No fetal movement in a day and a half

29 weeks with twins. Had scan last Wednesday. Went perfect. Heartbeat great, size great ect. However I haven't had movement in a day and a half since yesterday. Going to ring midwife first thing tomorrow to get in for a check.

Somethings terribly wrong isn't it? This can't be normal.

Glad you went in. Hoping you get seen soon

Itsnotchristmasyet · 06/11/2023 21:43

Best of luck OP 💐

Goinggreymammy · 06/11/2023 21:43

So glad you went in to hosp. I am in Ireland too and had one of my children born by Emergency C-section after ringing mat hospital reporting very reduced movement. Like you I thought they would fob me off but brought me in straight away. Turns out my fluid was low so baby had no room to move. Fingers crossed all goes well for you and your babies.

You’re trying to prove a point when you’re wrong, as I said glad the advice worked out for you but it’s outdated. I’ll stick to the reputable sources of evidence I use daily rather than the health line website, thanks. Why would you want to spread information that’s dangerous and out of date? That’s just bizarre to me.

This information is not dangerous unless of course you can offer proof that it is

Im sure other MN would be interested to see that professional proof aswel.

You re comments are very rude and upsetting.
If you read my first post I did say get checked out aswel,

You know Its not hard to be kind, supportive and helpful.

Meanwhile there are MNs on here that will look forward to your professional proof that any of the hints offered by myself or others on here are dangerous.

Terfosaurus · 06/11/2023 21:45

Hope everything is OK @Ella31

SparkyBlue · 06/11/2023 21:46

VariantHela · 06/11/2023 21:48

Thank you for going OP

SummerDawn2000 · 06/11/2023 21:50

@Ella31 Do you have someone with you or can you call someone to be with you ? Maybe a family member or a good friend. Even a neighbour? Go tonight The widowed won’t mind I promise x 💜

AgaMM · 06/11/2023 21:50

Well done OP. It’s not unusual to think you don’t want to cause a fuss, but midwives always say they would rather see 10 patients who are fine than miss the one one who should have gone in, so they are always happy to check you and the babies over.

Corilee2806 · 06/11/2023 21:51

I had just seen it repeated a number of times and it could be interpreted by some that having a sugary drink, then feeling movement means everything is ok and no need to go in - that’s no longer recommended. It might provide a bit of reassurance as you say.

Beach11 · 06/11/2023 21:53

Hope everything is ok x

OhwhyOY · 06/11/2023 21:55

Depending on the position of the placenta it can be that the baby/babies have just moved into a position where you can't feel the movements. I hope this is the case for you and all is well. Definitely the right thing to do to get checked out. Don't let them send you away without at least doing a doppler for the heartbeats.

StillWantingADog · 06/11/2023 21:55

Hi op pleased you are at the hospital. Really hope all is well and it’s a false alarm.

I don’t know what it’s like in Ireland but in the UK it’s quite normal to ask to be seen in these circumstances. Expected, in fact

Igglepiggleandhisboat · 06/11/2023 21:55

I hope it all goes well x

violetcuriosity · 06/11/2023 21:56

Thinking of you, that worry is the worst x

Isthisexpected · 06/11/2023 21:58

Absolutely everything crossed babies are OK. Good luck.

dontdillydallytoolong · 06/11/2023 22:00

Wishing you the best OP. x

@Thekirit I’m a midwife. With no movement felt for a prolonged period in a multiple pregnancy, the advice will always be to come in as even if movement does restart from a cold drink or change in position, we’d still want to check via CTG to make sure movements had resumed for both babies.

Greybeardy · 06/11/2023 22:03

Alltheyearround · 06/11/2023 21:14

Not sure the chocolate and milk people are thinking here - what if she needs an emergency c section?

Shouldn't she be nil by mouth? Or can they do it anyway? (is it just general anaesthetic where its nil? )

Just wondering if OP is still reading and is galloping down sweet/cold things...

it's not ideal to have a full stomach, but in the context of a category 1 section of course we'd do a GA if it was needed. It's all about the balance of risk and benefit and if there is an immediate risk to a mother/baby's life then doing a GA despite a full stomach is usually appropriate (it is a higher risk anaesthetic, but not so high risk to mother/baby as waiting for hours to be fasted might be). HTH

Agreed which is why myself and other MNs also said go and get checked out.
Our advice wasn’t instead of.

Still waiting to hear the dangers of cold drinks, sex and yoga during pregnancy

Thank you very much for your response !
