double! ugh. no wonder i am lumbering around like a house end barely able to get off the sofa with awful back and hip ache, yet still have 3 weeks left at work.

wonderful twin flue birth stories. thank you so much for those. it is very encouraging. my twin a is cephalic and b is transverse so hosp are aiming for a flue delivery which i think is probably better, although slightly alarming. took me 2 1/2 hours to shove my dd out. will i be there 5 hours having to push out 2???? the thought...

Afternoon ladies - a new thread horaay - haven't got to 20 odd pages before I feel I can join in!

Great reading other multiple mum's birth stories. Zippy everything you are feeling is 100% normal - it is a scary prospect. The main thing my birthing experience taught me was to be clear what you do and don't want but at the same time be flexible as things can/do change. Don't get your heart totally set on having a certain birth because if that doesn't happen, you can feel so bad. The most important thing is having a positive experience and getting your babies out safely. I really didn't want mine to come out through the sun-roof but they had other ideas so I just went with the flow!!!

Had a very very productive day cleaning and sorting - my house is looking very good. I however have not faired so well so better go and get changed and put on a bit of lippy before the school run as I think I will scare the small children. Girls have a party to go to from 4 - 6pm so may come home and treat myself to a long, luxurious bath.

Oi Shabs! I found one of your pins chucky!

Zippi I'm home.

I do hope curiosity that it wasn't one of my shoes that you conveniently relieved yourself into. I'll be needing those!

Right... now to get a cuppa and ponder the wisdom of reaching for the wine when it's barely five!

pixiblue · 11/09/2009 17:13

Zippy you are having normal worries. With my 1st dc I was convinced I was having a section. Was told I could have an elected one and kept waiting and asking for something to be arranged. Nothing happened until it was too late and I had an awful birth as I felt mentally I was in wrong place. I was so unprepared. Took everything offered and took a while to bond, never established breast feeding etc and felt like a shit mother for about, well I still have pangs now. When dd1 came along 19mths later I was adamant I was not going near the hospital so she was home birth, easy, relaxed and fast. I think the mental preparation I did before she came along really helped. By the time I had dts I was convinced natural route with little intervention/meds were the way to go but I underestimated how bad my spd would be. I could have requested section for that reason alone but didn't like the idea of being confined to hospital in a busy labour ward with no one around to support me through the nights. Only you know what's best for you but with hindsight for me not having section first time round and subsequently was best as it meant a swift return home and back into normality, whatever that is and I don't function well in hospital environments as TripEm and Momma know.

There are risks either way but you should find it reassuring that your consultant is offering you the flue route, so many twin mums don't get the option. Mind you the dts may decide for themselves what they want .

If you look here first zippi, let me know you're about and I'll post my number. It's not exactly private as it's on my website. I'll get MNHQ to delete it afterwards.

I'd love some gin, pass it over

I'm, well we're ok, I look like I've been in a battle and lost though. Bruised hands from canulas, my blood was playing hide and seek Tuesday night. They nearly went for the foot, plus bags the size of suitcases under my eyes from crap sleep. Why the fuck do they wake you up when you're obviously asleep, especially when you've had enough trouble getting to sleep on rustly pillows in the first place. Bit of a rant there, sorry

I've got an incompetent cervix, as well as an incompetent consultant. His delay in picking it up nearly cost me my twins, but we are fine now, fluid loss has regenerated, bleeding has totally stopped and their kicking the shit out of me regularlyAnd I am so glad to be home! Thank you so much for your lovely messages and encouragement. I'm still trying to wade through the others people have left, on my thread from Tuesday night. Reading it back's made me weep a bit actually

curiositykilled · 11/09/2009 21:17

Oh Dizzy! You sound like the battle was won though!

So, so, so, glad everything is OK, so good that the bleeding is resolved and that your fluids are replenishing. Well done for sticking to your guns and getting yourself down to the hospital. Of course you must now get some rest!

x

Do you want the bottle of gin or a glass?

You can have my paper bag for hiding in too if ya like?

OP posts:
bagpuss · 11/09/2009 21:24

Welcome home Dizzy, sound like you've had a rough time of it - you deserve that gin .

dizzymare · 11/09/2009 21:25

Yes, the battle was won, all I have to do now is win the war. Strangly it doesn't feel like the end, I can't really explain, but I've got a niggle it won't be my only stay before we meet . But for now, we're doing ok. And curiosity, I'll have the bottle if you don't mind

curiositykilled · 11/09/2009 21:37

It might not be your last visit but there's no reason to believe you'll definitely be back either. At least you know now your instincts are right and you need to listen to them. It is all down to you that everything is still OK, you should be so proud of yourself.
