I know what I would do.

  1. Buy a 5 bedroom house so we all get our own room, big garden so James could have a dog.
  1. Get private medical insurance so we never again have to await scans and results.
  1. Buy Shabs a villa in Faliraki.
  1. Throw a big party for all my lovely lovely mad mums on here.
  1. Treat myself to highlights.
  1. Buy bags and bags of M&S choccy nuts!

Ruby , just caught that. Everything ok? Is he home?

Trips, where did you go last time? I reckon if you find one place that you like, just go as often as you can. We found a cottage on the coast 20miles from us and we just visit as often as possible. It means we always know exactly where we are headed if we happen to have (a) time and (b) its free. It sort of takes the stress out of it.........if its free you go. Failing that, you know you can visit me on the usual proviso that you cook, clean and wipe your memory upon departure. Couple of bottles of Bailey's, a bottle of gin and a cart load of wine should sort that.

I have a major period brewing. V tired, sore cramps, and a headache brewing.........off to email then sleep.

Night girlies x.

Yes...I know, I am very slow!! 5 things I would do if I won the lottery

  1. Pay off all Dan and Ems debts - mortgage etc and then buy them a new house...just make them really, really comfy forever.
  1. Put money in trust for Tom and buy him the Wii he is longing for.
  1. Make my Mum and Dad comfortable, rich and happy for the rest of their lives.
  1. Buy the beautiful house in Faliraki that I can see from the Venezia hotel windows!!!
  1. Help all the people I have met in my life who liked me for 'me' and didn't judge my book by its cover.

Feeling much better thank you....still not eaten properly since Tuesday but I have plenty of blubber to live on.

Hello girls.

Last night I returned from a 24 hour stay at the hospital with DS4 (18m). Two days ago I was making the tea in a frantic hurry and he was clambering over the dining room chairs, as he does everyday, and there was a crash and a bawl (also not hugely unusual ). So I went and picked him up, gave him a cuddle and tried to put him down, but he was having none of that. So I finished the tea while still holding him then thought I'd better take his jumper off because he was still whimpering and he seemed to be quite hot, and that was when I saw his bendy left forearm. Uh oh.

I knew DH was miles away so I rang a friend who dashed round and as he arrived he saw an ambulance across the road that had just finished a call. They were very nice and helpful and took us straight to the hospital and then gave us priority when we got there because it was very busy. The x ray confirmed he had broken one bone so it was overlapping itself, abd fractured the other one so it was bent. [bleurgh]

They gave him morphine (which sent him completely hyper!) and plastered it for the night and then in the morning they took him up to theatre. The great news was that instead of operating on it and putting a pin in for six weeks, they were able to manipulate it back into place while he was under anesthetic, so instead of having two surgeries, he's having none!

He's been great so far, not very good at understanding the instruction that he's supposed to be 'resting' his arm, and sleeping well during the day but not so good at night (hence my zombie-like state). And of course, what was he doing first thing this morning? Why, clambering over the dining room chairs of course!

Have to add that I'm impressed that after seven and a half years of parenting, with four boys, this is our first broken bone.

But I am also worried that in the last two months, this child has climbed into the fish tank, run out into a busy road, been locked in a car for an hour, and now has broken two bones.

I survived the others - do you think I'm going to survive him?....

shabster · 08/05/2009 10:23

ROFL estar - he sounds a real character!!

Tom broke his wrist a couple of years ago and it was really awful....they had to pin it in the end. I still shudder when I think about it.

Did like the fishtank part!!

Oh Estar, scary at the time I bet! Hope he is ok. Shabs, any better? I have just been to the docs to talk about the scan results, she says I need to go back and see the consultant, although there is "nothing" to worry about! She has also given me a prescription for antibiotics to take when it gets really sore, so thats me sorted!
FG everything booked up, inc the last place we went to! Desperate to get away if only for a couple of nights, e-mailed a few hopefuls last night, got 1 reply today
"sorry we don`t take children"!!
Will keep looking, there must be something!

Snorris · 08/05/2009 20:42

Hiya!

Today's appointment went fairly well. There is some further improvement in the right side of dd4's heart, none on the left but it may be too early to see yet. Hopefully when we go back in a month's time that will have changed.

Dd4 seems to be almost back to normal in herself but I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to cope if DH goes back to work next week . I ended up blubbing over one of the mums at school yesterday when she asked me how things were .

My cat also died today. She was at least 16 though and up until yesterday was eating & getting around fine even though she had gone blind. We found her in the garden this afternoon after getting back from school. I am sad to see her go but haven't been able to cry about it . TBH she was very much an outdoor cat and didn't really like women (we rescued her).

Awww Snorris - Im sorry to hear about your cat - but I know how I would feel in your situation. Pets become further down the list....I know its sad.....BUT your children are so much more important. Remember when we talked and it sounds like your DD's heart problems are the same as my Gareths problems? I have kind of kept everything crossed and thought about you every day since that conversation. I know stuff will work out OK for you and your DD.

My Tom was panicking because the hamster was very quiet the other day - the hamster is almost 2. I wanted to scream out loud...'its just a pisching rodent!' and had to stop myself because it is his first pet. A little while later he talked to me about his brothers and was so sweet....said he realised that human beings were more important.

Good night girls. xx

shabster · 09/05/2009 06:24
