I only really read Double Trouble by Emma Mahony (after finding it recommended on here). I did enjoy it but wasn't overly excited by it.

I do also have A Contented House with Twins or whatever it is called. I actually have two copies. I was given both. I have dipped into it. I liked reading the bits by Alice Beer.

Just tried to film DS2 on vid camera as he was looking all uber cute and practicing his smiles. The minute I pressed "record" he started farting over and over again.

One to play on his wedding day methinks .

MarsLady · 13/03/2008 14:11

Egg... could you send me your spare copy please? I need to read it properly (despite spitting at the thought) since I keep coming across people who have looked into it. Probably because it has Twins in the title. lovelymars at aol dot com. Ta!

And that line is why I couldn't recommend it Momma. I mean... hello!!!!!!!!!!!! Bfing can be difficult for singeltons doesn't mean it's going to be hideous because of twins. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'd still like the book if I may Egg!

shabster · 13/03/2008 14:21

I managed to bf my twins - after a fashion! Fed dan and expressed milk for Gareth and I was reasonably good at it - for 3 weeks - but I tried very hard

ChopsTheDuck · 13/03/2008 14:26

at that quote. MP was absolutely right!

I had Twins and Multiple Births by Dr Carol Cooper. I liked it, but I know a lot of the other mms said it was unecessarily scary.

Egg · 13/03/2008 14:27

LOL at the bobos thing. Still making me smile.

My bobos were too well chewed by DS1 to be much use to DTs.

Mars, will mail you now. Send me your home address and I will post book, prob on Saturday as have a MUMSNETTER coming for lunch tomorrow and have all three DCs so wont be going out.

MarsLady · 13/03/2008 14:29

Which MUMSNETTER? huh? huh? huh?

snorris · 13/03/2008 14:31

I can't remember any twin books I read (got them from the library) but at the back of The Baby Whisperer book there's a suggested "timetable" for twins. It was about the only parenting book I found that mentioned twins in a helpful way.

I honestly think the main problem with feeding twins is that it is so time consuming, especially in the early days. I jsut didn't have the time to sit there for hours feeding them, whereas I could express enough milk in 30-45 minutes or so a day to keep them going. I managed to keep going til they were 6 months like that. But I know I was lucky being able to express so easily.

Egg · 13/03/2008 14:34

It's marmitemad. We met last summer when she bought my McLaren from me. It was a day when the heavens opened and my road actually flooded so much she couldn't get back to her car for a while so she stayed for a cuppa and we got chatting. It was in fact the day of my 12-week scan (already knew there were two in there) and I was heading off to the hospital after she left. Have kept in touch ever since.

Anyway, I digress... she is popping over tomorrow with her DD so she can feed the babies while I drink wine see the babies and get all broody .

triplets · 13/03/2008 14:35

I expressed for mine until they were 12 weeks, hated every minute of it. Bad mummy

Egg · 13/03/2008 14:35

Mars that email address didn't work...

I have a different one that I used before (doula one). Shall I just send to that?

Bloody hell triplets, I am impressed! Before the twins were born I intended to express round the clock so I could at least bottle feed them my milk, but it never happened.

MarsLady · 13/03/2008 14:36

Yes... the doula one will work.

ChopsTheDuck · 13/03/2008 14:36

I didnt hate expressing, but I did hate the leaky boobs that weren't MINE! I ended up stopping since I really didn't want to be expressing on hol, and I fed the older two til 6 mnths anyway. I regretted it a bit though, since my breasts immediately shrivelled up and I had nothing to put in my bikini!

MarsLady · 13/03/2008 14:37

It should have said lovelymarslady.....

Egg · 13/03/2008 14:37

Actually momma you're right. I liked reading her bits about life with twins in general, but she didn't seem to enjoy the bf bit at all. I think she mixed fed didn't she? Not that I managed to do that so hats off to her (and all of you who did do it!).

MarsLady · 13/03/2008 14:38

Well with Gina sat beside her telling her how to routine it down... would you expect to hear anything else?

Egg · 13/03/2008 14:39

Chops mine also shrivelled. I used to look pretty darn GOOD in a bikini. Now I look cack.

ChopsTheDuck · 13/03/2008 14:39

I bet she is jsut like that awful verity woman who chucked those twins out in the garden and denied them milk.

triplets · 13/03/2008 14:39

The worst part was seeing my own milk, I havent touched milk since I was about 5, it makes me sick, loke cream does, cant bear to see a bottle on the table even!

ChopsTheDuck · 13/03/2008 14:40

How can you not like milk?

I don't like it on it's own, but what about coffee, sauce, cream cakes?!
