triplets · 20/01/2008 23:57

night night everyone...........hi to Momma !

Chopster · 21/01/2008 08:15

Good Morning everyone.

Hope you and Steve had a good night, OJ.

Just been cleaning out the school snail - a giant african land snail called Shelly. Will be a big battle on my hands again, when we have to take it back to school this morning. The boys love it!

dd, when dd was 5, we were still living in croydon. About 1/3 of the class were Tamil, and she used to role play at weddings with them, which involved circumbulating a make believe fire! I guess at that age, really simple facts about different rituals would suffice?

Chopster · 21/01/2008 08:16

what about making valentines cards too, that is a big love and relationship ritual.

triplets · 21/01/2008 09:14

Momma...............does your absence mean you slept all night?

estar · 21/01/2008 10:28

Sorry Doris, but I'm with the anti-nut brigade: DH and DS1 (we discovered last week)are allergic to nuts but only 'mildly' which means they have to actually eat them and then they would be sick before anything life-threatening happens, so obviously we're not too bad. However, at least two of my friends are extremely allergic, which means that if they're in the same room as a nut, they go into anaphylactic shock!! I used to think it was a myth but it's actually true. I think when they put that stuff about 'made in the same factory as', they are just covering their asses in case anything happens tho, so I don't think that matters.

Idobelieveinfairies · 21/01/2008 10:55

Morning, this thread moves to fast for my brain...

LGT..you called??

largeginandtonic · 21/01/2008 12:00

Ahha there you are!

Do you use couldrons to cook the vast amount of food you need? We seem to be struggling with the normal saucepans.

Where do you buy your fruit? We get a vege box from Riverford it is not too expensive. The fruit is astranomical though. They all have a piece in the morning and one in their lunchbox and sometimes another piece after school, that is 15 pieces of fruit a day sometimes. Is it cheaper\easier to get it direct and can you do it?

I have cracked the washing system, they all have their own coloured tubs and the 8kg load washing machine we bought this month is blardy fantastic!

If you have a babysitter do you have 2?

What car do you drive?

There are more questions i'm sure Sorry.

MarsLady · 21/01/2008 12:10

I use huge pots but then I like to prepare in advance I find that normal large saucepans work and a huge frying pan.

I buy my fruit at the supermarket. I need to go back to my veg box system really (then I make more soup). I don't know if it's easier or cheaper. Sorry! Like you I put fruit in lunchboxes and then they have fruit in the evenings.

I could do with a larger machine. Mine is forever on. The coloured tubs is a brilliant idea. Mine have baskets.

I only used to get 1 babysitter. DS1 is now 15 and has been babysitting for me for ages. I don't pay him.

I don't drive.

Hi all.... rushing my lunch, off to see clients then home to study study study.

largeginandtonic · 21/01/2008 12:15

Cheers MARS! We too do lots of cooking in advance, have bought a chest freezer to accomodate it all!

The chickens arrive next month and i hope they lay...

Mars how do you not drive!!!!!!! You are everywhere

MarsLady · 21/01/2008 12:16

Public transport is a wondrous thing Besides.. how else could I read?

frumpygrumpy · 21/01/2008 12:25

Ooogs, Estar, HM, FG, TKB and Triplets then. no-one else noticed Shall we meet at McDonalds at the main service station?

frumpygrumpy · 21/01/2008 12:26

Not like her.........

Idobelieveinfairies · 21/01/2008 12:32

Yes, huge saucepans that i have had for years...that will need replacing shortly..and a bit worried that i won't find any as big.

We are very much a pasta family and cook lots and lots and have different meats/sausages/fish that mixes in depending on who likes what. lots of bread/garlic bread. Very easy meal and well liked by all.

Fruit and veg do cost a fortune!!!! and mine have to have lots of it for school lunchboxes too. We live in Jersey so we don't have any of your great supermarkets here ...i just pick the special offer ones and don't look at any prices, they have to have it so have to buy it. We do lots of carrot sticks as that seems to work out cheap! they all love grapes...but we rarely have them as they cost tooo much.

washing is a task and a half...1 day of not doing it and that is it..dommed!!! my machine just died...it got all confused saying the door was open when it wasn't..cant complain it has done so well. Got the hotpoint aqaueous (sp!)..excellent..highly recommend! i don't mind doing the washing though...cooking is what i hate! We have a couple of huge plastic tubs for the washing...i do about 3 loads a day. I hardly ever iron...i tumble dry lots and then fold/hang up straight away and i can usually get away with it! (usually). I don't have an ironing pile...as it is another stressful thing to look at, i iron anything that needs ironing in the morning direct from the wardrobe.

what else..what else...

Rarely have babysitters.....dont have any money after buying the fruit and veg...haha
Whan we do it is my sister.....the kids are USUALLY good so she dosnt mind.

we drive a toyota previa 8 seater. The older 2 rarely come out with us at weeekends now-always out with mates. they get the bus to school so can fit everyone in. DP has a nice work van too if we do need extra transport. We live very central though, shops, park, beach all the way round us..the schools are the furthest away. Primary is walkable, secondary is not walkable.

if there is anything else ..just ask!

largeginandtonic · 21/01/2008 12:37

We have the previa too!!! The twins will only be (hopefully) 10 nearly 11 by the time i have #7 so think we may need a 9 seater.

I do not iron either, far too lazy busy

Grapes are a no no in this house too, also lots of carrots! I grate the cheese and carrots together for sandwiches as the cheese goes further, plus it is healthier i suppose.

largeginandtonic · 21/01/2008 12:38

The washing basket is my nemesis.

The cooking i love, luckily!

Idobelieveinfairies · 21/01/2008 12:40

? eh! are you expecting LGT????.....have i missed that much!

cheese and carrots grated together for sandwichs sounds excellent-have never thought of that one.

Idobelieveinfairies · 21/01/2008 12:42

oh..and what colour your previa????!

largeginandtonic · 21/01/2008 12:43

Nope but trying hard IDBIF, i live in hope.

largeginandtonic · 21/01/2008 12:43

Tis silver underneath the grime

Idobelieveinfairies · 21/01/2008 12:45

Awwwwww..i am jealous....i would love another one, somedays i feel too old and that all the patience is gone...and other days i would loveeee to be pregnant.

Good luck with the trying....

Idobelieveinfairies · 21/01/2008 12:46
