C'mon girls. Got bored of waiting and started the new thread!

Thanks for all the compliments about my dtds...they find it all quite bemusing sometimes i think. On the one hand there arethose (idiots) who name-call because of their colouring, but then they also get lots of total strangers saying (extra loudly and crowing quite often) "ooooh haven't they got beaaauuuutiful hair!", and occaisionally stroking their heads!
They are going to be two seriously confused adults!

Leo...hope you're getting sorted, was at this stage with dd3 last month, but she's always been a PITA. In the nicest possible way of course!

I have tried some of the techniques in the "how to get kids to listen" book such as describing "beds are for sleeping in, not for jumping on" etc but doesnt appear to have that much effect on the DTs who dont listen to me anyway!

My SIL in Brisbane has a good one that she uses on her 5 year old when she starts acting bossy. She basically says to her "who are you?" and when she says "I'm Ruby", she says "not the Ruby that I know" and she suddenly gets in line!

frumpygrumpy · 09/08/2007 17:36

HM, I'm finding the book works great on my DD who is 6.5, its not so helpful with my DTs who are newly 3 back to the old "is it age or is it twins" thought.

One thing that works well for me (most of the time) in public is when I say "oh dear, what a horrible noise (tantrum), that man/woman/little boy is looking at you". They tend to stop to see who I am talking about and in that moment I can move them on and distract them with something else.

Funny how you truly believe you will never be the mother who has major tantruming children in public......or was that just me

Kelly, it was much more sinister I'm afraid. I was going to pack Meeely in the box so we would hear no more tippy taps about it Your idea is better.

chopster · 09/08/2007 18:17

Aaaaaaaaaargh!

dt1 now has impetigo. The bloody gp has buggered off home early and the out of ours service doesnt open til 6.30 so then I'm going to have to drag him up there.

We spent all morning tryign to confirm the apartment and collection of the keys - she decided not to answer her phone for 24 hours, I am so stressed I want to explode!!!

frumpygrumpy · 09/08/2007 18:47

Kelly how stressful - last thing you need tonight. Sending you luck and serenity

My DT2 has suspected impetigo! ABs for him today.

Good luck sweetheart xxx.

oooggs · 09/08/2007 19:34

anyone used reuseables on twins? should I start another thread?

Leoladyofleisure · 09/08/2007 21:20

just a quickie,
FG, thank you, Mars has got me sorted out, and the babies are feeding much better again today. I think they were teething and ds complained about a sorethroat os maybe they had it as well.

Mars, THANK YOU!!! I'll reply to your email but too tired (got to go to bed) to do it justice right now.

Mommalove, I crawled between the sofa and my bed for the last few weeks of my twin pregnancy. Its tough, I'm impressed that you can sit comfortably enough to work.

I'll put up a belly (but no flesh exposed) photo as soon as I have time to find it and work out how to reduce the size again!

Kelly, had fish curry tonight but couldn't yet get to the indian shop to buy the spices so made it with a pakistan curry prepared spices and it was yummy!

Lots of love to everyone else.

GodzillasBumcheek · 09/08/2007 21:45

Poor los with impetigo...hope they aren't too bad, just had to look up what it was and it looks horrid.

GodzillasBumcheek · 09/08/2007 21:47

As for reuseable nappies - ROTFL...not a chance, still haven't got a tumble drier (no room), and can you IMAGINE the start-up cost

You can try 'em i guess, if you buy the eco sort and the nasty-landfill-wasting type (lol...sorry), you can see if the eco ones work without panicking too much if they don't.
It would make going green sooo much nicer if it cost the same (or even better, cheaper) than the non-ef stuff though.

JuA · 09/08/2007 22:26

I use reusable nappies with my girls! Its not that much work once you get into the swing of things and dh is very good at shoving them in the wash We used them with dd1 so knew what we were doing and the council gave me a stack of nappies so we have saved loads of money!

Hope the impetigo clears up quickly - dd1 had 2 lots of antibiotics when she had as it cleared up the first time and then she caught it again at nursey - I was not impressed.

Kelly - enjoy your holiday!

chopster · 09/08/2007 22:58

all sorted and managed to get dt1's ABs sorted too.

I am absolutely knackered, and now gonna drop into bed.

Behave yourselves and save me some cake, byeeee!

frumpygrumpy · 10/08/2007 09:41

Bye Kelly!! Hope you have fun!

fg grabs pezcat and plonks her on the couch with a steaming mug of tea/glass of wine (delete depending on time of day/alcoholic tendencies)

HM, I hope you are proud of yourself Its impolite to show off. Now, please eat two doughnuts and attempt to apologise for that display of sporting ability.
