Nah!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loving it too much at the moment.

Those stereo moments with the DTs though..... they make me want to put the world on pause occasionally.

Had a fab night out dancing. Saw that IAMF filled the thread and didn't even start a new one

So here it is and if you don't like the title.... well it's almost 3 in the morning. What's a Mars to do?

Chopster LG&Ts twins b'day not mine !

LOL EM.

Chopster, I do the shusshing and patting as long as I can and as many times as I can get out of bed, but it usually falls to pieces with the 3am waking. THat one seems to be the worst, they really struggle then to go back ot sleep and thats when i start to lose patience. If I kick dh out to take over he usually screws the whole thing up. So I'm thinking of keeping him home for a few days so I can sleep during the day and have the energy at night to see it through the whole night for as many nights as it takes.

chopster · 17/10/2007 11:19

oops, sorry lgt!

I'd go for it leo, if you can. The rest would do you good too.

Those pg with dts, do NOT read!

wow, they do sound similar. dt2 was very lucky. He fell about 10 foot I think, landed on his legs, and only suffered bruising. He was nearly 2 I think, and I didn't realise he could opent he window, and I had forgot to lock it. I had put him up to bed and had a neighbour knock on the door because he was standing outside the front door crying!

He had a succesion of accidents really, nearly chopped his finger off with a biscuit tin, drank a bottle of perfume, ate his gran's angina tablets. Thank god he has calmed down a little bit.

TrickORTripletEm · 17/10/2007 11:50

Found Bran on the roof of the shed (man hut)once!! Massive thing that DH had built. He left the ladder leaning against it and I walked out to find bran on top shouting"Hi mummy look at me!!"
He is into throwing himself off of his bike at the moment!! Jumps off as it is going along and commando rolls over the grass making 'kung foo' noises!!
Scared to take him to the park anymore as he launches himself from the top of the slide without grabbing the bar and his bum dosen't even touch the slide untill he reaches the bottom!!!
I'm surprised that the school haven't phoned social services yet with the amount of bruises that he is covered in,I dread the summer when he is wearing shorts!!
And to think i was really pleased when I thought that I was having all boys!!

chopster · 17/10/2007 11:56

Oh god, I think I shoud rehome shay before it's too late!

nh101andhertwinbeans · 17/10/2007 12:03

Thanks for the info Marslady and everyone else!

Unfortunately nh101 is the name I used to use on moneysavingexpert.com (the chat board I was addicted to before mumsnet!) so when I joined MN in January I just used the same name. And now I have lots of pals on the pregnancy and ttc boards (mostly the ttc after miscarriage bunch as I had a MC in March) so it is with me for the duration now!

Everyone else calls me nh, so maybe you can use that (cos my twins won't be beans for long!)

TrickORTripletEm · 17/10/2007 12:09

I'm thinking about changing mine. Just haven't got the brain power at the moment!!

How are you doing today NH?

TrickORTripletEm · 17/10/2007 12:15

Ewwwww!! sorry NH I sounded like Joey from friends then...How you doin'?!!!

Wasn't trying to chat you up....honest

nh101andhertwinbeans · 17/10/2007 12:22

He Em, I was OK this morning but have now started to feel sick (which has been the usual pattern). Just been reading about the birth and really hope I'll be able to have them naturally. I really want to breastfeed them both too. Thankfully I will have lots of keen helpers (mum, MIL and three sisters who are all mums themselves!)

Just thinking about how fat I am going to get (not that the weight bothers me but I do worry about being uncomfortable or not being able to move around easily). I am only 9st so it is going to be quite a change! I have read that I should expect to gain at least 3st?

And I'm also thinking about how unfair it is that I will have to come back to work after 12 months mat leave even though my babies will be only 9 or 10 months old (depending on when I have to start mat leave). I get 18 weeks at 50% pay which has to be paid back if you don't come back in 12 months, but I am hoping they will give me another 6 months off (which would be unpaid of course so I hope they will agree)

How many weeks were you all when you started mat leave?

