He met Woody and Jessie!?!?! Was it at Disneyworld or something? My DS would wet himself (well he does anyway since he is still in nappies) if he met Buzz. We always have to fast forward the first 5 mins of Toy Story as Buzz is not in it... Did it survive the toaster?

It's DS1's bday next week so I think I will buy him the double DVD with both films.

shabster · 11/02/2008 11:18

Oh Egg - just looked at your profile pictures - aaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww the children are amazing.

My DS4 also loves Toy Story (he's 10!!) but when his friend is here we are not allowed to mention it. He also tells his friend his fav. film is Nightmare on Elm Street!!!!!!! ha ha - he is more afraid of the Daleks on Doctor Who than I am.

Egg · 11/02/2008 11:28

hehehe Shabs! My nieces and nephew (aged 5, 7 and 8) all love Toy Story too. Don't think they are embarrassed yet, but oldest two are girls so maybe it is a boy thing. I don't know anyone that doesn't like it though.

Are you scared of current daleks or the ones that were on in the "old days". I haven't watched the new ones as it is always bath and bedtime and tv never on then (and can't be bothered to Sky+ now I have missed so much).

Just added two MORE pics. I can't help myself. You can't see the babies well in the new pic though, but you can see the fireplace in our rented house rather well .

Chopster · 11/02/2008 11:32

it was the spooky music in doctor who that always got me, I couldn't stand that!

Nope, it didn't survive the toast, it melted! There was a strange smell coming from it, and there is was, all warped. Thankfully the toaster survived, and we've got toy story 2 for now.

Yeah it was at disney. I didn't see buzz, not sure if they do meets with him, but they do a little street show with woody and jessie, and then they boys met them. There is an ace buzz ride though, with laser guns and a giant buzz, the boys loved that.

Chopster · 11/02/2008 11:36

have a pic of the boys with woody and jessie on my photos page.

shabster · 11/02/2008 11:38

Egg - everything about daleks is terrifying. When they could go upstairs in the current Doc. Who I almost wet myself with fear.

Yes I know quite irational! Eldest DS (26) is petrified of clowns so maybe it is a genetic madness thing!!

In Bolton every year they have a clown parade and DS1 walks through the town centre cursing and muttering and threatening to knock them out!! Ha ha - he's such a lovley man most of the time.

shabster · 11/02/2008 11:42

Chopster - great photo's!!

Now DS1 (26yrs) would defo punch the toy story characters right in the kissers!! They would freak him out till he ran behind me for comfort and protection.

They are so big and scary that he would .....I'm laughing out loud and imagining him seeing that picture.......

Egg · 11/02/2008 11:53

Chops how have I missed all your pics before? None look familiar but ALL are fab. Very attractive children, so cute. I agree with Shabs' biggest boy though, I find Woody and Jessie a bit scary and "clownlike" somehow. They are fab but somehow a bit eerie.

I believe a fear of clowns is not uncommon and even has a proper name "Coulrophobia" (yes I did have to google it, couldn't remember the word). And a fear of daleks is very acceptable...

shabster · 11/02/2008 12:02

Egg - a few years ago when DS1 got his own house and moved out he became quite poorly (mentally) and had to go and see a psyciatrist. The psyciatrist said that because he wasn't talking as much to me that his bereavement of his brothers was occupying his thoughts. He was having to sleep with the lights on etc and was crying a lot. Glad to say the psyciatrist did his job and after a few sessions DS was MUCH better.

He asked if DS was afraid of anything and he quickly replied 'clowns.' When they talked it through the ps came to the conclusion that - DS had copied the way I cope with things by putting on a mask for the outside world that when he saw a clown or puppet it reminded him of what a massive effort it is to pretend that 'I'm fine thanks.' Although that sounds mad I think he may have hit the nail on the head.

Human mind is a strange thing isint it?

Think that is only the second serious message I have done on Mumsnet!

Shabby! Just read your story... You are amazing! How is your DH now, dare I ask? Has he weathered the storm with you? X

shabster · 11/02/2008 15:10

Thank you ac - DH - has he weathered the storm?? I suppose he has cause its our 30th wedding anniversary in March - but the person I married was taken away - like in the film 'body snatchers'. Think I have become much more asertive and he's never quite sure what I will do or say next!

Chopster · 11/02/2008 16:47

Egg, when you meet the characters, they are so good,t hey move in exactly the same way they do in the films, they must all be proper actors/actresses, they really are good. I did expect the dts to be scared, but they raced straight up to them, it was amazing.

clowns are spooky, they jsut make me think of steven king's IT now in any case!

My irrational fear is ants. I can cope with one or two, but if there are more than a couple in the house I really freak out. Stupid really, cos I don't mind spiders, or rats, or snakes, jsut puny little ants that I hate!

accordiongirl · 11/02/2008 18:20

I can see his point of view you loose cannon you.
Congratulations on the big three-o! and don't go changing!

On a more liquid note, the boy's been sick twice today and I just feel like I can't deal with it at all. My irrational fear is puke! Give me a nice, dry, lump-free ant any day.

shabster · 11/02/2008 18:56

Agirl - I totally agree - puke is not good. If I puke it makes me puke, which makes me puke, and then I vomit.

Flying is not great either - even in an aeroplane.

BUT the worst fear/phobia is - the last minutes on holiday in Greece!!!!!!!!!

Think about it Rhodes or Bolton, Bolton or Rhodes - anyone votes for Bolton and I will spew!

MERLYPUSS · 11/02/2008 19:01

MARS I've emailed you - twice I think

frumpygrumpy · 11/02/2008 19:09

HULLO!!!

Calm is restored! We fitted a new filter and complained like mad for hours, days, weeks, forever to BT. Something has done it and I seem to be aboard without waiting 15 minutes to get onto the MN home page.

And me?

Up and down really. Big down then better. Same old, same old.

Mars, you wombat. The local baker does cakes right? Big plate, heaps of wee cakes, candles everywhere. That would have saved you, ooooh miliseconds of time today

frumpygrumpy · 11/02/2008 19:16

I bet nobody did it!

Ahhh, its nice to be home

OP posts:
frumpygrumpy · 11/02/2008 19:26

Jeez.

You come home and nobody cares. Nobody scoops you up in their arms and whirls you round. I was expecting slow motion running along the beach at least.
