it is a pita having to go to different appointments, but imo speech therapists aren't normally too bad, and ds1 actually found it all quite fun. The last time I took him, i actually left him in with the therapist and took the dts to play in the waiting room play area.

I think it's one of those things taht causes so much stress when they are little, but then by the time they go to school you barely wul dnotice any difference! dS1 was a very late talker - first words at about 3 years old, sentances not til 3.5. Now, his sppech is jsut slightly slurred, and he did have a big gap in his speech therapy because we moved and the referral kept getting lost.

chopster · 15/02/2008 13:54

nice tip estar!

MIne empty the fruit bowl as quickly as I fil it, I wonder if it would help to cut that in half...

Overrun · 15/02/2008 13:56

Yeah, your'e famous estar. yes my ds1 enjoys Speech therapy Chopster and as you say it all evens out in the end. Just such a bugger having to take all three of them
I think you are right Estar, professionals can always find something to worry about. I just don't know why she was so oblique about everything though

galaxymummy · 15/02/2008 15:53

Dear Overun,
ds now aged 15 had ear and hearing probs for abou 5 years eventually ended up with grommets and long term low dose antibiotics. Can recommend trimethoprim. He was a little s///t and never cooperated at audiology despite moving fluffy pink rabbits. Was miserable at school was a child who got impetigo after a cold and sore nose. However nuff ranting was not speech therapy that improved things but reading aloud to him and singing together.
Was also worried when little as found it difficult to learn to read thought to be associated with hearing... !!!!nope, ds dd and dh all dyslexic.. now he never has nose out of book

shabster · 15/02/2008 17:13

hiya trips - got your e mail my love. Ignore the silly lady (wasen't that refined) on the other thread - 'what goes around.....' Hope you have a great week - its sounds good to me.
xxxxxxx

theslownorris · 15/02/2008 17:52

Arrgghh! Half term hasn't even started properly and I'm already on the wine .

Shabster/triplets,I read that thread (normally ignore news threads altogether) and I can't believe people can be so self-centred and ignorant . I'm a great believer in Karma too.

On a good, note dd4 was weighed this morning-we have to keep an eye on it because of her health condition-and she has put on nearly 1lb in two weeks . Definitely got her mother's genes there .

Still not found the hamster but I did see some droppings behind dt1's bed so there's still hope.

Catch you all later, unless I fall into a wine-induced sleep! Zzzzzzzz.

shabster · 15/02/2008 17:58

hiya snorris (you 1000th message poster you }

youve guessed it DS4 read, just now, about the hamster. He needs to tell you that you HAVE TO STAY AWAKE ALL NIGHT - his hamster is not speaking to me cause I chucked all his bedding out and put clean in.

theslownorris · 15/02/2008 18:05

Dd1 can stay awake-it's her hamster . I like my sleep too much,in fact it's listed on my CV as a special skill .

theslownorris · 15/02/2008 18:07

I like your abbreviation of my name,I might have to use it now .

shabster · 15/02/2008 18:07

Oh I know what you mean = I can fall asleep on a chickens lip. xx

GodzillasRockinRollinBumcheek · 15/02/2008 18:21

I have no idea what other thread we are even talking about - but if people are insulting ma homies they can fark orf

Can i join the Northerners or am i not far North enough? (Grimsby area)

And IKWYM about the stupid comments - people still ask me 'oooh are they twins?'. If i insisted they dressed the same d'ya think it would make it simpler? Or perhaps we could carry placards?

iamdingdong · 15/02/2008 18:33

evening all, this thread is moving even faster than the last one!

shabs/tripss that thread is a disgrace, avoid it

shabs - I think I'm even further north than you, so don't take offence! Its just FG is way up there over the border, frolicking in the glen or something

Mars hope all goes well in Jamaica

theslownorris · 15/02/2008 18:44

I had somebody ask me what the age difference was between my two . Novel I suppose! A friend of my dsis always replies that hers are quads but she's left the other two at home . I've always wanted to use that one but never had the courage!

I've realised I'm more than an honorary Northerner . My Grandma comes from Rochdale and my Grandpa was Scottish (in fact my Mum was born in Glasgow). My Dad's side of the family are all from Dorset though.

TripleyTigger · 15/02/2008 18:57

Is Piximon house hunting tonight? Because i think I saw her about an hour ago

piximon · 15/02/2008 19:01

Not me TripEm, I should have been house hunting, but terrible traffic on motorway meant DH arrived too late.

TripleyTigger · 15/02/2008 19:24

Oh...darn!!!!
But I am very glad that I did not shout out however i did linger for a while trying to make eye contact........OH MY GOD my new neighbours in the street probably think I fancy them now

I already have one lesbian on FB stalking me,really don't want to encourage anyone else.....although i am secretly quite flattered

Behave yourself woman!!!!!!!!!!!

But, erm, don't you have to be a lesbian to be a lesbian stalker...or will you be stalking lesbians? ( Confused)

oooggs · 15/02/2008 20:17

people say to me 'ohh didn't you have them close together?' I reply 'yes 19 minutes' and walk off - they are 10 mths fgs they don't look that different in age

shabster · 15/02/2008 20:22

Bumcheeks - course you can join the Northerners - think Triplet is a closet Northerner anyway. More the merrier chuck.

When my DTS's were about 6 months we were shopping, with them in their twin buggy, dressed the same and, might I add, looking mighty fine!! There was about a 2pound difference between them (cause DTS2 had major heart problems).

A stupid old biddy stopped me and said 'Eh love aren't you feeding that little 'un' When I explained (and why did I) she said 'eh he wouldn't have survived in my day'

GodzillasRockinRollinBumcheek · 15/02/2008 20:23

I remember vividly wanting to punch several people when DTDs were that age

My temper hasn't changed either, oh dear.
Especially when people loudly exclaim - 'look, twins!'. I am right next to you!....do these people think that twins make so much noise you can't hear them or something?

shabster · 15/02/2008 20:25

TTigger - friend of mine is a lesbian - dont say the word out loud Peter Kay says if you do you will burn in hell.

She assures me I'm safe because she dosent fancy me - cant even cop off with a woman

TripleyTigger · 15/02/2008 21:29

The only people who have ever offered to buy me a drink or want a dance with me have been gay. I don't know what it is about me See, thats why I could never go to prison, has nothing to do with me having morals!!!! LOL

My sister on the other hand.................

(My mum even after all this time abides by Peter Kays rules Shabs )