Seems unfair that I only get one lot of mat leave, mat pay, SMP etc!

nh101andhertwinbeans · 17/10/2007 12:23

X-posted there - I didn't think you were chatting me up!!!

MarsLady · 17/10/2007 12:26

nh.... fair enough.... but I still think we can get you a funkier name! We're here for all types of advice and nonsense fun! lol

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LG&T DTs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Leo..... can't believe the boys are old enough to be crawling already. Seems like yesterday that they were born. When they wake, what happens if you ignore them? I think it's a good idea to get your DH to stay home a few days so that you can break the night time cycle. You're doing better than you think.

Okay... to make up for the busy madness in my life recently today I had my feet carved (chiropodist) and then I had a hot stone massage. Bliss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway now I'm going to be decadent!!!!!!!! I'm going to have some Heinz tomato soup and fresh bread from the bakery and I'm going to catch up with the stuff on TV that I've sky+ed and never get a chance to see. So chat later my gorgeous ones!

TrickORTripletEm · 17/10/2007 12:30

I stopped work when I was about 5months pg, so I'm not sure about mat.leave.

as for weight I went from 7 1/2 to 11 1/2 stone!! (I think I stopped weighing myself after that!!)
Everyone is different and I know that triplets only put on a stone and a half and she has no stretch marks
You must be sooooo excited!!
I breast fed mine for the first three weeks, but it got to much as my milk never really got going properly as they were 6 weeks prem, and also having three I could have done with a spare boob!!!
I'm sure it will be posible for you to have a natural birth, I was too posh(yeah right!)to push unfortunately, but it had still been a possibility for me even with three right up until the last minute.

nh101andhertwinbeans · 17/10/2007 12:42

I have a question for you wise ladies...

At what stage of my pregnancy will I be too fat/tired/fed up to go for a weekend away?

My FIL is 60 next April and wants to take the family for a weekend away. I will be 32 weeks pregnant then. He wants to take us to Oxford (we live in the northwest- it's 3 hours' drive) on the Friday, stay in a hotel there, then on Saturday travel to London on the train, go to a matinee show in the West End and then go back to Oxford for a meal and another night in the hotel.

My SIL (who lives in Oxford) will have a four month old baby then and FIL and MIL reckon she can leave the baby with her mum for the day and night. She doesn't want to do this and I fear the whole weekend will be a nightmare for me. So it might be best for her and me if the trip doesn't happen!

Before I knew I was having twins I mentioned to MIL that if I were to find out I was having twins the trip might not be a good idea (I have been on Clomid so we knew the risk of twins was higher) so shall I say go ahead with the trip or say there's no way?

Egg · 17/10/2007 12:46

Ah nice to see everyone in fine spirits today . Nh I started at just over 8st and am 9st now at nearly 25 weeks, even though I eat like a horse (and not good food either, all the fattening crap). I lost weight at first, and then gained slowly, but it is coming on faster now. I gained just under 1.5 stone with DS so am presuming I might gain about 2.5 stone this time, but who knows! I love the fact that my bump makes my bottom etc look smaller, so I feel quite slim despite the bump.

Am also really hoping to breastfeed. Luckily my lovely doula is training to be a breastfeeding councellor at the mo so she will be on hand to help, plus she is part of a company that consists of her (post natal doula), a birth doula and a dedicated breastfeeding councellor. Having said that, I had quite a lot of trouble with feeding DS for the first few weeks, so will see how it goes and if I have to bottle feed then so be it, I wont be too stressed about it unlike last time!

Having spent ages making sure DS didn't get his sleeves in his beans at lunch, I have just found bean juice all up my own sleeve, on my freshly cleaned WHITE top. I forgot wearing white is a mistake...

DS has been issued with an asthma inhaler today . Although if it makes a difference to his incessant cough then it will be a good thing. He is very keen to play with it, not sure if any actually got in his mouth though.

chopster · 17/10/2007 12:49

32 weeks hmm. I think I did manage one night out around then, to the cinema and a restaurant. And as long as you don't have to drive, yous hould be able to rest in the car. Plus, most of these other twin mums here were far fitter than me at that stage, so I reckon you should be ok. Just don't plan to fit anything else in, and personally I'd eat in London after the theatre, because I'd have been too tried to go all the way to oxford then think about going to a restaurant. west end to oxford is a bit of a drive.

