Look, look! Not only am I here, but I've started a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GodzillasUnrecognizedBumcheek · 12/01/2008 22:16

But don't be like me and get really annoyed when they aren't early

Still on-subject - does anyone else think that stretchmarks are really just 'the luck of the draw' kind of thing?
My mum has had 6 kids and not a mark on her (and some of 'em were big, too, although admittedly not twins). Cow! I even gained more marks with DD3!!

GodzillasUnrecognizedBumcheek · 12/01/2008 22:17

And congrats too, millie

BibiThree · 12/01/2008 22:28

I am of the "stretch marks are luck of the draw" school of thinking. My sil didn't get any at 5ft and size 8 carrying a 10lb baby, I got covered carrying a 6lb baby at 5ft and size 14. We both used Palmer's Cocoa Butter religiously twice a day, I also topped up with Bio Oil after a shower to no avail.

GodzillasUnrecognizedBumcheek · 12/01/2008 22:38

I know - how dare these women get no stretch marks!! I have enough to share but does anyone take them? No!

I do blame the DTDs the most though - and wickedly tell them so [devil emoticon]
Evil little blighters don't give a damn though The youth of today 'eh?

GodzillasUnrecognizedBumcheek · 12/01/2008 22:40

Sorry am i scaring anyone, lol!

BibiThree · 12/01/2008 22:44

funnily enough, dd stretched me so much, the dts hardly gave me any new ones - and they came out early before the worst damage was done

GodzillasUnrecognizedBumcheek · 12/01/2008 22:50

Lol...mine at 7lbs 6oz and 7lbs 14oz were my first children so my tum never stood a chance really! Sorry, boasting alert! I paid for the size of them though, honestly! It was ace when i could balance a dinner plate to eat of my belly though - portable table

GodzillasUnrecognizedBumcheek · 12/01/2008 22:51

ofF my belly, even (not only do i sound likea cannibal but i'm eating my own belly!

millie1 · 12/01/2008 22:52

Thanks for the welcome ... am trying hard not to dwell on the fact that they might come early. Busy arranging shopping trips etc for weekends before I hit 30w so as once I get to that stage I can put my feet up !

On the subject of stretch marks ... to date I don't have any but heaven only knows what I'll be like after this! The varicose veins, however, are a different story

GodzillasUnrecognizedBumcheek · 12/01/2008 22:57

Ah, before i go then i shall tell you, millie, that i had stretchmarks covering from not far under my boobs, right down to my privates, but not one varicose vein.

My mum had plenty of V. veins but no stretchmarks!!

millie1 · 12/01/2008 22:59

Maybe it's one or the other?? My veins are simply unreal!

BibiThree · 12/01/2008 23:05

When I was pg with the dts I came on here asking people when they popped with their dts, and LOTS of them said 38, 39,40+ weeks! Don't worry about it, but always better to be prepared, right? The worst that happens then is that you get a long wait, sitting in your nursery admiring your handiwork, eating cake with your feet up on the rocking stool doesn't sound so bad, does it?

triplets · 13/01/2008 00:01

Ello ello,
Lots of newbies to welcome.....welcome newbies to the wonderful world of multipple madness!!!!!!! How is everyone tonight? So worried about Oj, poor poor thing, what a shock it must have been, but so very glad they are all ok, she has so much to deal with. Should be off to bed, but Thai curry and 3/4 bottle of Rose not helping to induce sleep!

Hi Momma.......triplets is not looking down tenderly on anyone, but glaring upwards, glad that everyone is asleep and she has some space and peace at last! How are those beautiful babes and your knight in shining armour?

triplets · 13/01/2008 00:49

Off to bed, mountains of ironing and homework to be faced in the morning, night night dear Momma xxxxxxx

MarsLady · 13/01/2008 02:29

Welcome millie. If you email me on lovelymarslady at aol dot com I'll send you a caesarean birth plan (ways to make your section more personal). That should help you get rid of the yuck factor.

nighty night girlies. I'm safely home from salsa. Funny I was too exhausted to move earlier and now.... bright as a button.

Leoloopydoo · 13/01/2008 09:46

I think stretchmarks are both genetic and luck of the draw. My mum (has 6 kids) and has horrendous ones. Me and my 2 sisters all have them (older sis had a tiny baby but still got them (but hidden though, she can still wear a bikini )- we are all small, slim and didn't put on much weight and I DID have really good stomach muscles, not ONE of my RL friends have them though and I'm sure because I was so conscious of it I took extra care to avoid them!

Triplets, how are you? You sounded very relaxed last night. How is your dh doing?

MERLYPUSS · 13/01/2008 10:37

I will be 25 weeks on Tuesday. I have no stretch marks on my tum but have always had them on my thighs since I was at senior school so don't know about being prone to them. I use Palmers cocoa butter (when I remember) and dont know if that is the trick or not. Belly feels as hard as a rock and not sure it can stretch any more. Three more weeks til c-sect though so it'd better.
Mars - can I have a copy of c-sect birth plan too please ? Pwetty please?

hope the rose worked and you slept well trips. Xx

Stretch marks OR varicose veins? Hmf, I wish! I have both in abundance. Veins started with my first, stretch marks with my second. Can't say I'm too bothered about the stretch marks - they are my battle marks and my belly is far too saggy to be on display! I do hate my legs, they are badly scarred from a weird of skin condition.

Ive just recovered from a 24 hour vomitting bug, keeping everything crossed the kids don't get it.

I meant 35 weeks. Doh! What a numpty .
Not exactly putting my feet up. Yesterday spent 4 hours at the allotment and felt like crap when I got home. Sis reckons I'm nesting there instead of at home. Have putt all the newborn baby clothes and towels in the basket ready to wash for hosp and so OH can just grab stuff from the cupboard if I stay in longer then a couple of days.

MarsLady · 13/01/2008 11:41

Just popping out to the farmers' market. Will email the plan to you one my return MERLY.

Morning all!

largeginandtonic · 13/01/2008 12:18

Happy Sunday to you all.

Pretty quiet here for a change. Baby in bed, 3 out playing, 1 watching TV and another doing homework. Me MN and debating a trip[ to Krispy Kreme shop...

I had no stretchmarks from the dts but loads from dd I have 1 more each pregnancy as a rule. I use Bio oil and lashings of moisturiser too, pretty sure it is a luck of the draw thing.

DH outside building a chicken coop We have always wanted them and have been researching it for ages and have finally got the wood. Chickens next month as the Washing machine broke on Thursday night so we had to spend our saved chicken money on a replacement. I got a monster! Holds an 8kg load

Welcome newbies >

FG did you have the white whine last night or did the tesco man disappoint?

There are plenty of midwives who have not had babies at all too, i was one of them! It makes no difference to the training at all
