Leoloopydoo · 11/01/2008 19:15

Welcome Twinkle. Mine were born 36+6. 2660g and 2450. they are almost 11 months and I am still breastfeeding ! I also have ds1 who is almost 3.

No wine here tonight, ds1 is sitting on my lap feeding me wasabi coated peanuts. dh is still at work and anyway we are having a non-alcohol month... until my b-day that is!

tkband3 · 11/01/2008 19:51

Hi Twinkle. I just have the 3 - DD1 was 20 months when the DTs were born at 37+4 weeks weighing in at 5lb7 and 5lb12. They were completely unplanned . Having started off really well, tandem feeding in the recovery suite after my CS, I only managed 5 weeks till DT1's oral thrush, pain and sheer exhaustion got the better of me. I'm sure though, that if I'd known Mars then, I'd have managed longer .

Can I make a leetle announcement? My DTs are potty trained . DT2 started off after Xmas and has done really well, but DT1 was completely adamant she wasn't interested until Sunday morning, when she suddenly decided she wanted to wear knickers. She's been good at the wee side - only a couple of puddles - but hasn't managed the poos until yesterday. Today she even managed it on the loo at a friend's. I am sooo chuffed - no more nappies . Think we might break open a bottle of veuve to celebrate . They have both done really well and I am really proud of them both.

HarrogateMum · 11/01/2008 19:55

tkb - how old are your DTs again?? I have one DT trained, he did it one month before 3rd birthday, but the other one WILL NOT, he blankly refuses and cries if I take him near the potty or the toilet....he is now 3.2............any ideas??

Congrats that yours are done though!!

tkband3 · 11/01/2008 20:01

Just spotted this. Our help is needed girls . Have linked her over here as well - ooh, I might have bagged my first newbie .

HM, they'll be 3 in March. I tried them at half-term last October, but they simply weren't ready - they didn't get upset at the idea of the potty, but just didn't get the hang of it. I think DT2 getting lots of praise and rewards (sweeties for each wee and poo and a present once she was clean and dry for a few days) spurred DT1 on. I'm certainly no expert, but if it's upsetting him so much, maybe just leave him and see if he does it on his own initiative in the next couple of months? DD1 was dry for ages but would only poo in a nappy until she was 3.6 - she would get hysterical if we tried to force it and no amount of bribery worked. One day, she just decided she would do it and we haven't looked back since. How are you doing anyway? Any news on the big move?

Hooray more babies! You are doing an excellent job cooking them well Kat, how exhausting it must be lifting a baby while carrying 2 in utero! Hat off to you lady.

Wont be long now i'm sure and we can all gaze at some more lovely twins.

I have got Aunt Flo i suffer very badly and will probably end up with a hysterectomy or womb ablation when i finish having children. But i have not had one since 27th July06!!! Hehe, dontcha just love being pregnant and then bf At least it means i should be bale to get pregnant gain next month I'm hoping for a pain in both ovaries...

Poor OJ, how much can one person take? Life is so unbelievably shite sometimes.

BibiThree · 12/01/2008 12:46

Hey everyone (particularly MARS) how were your festivities with the dts? Ours was a rushed affair, back and forth rellies houses but we had our christmas day on boxing day instead. Photo of the girls on my profile at the mo.

Also just had news that the dts will be my last babies ever. DH has had the all clear from his vasectomy, about which I am dreadfully sad as although the op was for the sanity and security of us all, i'll always hanker after another babbie.

largeginandtonic · 12/01/2008 13:08

Oh bibi they are so cute! I am pretty sure i will always hanker after another baby too. I was stood at the Iceland checkout next to an old lady and we got chatting. She said she was still broody and she was 90!!! I mean fgs i was kinda hoping it would fade after time.

MarsLady · 12/01/2008 13:41

Hi Bibi!

Good to see you! What gorgeous children you have there. I do hope you'll post regularly

Broody.......... Hmmm.... well I see enough births and cuddle enough newborns to not be broody.

ExpectingKat · 12/01/2008 13:58

thanx mommalove and largeginandtonic, hopefully won't be long fingers crossed. It deffinatly has been fun with havin DS, I suppose thats the one good thing about DH's redundency he has been able to help. Has anyone heard how egg and mini are doing with there twins?

BibiThree · 12/01/2008 19:39

I need a job that involved lots of newborns in order to keep my biological clock silenced...hmmm...have given serious thought to re-training as a midwife, but really I don't DO needles and the thought of giving a poor woman an episiotomy turns me into a squirming mess. I would love to do it other than that, especially as it seems like such an interesting job, change of pace all the time etc. And I know I'd give a damn sight better care to my women that I was given, be more up to date with my advice and actually know something about pregnancy. There, rant over. as you can tell, I found midwife care in my area rather useless and stressful to say the least in all 3 pregnancies.

So Mars, what's an ldc

BibiThree · 12/01/2008 19:40

And thank you kind ladies, my girls are gorgeous aren't they? Can't help being biased mind you.

MarsLady · 12/01/2008 19:50

lemon drizzle cake.

You could always train as a doula! No needles!

Leoloopydoo · 12/01/2008 20:33

LG&T, do you really think you may have more???? you mad woman that I admire so much! I am also broody on and off, if a little accident happened then I wouldn't be too disappointed, but we have talked about it and sadly because of money and practical things we think 3 is going to be it!

Mars, a doula is really off my list of new career possibilities isn't it because I haven't had a vb? ...although I could do the post-natal stuff.

MarsLady · 12/01/2008 20:41

Don't be daft Leo! Of course it's not. I know doulas who haven't given birth at all!

Just to let you know that the bribing with chocolate coins worked first go. Must get loads in so that I can do this regularly.

TripleyTigger · 12/01/2008 20:43
Leoloopydoo · 12/01/2008 20:47

Really Mars???? And they attend births?

You really bribed her with chocolate! Shame on you !

millie1 · 12/01/2008 20:51

Hi all ... this is my first post on this thread. Want to say Congratulations to Egg ... what wonderful news.

I'm 19+3 with twins, have two ds's. Spent about 5 weeks in denial following early scan but think that was a lot to do with extreme sickness. Got Cyclizine which helped immeasurably and went back to work this week after 13 weeks off! - and managed to cut back to 2 tablets a day rather than 3 which has thrilled me. These two are due on 5 June but consultant says 37/38 weeks - want to get to 38. Will be an elective section - both boys were elective c/s's due to breech positions so no choice really this time. Dreading the section from the word go. Am the size of a house already so don't know how I'll stretch for another 19 odd weeks.

And will no doubt need tonnes of advice over the coming months!

BibiThree · 12/01/2008 22:12

Hey Millie, Welcome! Congrats by the way.

Just wanted to say be prepared for the babbies to come a few weeks earlier than expected, just in case. I was told if I got to 32 weeks consultant would be over the moon (had complications), our next aim was elective c-section at 37 weeks. I saw consultant at 32 weeks and after glancing up at me waddling into room he said "you almost certainly won't still be pregnant for another 5 weeks" but I was a special kind of mahoosive!

Anyway, to cut a long story short, everything was ready by the weekend after that conversation and as one of the dts stopped growing I had a section at 35 weeks on the nose.

Be prepared and don't underestimate the skin's power of stretch!!!
