No fetal movement in a day and a half

29 weeks with twins. Had scan last Wednesday. Went perfect. Heartbeat great, size great ect. However I haven't had movement in a day and a half since yesterday. Going to ring midwife first thing tomorrow to get in for a check.

Somethings terribly wrong isn't it? This can't be normal.

It's 8 at night. The won't scan at this time. I'm in Ireland. I didn't really cop it until this evening that things had been quiet. I'm obviously really annoyed at myself

They will scan this late just not in the same place. They have other ways to monitor baby too, such as heart beat and movement monitors. They probably wouldn't use ultrasound at their first check anyway, mine didn't

I assure you that if anybody found out that your midwife had given this advice she would be undergoing extra training. How old are your twins? Sounds like something a midwife would have said 50 years ago when we didn’t know better. It’s ok that you’re comfortable with the advice she gave, but please don’t pass it on to others.

My twins are 19.

The consultants all agreed but I’ll tell them they were all wrong because MN said so 🤣🤣🤣
Its not like I wasn’t getting heart monitors and scans aswell.
Theres an awful lot of professionals on tonight.

To be fair that's the same advice I was given 15 years ago!

Your advice is outdated after 19 years, shockingly.

Just arrived at hospital. Waiting to be seen. Was ringing hospital for ages so just drove in. Hopefully all will be ok

Evening, everyone. We just wanted to pop by to ask people not to troll hunt here. We've had a good look behind the scenes and haven't seen anything to suggest the OP is not genuine. We will continue to keep an eye on the thread but please report any concerns rather than post about your suspicions on the thread itself. Thank you. Flowers

As others have said, guidelines have changed now and trying to do anything like drinking cold drinks or having sugar to encourage movement isn’t recommended - if you feel any changes at all that are outside of the normal pattern for your baby (no 10 kicks a day or anything like that as they’re all different) you’re advised to call your MAU and go in for monitoring as soon as you can. Kicks Count is a great source of info on baby movements.

really hope everything is ok x

Well tbh, she should still go and get checked out. It was advice for many years and I really don't see how doing this would not provide a little reassurance. It is not instead of going to the hospital.

Glad you are there OP, hopefully youl be on your way home again with good news soon. You have 100% done the right thing.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/11/2023 21:28

My twins are 36!

Thekirit · 06/11/2023 21:28

Oooo look !
Same advice on the health line website.
Theyve missed the sex though….shame

Plumful · 06/11/2023 21:28

Having a cold/sugary drink is terrible advice when it’s been MORE THAN A DAY without movement.

You’re trying to prove a point when you’re wrong, as I said glad the advice worked out for you but it’s outdated. I’ll stick to the reputable sources of evidence I use daily rather than the health line website, thanks. Why would you want to spread information that’s dangerous and out of date? That’s just bizarre to me.

Forwardthinkinglobster · 06/11/2023 21:38

Fingers crossed 🤞 xx

mollio · 06/11/2023 21:38

The best of luck x

Figgygal · 06/11/2023 21:41

Hope you don't have to wait too long to be seen op

Sending thoughts x
