How did you manage to get Robert Plant to say hi to you? [puzzled emoticon]

You don't remember the children's birthweights? Do you remember their names? lol

HarrogateMum · 11/01/2008 10:21

I leave for less than 24 hours and there are PAGES to go through!! Congrats to Egg on REbecca and Jacob - lovely names!

Twinkle - welcome! My DTs were born at 39.5 weeks and both weighed the same 5lb 15oz each!!

Morning gang. I have the name Jacob on my short list too - congrats egg family.
Went for my hospital tour last night. Hmm . Don't know what to think. I wanted two birth partners but have been told i can only have one for a c-sect.
Also on the b/feeding front they have recommended that I express prior to taking my epilepsy tabs. Seeing as I have to take them twice a day this is probably not workable. I feel that everyone is trying so hard to cover the asses they wont commit. Surely if I am taking tabs on a regular basis my levels wont suddenly jump but by taking them they remain at a constant. Are you with me here ? And how long after I take them is safe ? I want answers not excuses.
Had a bloody awful night last night, prob still thinking about tour, with itching reaching an all time high.
BTW how many more multiple expectees left ?

MarsLady · 11/01/2008 11:02

merly.... email me. I'll put you in touch with a lactation consultant who should be able to give you some advice.

Even if you only express for the first few days and get the colostrum into them that would be great.

Longterm expressing isn't actually that bad. I have one woman who for various reasons was never able to bf her DS and pumped for 18 months. What you need is a good dual pump. Anyhoo... food for thought.

My fingers are numb and cold as I had to go back out in that weather. Sob!!!!!!!

theslownorris · 11/01/2008 11:24

Just quickly scanned the thread. I don't know if it's the "done" thing, but I live within reasonable distance of Egg (and my MNetting sister lives even closer to her ) If it's any help I don't mind delivering something if online proves impossible.

theslownorris · 11/01/2008 11:29

Gone back and read properly now.
Welcome to Twinkle, my twins were going to be my 2nd (and final) child. I now have 4 girls .
Btw they weighed 6lb 8oz and 7lb 3oz at just over 37 weeks .

fryalot · 11/01/2008 12:25

slownorris - thank you for the offer, but we have managed to find something suitable (we hope) thanks to inamuckingfuddle's links. They have guaranteed to deliver it before dinner time tomorrow, so fingers crossed that that happens.

Am still lurking, btw

TripleyTigger · 11/01/2008 12:34

He didn't say it sob sob

Mars I know I have a B a P and an M not sure what the rest of their name is though!!!
I have never been able to remember, even when they were first born. If people used to ask me, I'd either make it up or shout for Dh

Congratulations Egg!!!!!! How wonderful!

Mars, I thought the nipple too big to latch things was a load of crap! Unfortunately she is a friend of a friend so I didn't get to her in time, but the friend is also about to have a baby so I'll be more in contact with her.

what a load of old rubbish people are told about multiples - full term is 33 weeks , can't breastfeed multiples .....!

Mars, I've got a friend who bribed her 3+ year old to bed with chocolate..... , well if you are desparate anything is worth a try! Is she tired in the morning when she won't go to bed. Can you do something calming and relaxing with her? Ds1 is younger than your dt1 but I get into bed with him and read to him, then he had a choice to goto sleep or look at a book, but he has to stay in bed. We had some fights in the beginning but now he knows the rules!

Nice to see you back T&T!

Funny thing about the missing baby thing - I had a singleton and then twins, but now when I see people with only one baby I have to look twice and wonder what they have done with the other one!

My 3rd and last day at work for the week! I've been making a huge effort to get into it this week. It is tolerable, but the days are long. (we work a 42 hour week here). By the time I get home in the evening the dts have had enough are really tired and really need me, they are clingy and unsettled until I feed and put them to bed. Ds1 is great! Was asleep before I got home on Wednesday though which I was really upset about. I miss them all so much.

Momma, your nursery sounds great!

TripleyTigger · 11/01/2008 14:43

'Tis crap indeed!!

Even though I don't know my kids names I carried them until 34 weeks(when they made me have them Grrrrr....) and breast fed them too!!!

fryalot · 11/01/2008 14:43

and how was the theatre last night, marslady, daaaaarling?

triplets · 11/01/2008 16:13

A warm welcome to Twinkle and her little stars! It will be fine, just look at us lot on here, all you need to survive is a good sense of humour, and Mumsnet! My dtriweighted in at 32 weeks, 4.3, 4.7 and 2.15!! And I can remember their names

triplets · 11/01/2008 16:14

Messy message..............I`m tired

largeginandtonic · 11/01/2008 16:29

CONGRATULATIONS EGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Jacob dt too! Lovely names and a natural delivery how fabulous.

TWINLE worry not tis only 5 How old are the oldest? I have dts who are 9 and both are an excellent help with the younger ones. Welcome to the slightly unhinged world of the multiples, we have wine at the ready

CHOPS oh you have been missed, hope you had a fabulous time. I went to Disney in Paris with my entire family once when i only had 4. They had promised it would be all child centered and of course we were abandoned after the Euro Star journey there Hey ho, we all enjoyed ourselves anyhoo.

SQUONK we lurve visitors here, specially those who bring such lovely news. I will bake brownies and Bounty cake tomorrow if your still around.

new baby twins, i really do think i want another set you know...

frumpygrumpy · 11/01/2008 16:46

DTs born 40+5 (I am so proud of that as I equate it with an Oscar winning pelvic floor non? Or maybe just that I was so stressed at the time that my body was not relaxed enoug to give them up ), 5lb 15oz and 6lb 13oz.

I'm having a f*** off sort of a day. And I fell on the ice a wee while ago and have hurt myself. I went up into the air in slow motion thinking "oh bugger this is going to hurt"

It will be a glass of wine night as soon as the Tesco man gets here.........

p.s. Twinkle, welcome

frumpygrumpy · 11/01/2008 16:47

Where's Kelly? I sent her a parcel........

Chopster · 11/01/2008 16:49

I got tablet !!! grin thank you tv, it is delicious, defo have to learn how to make it.

Welcome to twinkle and congratulations. My DTs were totally unplanned and I went from 2 to 4. I think it does take a while to get used to the idea, I remember a lot of sleepless nights. Mine weighed in at 6lb and 6lb7 norn at 38 weeks - quite a bit less than my singles at 8 and 9.7.

Merleypuss, if express feeding is your only option it is possible and worth considering. I found feeding the DTs on the breast really hard with the other two to look after so ended up express feeding them. I stopped at 6 mnths - same as the singles. I just used a bog standard agent pump and expressed loads I start with but eventually down to 3x a day, producing 50-60oz. I even had leftovers. I had great support from another mnetter with dts who had carried on with it far longer than I did.

Chopster · 11/01/2008 16:54

MERLYPUSS · 11/01/2008 18:06

Thanks peeps. Will try to find out more about how long is a 'safe' time after drugs and if they can't answer will give it a go anyway as my drugs have very little documented complications recorded and they are all reversible. We will have to see.
MARS - I did mail your lady and am awaiting a reply so ta hun.
Will catch up tomorrow.
