hi meerlypuss - congrats and welcome

mars - love that pram

accordiongirl - your delightful dts share my birthday

chopster · 17/09/2007 10:09

welcome merlypuss!

Don't feel bad about a section - it isnt an easy option! I've done both and vaginal is harder before the birth and with a section you are having a major op, and it is harder afterwards. So don't let anyone make you feel bad - you are doing what is right for your situation.

If you want a twin that is easy to get in and out of the car, I'd go for a nipper. It's very lightweight, it's what I'm currently on. I love that pear though, I'd have gone for that if they'd had that when mine were born. I had a jane powertwin, and then an emmaljunga (very heavy but lovely) and now the nipper.

Definately not the two singles option. I have singles and clips for hols. The idea is that at the airport one of us pushes the luggage and one pushes the buggies. It is actually easier to push two seperately than use those bloody clips tho! They make the pram impossibly wide, so you can't get through any doorways, and they don't hold very well, so the wheels tend to keep getting stuck.

Welcome Merlypuss.

Tkband3, DS is 14 years old. He's been playing bass for nearly 2 years. I'm extremely proud of him. His school have put him in to do Music Technology 2 years early, as they think he's so good.

Thank you ladies, for all your kind comments - he'll be a very chuffed boy when I show him later.

Oh, and those dreading the teens with their boys, in my experience, it's definitely not all bad.

Meeely2 · 17/09/2007 11:49

welcome welcome merlypuss! That icandy is mega, loving it!

Fab weekend in the meeely household this weekend. Went to 2 BBQ's on saturday, boys were such angels, ate loads, played nicely and were a joy. They are way more socialable since holiday, will play with anyone.

Sunday we dared to venture to Ikea, actually bought a naughty spot (ducks to avoid the anti-supernanny missles). I figured that her theory is good, even if her method is flawed. The boys seem to respond to 'time out' and since our stairs are hidden in the hallway, I can't use the naughty step. So had been using the naughty 'corner' but because the boundaries aren't defined it wasn't working very well. I bought the naughty spot, showed the boys what it was and explained what it was for, but since then we haven't had to use it. It seems just the threat is enough at the mo!

Has anyone got any tips about ditching the nighttime nappies? Both my boys are still waking up with pretty full nappies, but do strip off and wee in the potty as soon as they are up. we wee before bed, but they still seem to have plenty in reserve for over night. Should I just wait? I guess at least if they got a nappy on i can gauge in the morning how much they are wetting at night. we are dry in the day btw.

oh and rain macs? now they in preschool i need to be more prepared for all weathers as they go outside all the time....can't seem to find any.....

Hello ladies, been offline for nearly a month after moving house, back again and awaiting scan for the twins on Thurs, can't WAIT.

Hi Merlypuss, you are on the Feb thread with me too! Can't believe we have FIVE sets of Feb 08 twins due.

Also having many dilemmas on buggies. Had decided on Nipper, now realise front door is too narrow. Not keen on tandems, but do think that icandy one looks lovely. Like the look of First Wheels City Twin as can use carrycots or carseats and remove them to get babies through door without waking them. Anyone used one?

Mars. Just wanted to update you on doula situation. Had various convos with lovely lady you put me in touch with. In the end we decided she lived just too far away but she put me in touch with a very local lady, who is lovely lovely and we have booked her up. She has a twin booking next month so will be well practiced for me! Woohoo .

Bounty cake? Does that involve...BOUNTIES? AND CAKE????????????

ExpectingKat · 17/09/2007 14:30

Hi everyone, Hope all is good.
I'm also havin trouble with what pushchair to have, wouldn't be such a problem with just twins but havin DS and only being 1 when their due I know I'm going to face fact and have a triple I shall never go shoppin into town on the bus again lol
I have found a twin pram on ebay which I love cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-NEW-Double-Pram-choose-1-of-8-colours_W0QQitemZ220149587821QQihZ012QQcategoryZ6 6700QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem but just can't see how it will be ok for my situation.

Did i hear cake mmmmmmmmmmmmmm (puts aside chocolate bar and waits with plate)

chopster · 17/09/2007 16:40

expectingkat, if you like that sort of thing, try talking to emmaljunga, their double is similar, and you could possibly get a toddler seat. Or make do with a sling for a bit, and then use the toddler roller. Personally in your position I'd go for the new zealand version of the mountain buggy which can be converted to a triple with a tollder seat.

inamuckingfuddle · 17/09/2007 17:36

expectingkat I have an Emmaljunga twin pram I no longer use - in fab condition, if you're interested?

no, it won't hurt, go on, it'll do you good

FG where've you been?

MERLYPUSS · 17/09/2007 19:33

You ratbags . I can't even make up my mind what to have for tea let alone what push chair and now you throw a Nipper into the mix. Oh wanted a 3 wheeler but I wasn't sure. WhadoIknow? What about the travel system for twins or is a waste of money and go for a decent car seat/s that will last longer ? Will prob need 2 sets of seats as we are so disorganised that oh will go to work with seats in the back.

On a totally different note. Cravings. I am craving lemon sorbet, acidic sherbert or sickly sweet pink milkshake (which used to make me gag before pg). Do you think it could be one twin likes one and one the other he he.

estar · 17/09/2007 22:37

Hello all, inc newbies and those currently blossoming with their little bundles in bumps .

I am sorry, ladies, my brother is married, with kids, and whatsmore, his wife is a clean freak too. There's just no justice in the world, is there? Those who like tidying should disperse themselves evenly amongst those of us who are deficient. Oh well, at least I never nag DH about his slovenly habits - I'm too afraid he'll turn round and tell me all about mine!

DTs were four yesterday. It's ridiculous - how are they allowed to be that old? Had a wonderful day with family and friends, actually felt relaxed for once because the house was tidy, and today they have all been a nightmare at school and nursery because they were worn out. C'est la vie.

I've just dropped my phone in the bath. I'm no technical expert, but I'm thinking that's not good ?

MarsLady · 17/09/2007 22:42

take the phone apart. Remove the battery and leave it all alone to dry for about 48 hours! It's esp important that the battery dries!

And no........... dropping it in the bath is not good you silly dear woman!

estar · 17/09/2007 22:49

Sorry Mars. I did take it apart straight away - I'd just got out of the bath and gone to settle down the boys again, heard it ringing and went back in time to see it vibrating its way off the edge and into the water. I'll have to see tomorrow.

I have a question, Mars, if everyone can just turn their heads away for just a moment.... The mucus plug - is it vastly different than excess discharge, I mean, you'd know if you'd passed it, would you and wouldn't just dismiss it? I don't know, having had all mine induced before.

As you were people, nothing to see here.
