frumpg - we've got some great mates born and bred in Glasgow - now they are very scary - they speak in subtitles, or is it russian cause I cant tell a word they are saying.

I just know she calls him 'wee archie' and he's 6ft tall and 6ft wide.

They are fandabidozey.

FG - I wish I knew whereabouts in Embra you lived, I must have told you before that my Dad is from there and we used to go every year until my Granny died (she lived in a street called Silverknowes Neuk, I mean, whats a Neuk???). All my family history research centres in Edinburgh, infact me and Dad are planning to go up and do a proper tour of all the places that our ancestors used to live. My maiden name was Edmonstone, and theres a posh family with a castle dont you know of that name norf of the border....!!!

frumpygrumpy · 22/02/2008 20:05

I know Silverknowes well. Had many a school picnic there There are loads of big houses but so many of them have been carved up into flats, shame!

frumpygrumpy · 22/02/2008 20:07

A neuk is a corner, I'm guessing Silverknowes Neuk was tucked in a bit.

Right. DD1 in bed. Am going to get my jamas on (I can't do dressing up, I'm still in agony with tonsils and other upper respiratory failings!). I will replenish the wine glass and come back with my cooked fish......

HarrogateMum · 22/02/2008 20:16

it was a flat FG, on the top floor up LOADS of stairs, and I guess you could call it a coner, it was just off a main road.

Aunty and Uncle lived on Easter Road in a lurvely flat, you know those ones that have the Victorian tiling in the hallways - gorgeous!! They have since split up and she now lives in Musselburgh and doenst talk to us anymore!

I love Edinburgh. My Grandpa was Scottish and my Mum was born in Glasgow. When I was a child we used to go up for our family holidays-my Great-Uncle & G-Aunt used to live near Stirling. I haven't been for years and Dh has never been to Scotland but would like to. Time to plan a trip methinks!!

HarrogateMum · 22/02/2008 20:22

I have two friends expecting 2 bundles each
friend A had a quick normal birth first time round and may even have no 2 &3 at home.
Friend B has id twins and plans elective c/s at 36 wks as recommended by hospital. Friend B I think is sad and feels I do not value her choice(which I do). How can I make B feel better about me ? am I unreasonable or a gow(grumpy old woman)
advice please

chopster · 22/02/2008 21:06

Buy her a lovely packet of granny knickers for after the section.

I'll have to have a think about it.

TripleyTigger · 22/02/2008 21:10

I'm crap at advice Someone help!!

Chop, sorry you are having such a pants time.
I think kids do it not because they want to go but because they are too young to put into words how they are feeling. So in the end they just react.

I can remember packing my bag, waving goodbye and toodling off down the road with a humungous suitcase,I think I lasted for 5mins before I decided that home was not such a bad place after all

shabster · 22/02/2008 21:10