TrickORTripletEm · 17/10/2007 12:54

Chopster pmsl at the candles!!

By about 32 weeks I was ready for the knackers yard!!

Egg · 17/10/2007 13:09

nh I would have been fine for that kind of weekend with single pregnancy, but not sure about twins. I do get very tired, much more so than last time, and for example having my sis and her children to stay for a couple of nights here wears me out, just because we are more active and go out for the day etc. However if you are not on the go all day, and get plenty of rest in between events, you should be fine. Trouble is you just can't tell...

If I didn't have DS, I would be up for that kind of weekend at this stage for MY father, but prob not for FIL as a weekend with the inlaws would kill me at any time, pregnant or not.

nh101andhertwinbeans · 17/10/2007 13:10

The reason we are going to Oxford after London is so SIL can go home to feed her baby if she needs to. This is why she doesn't want the trip either - who has a family celebration and doesn't include their only grandchild?! The baby will have to stay at home. Outrageous. If it was me I'd tell them I wasn't coming if my baby wasn't invited too.

I think I may tell them to book it but to understand that when the time comes I might not be able to come (and DH might not be able to either!)

Egg · 17/10/2007 13:17

I think that plan is best, then you can just seen how you feel. You might really feel up for it, but if you don't you can just say you are exhausted / on best rest / sick / in labour etc...

chopster · 17/10/2007 13:17

tbh, I would try to make the most of an nice adult night out, especially before those dts arrive! Can't your sil express some to leave behind, and then enjoy her evening?

cross posted with egg, hope the inhaler works for your ds1, with a bit of luck he should jsut grow out of it. Does he have a spacer? I thought they were recomended for children anyway, I'm sure it has been dicussed on mn somewhere.

TrickORTripletEm · 17/10/2007 13:19

Yep! My ds has a spacer and 1 brown preventer inhaler and one blue inhaler. Sorted his night coughing out and we give it to him when he has a cold as well.

Egg · 17/10/2007 13:24

Yep he has the spacer too. That's the bit he likes best. I think his inhaler is the blue one (too lazy to get up and check). Seems like so many little ones have them now. I remember when I was at school it was just one or two children in the whole year.

Agree about adult night out, you might WISH you could go on a weekend like that once the DTs are born, and not be able to, but if you feel like cack then you wont enjoy it anyway. I have a friend's 40th bday at end of Nov when I will be about 30 weeks and I am really looking forward to it, but it is a sit-down meal and is only one night, not even overnight, so can leave if I feel too knackered. I can't wait for a proper evening out with just adults!

Leoladyofleisure · 17/10/2007 13:38

NH101 - I would leave it open for as long as possible and see how you feel then. at 32 weeks I couldn't do much more than drag myself from bed to sofa, sofa to bed, but Doris (who isn't around much anymore) was walking 2 miles a day at 41 weeks (if I remember correctly). Don't worry about the weight, just do what your body tells you to do, eat as much as you need, you babies need it and you will give them a much better chance. I went from 57 to 69kg with both my single and twin pregnancy but have put loads on since then. Natural birth is possible, get as much information as possible about hte birth because it seems to be the trend to pressure multiple mums to have c-sections.
Breastfeeding, I'm still at it and the dts are almost 8 months! The first few days was hard but if you demand support and help you will get it, from then on the wonderful Marslady who hangs around here has given me loads of support, advice and encouragement.

MArs, yes my little boys are almost 8 months!!! They are quite a bit slower than ds1 wiht getting themselves around (he started walking at 10mnths), but I'm quite happy with that !

Try to get back later to talk about the sleepless thing, babies crying....!

Leoladyofleisure · 17/10/2007 13:38

Oh, I did go for dinner at about 33 weeks.
