Bloody hell, DT's have Croup. Sounds like a seal sanctuary up there, maybe Greenpeace will come and rescue them?

frumpygrumpy · 22/09/2007 21:57

4under5 · 22/09/2007 21:59

Evening all,
You all sound so busy, studying, holidays, poorly bubs etc, where as we have only just had dinner, house still a complete tip with clothes everywhere. I am on maternity leave and OH has been off all week, yet we are still in complete madness. What's the trick eh? Any of you ladies with new bubs and in the madness stage still? I reckon someone is speeding up time here as the time in between feeds goes so fast, feel like always feeding...

4under5 · 22/09/2007 22:35

Frumpygrumpy - just read back a bit and noticed you said your second placenta wasremopved after half an hour. My DS2 was born at 1.05am and they left me till 6am to remove. Whole time I was having contractions, it was aweful. Someone told me that shouldn't have happened. Doesn't sound right does it, when they didn't want to leave you longer than half an hour... Has everyone gone to bed?

MarsLady · 23/09/2007 11:53

4under5... that's awful about your placenta!

FG......... I salsa and then I get drunk! lol and if that's you telling me you're coming for a visit I'll just pop up and open the window in your room!

Had a fantastic birth yesterday! Then went to my friend's birthday do and go a lot bit drunk! Oops!!!!!!!!!!!! I started the evening by saying that I wouldn't be drinking

Anyhoo back to study for me! Waiting on 2 births and only 2 assignments to complete by Tuesday!

estar · 23/09/2007 12:23

4under5, the secret I discovered was that house is always going to look like crap and you have 2 decisions a) stay in and battle with it all day, while kids create mess faster than you can disperse it, or b) add something else to your life (for me it was three years of part-time study) so that at least I wasn't sitting looking at the crap all day and felt like I'd had a break from it. It was all still there but at least I felt like I'd accomplished something that day.

Everyone's different tho - you know what you best cope with.

My plans for half term are to GIVE BIRTH! Due on the first Saturday, which would be perfect as the children could then be dispersed between family members and stay over in grandparents houses, be taken for days out, etc. In reality, because all babies in my family are overdue, it will prob arrive on the Tues the kids go back, thus ensuing most chaos, difficulty and disruption to EVERYTHING. Place your bets please....

JuA, before we moved, nursery started an incident book purely for dt2 . That was tough. New nursery seem much better though, and are talking about getting behavioural development person to come in and look to see if he needs any help. Much more positive approach to it and I'm much happier.

4under5 · 23/09/2007 14:14

To tell you the truth I don't worry that much about the house, well it gets me down but I find it hard giving everyone their own time. My 2 yr old has a speach delay so needs a lot of encouragement, he can get very frustrated. I feel sorry for him as DS1 has just started school so we rush out, then nearly as soon as we get back the babies start. I have to feed them and get them sorted and dressed etc. Try to involve DS2 as much as possible but he does tend to get bored towards the end. Then I feel bad as I shove on Lazytown or Peppa pig, give him some fruit and hope he;ll sit quietly until babies are settled. Not very good for a buba with speach delay. Next thing I know it is lunch time, then he has a nap and then time to get DS1. Sorry to rant and I know that so many people are a lot busier than me, but it is the spending quality time with everyone that gets me down.

MarsLady · 23/09/2007 14:36

But they will survive 4U5... I promise!

JuA.... Don't worry. The nursery sound lazy! They probably pay more attention to your DTs because they are DTs. They are likely to be no better and no worse than the other wee darlings!

I was once told by a very wise older woman...... Why clean the mess till the messmakers have left home? It is a philosophy that I live by!

MarsLady · 23/09/2007 15:13

think I've hooked us a newbie! Best behaviour ladies!!

Leoladyofleisure · 23/09/2007 19:23

Helloooooooooooooooooooooo! We have been away on holiday for 3 and a bit weeks, but I was a bit out of touch with everyone before I went away anyway (doesn't mean I don't think about you all though)..... off to scan to find out the big news now!!!!!

oooggs · 23/09/2007 19:29

leo - what is a typical day for your dt's? If you don't mind thank you

Leoladyofleisure · 23/09/2007 19:33

Congratulations Mommalove !!!!!

Leoladyofleisure · 23/09/2007 19:46

Hi Ooogs, typical day - its been a bit untypical because we have been on holiday. But at the moment its vaguely working like this (they are just ove 7 months now) -

7am wake up cuddle in bed with me and feed.

8am cereal and fruit for breakfast.

9-9.30 sleep. They wake up anytime between 10 and 11.30.

12.00 lunch

1.00 sleep (sometimes much later if they havea long morning sleep), but usually a short sleep.

2.30/3.00 feed (its hit and miss if they are interested in feeding at this time.

5.30 dinner

7-7.30 feed and go off to sleep.

In between they play, they cry a lot at the moment as they get extremely frustrated. Can't sit themselves up and pusing themselves along the floor in the wrong direction.

I was having a nightmare and had no structure at all on holiday, the nights were hell. My sister (staying at her place on holiday) had a copy of the contented little baby book and I tried to follow her feed sleep routine, although I let them sleep when they need to during the day and don't wake them up. The feeding structure seems to work as (although they still wake up quite often at night) they don't wake up hungry in the night anymore.

What is going on with yours?

oooggs · 23/09/2007 19:50

just trying to get some structure on feeds mostly and naps so yours only have 3 feeds (milk) a day? morning, mid pm and evening?

Leoladyofleisure · 23/09/2007 20:04

Yes just about 3 times, but its quite new. Before I was still feeding them several times a night . Yours are a couple of months younger aren't they? What are they doing? I would guess that they probably should have a mid morning milk feed as well. How long have they been on solids for?

DS1 was on much more milk at this age though, he was a real milk baby (still is), the dts don't seem to have the same passion for milk.

largeginandtonic · 23/09/2007 20:16
