Yes Chopster I do have a homestart lady for two hours on a Monday and she is great. I had intended to take the trio to the park with her in the lovely summer sunshine! we've been marooned in the house since Tuesday due to the rain so can't wait for Friday morning and the toddler group Thank God mine can't climb fences yet, I've just bought some more traditional reins off ebay as I only had one pair and two wrist straps. I got wrist straps as someone said they give the child more freedom making me feel that I am too over protective (of course they are too long and you can't steer them or stop them from falling and ending up in a heap) wish I knew how to get them to walk nicely together..maybe proper reins on them all will help. Having a rough day, up at 7.30 Tilly has a cold and finally went to sleep about 10pm after screaming for ages after being put back to bed then up again then waking the boys up argh!!!!!

oooggs · 06/07/2007 19:15

HM don't worry at all. DT1 was just below the 2nd percentile from the get go. She's still wee... but still in charge

Hello all

Mine have all been different but mostly equaled out by the time they were a year old, even the twins who were only 2lb 9 and 2lb13 at birth!

What is all this homestart ladies on tuesdays and so forth? College student? I have never had or been offered any help! I had dd when the twins were 20 months, then ds 2 years later followed by ds #4 2 and a ha;f years after that and now ds#5. I want some help, could i go shopping while they help? Or at least out for coffee Who do i ask or do i not qualify cos the twins are 8 now

DH away at sea, he has gone to Holland for 2 weeks. Im having nightmare week, too many school things, phone calls, parties, broken children etc.... Why do these things always happen when he goes away

At least the sun is out Beach i think later

menageriekeeper · 07/07/2007 12:44

Homestart is an organisation who help parents of children under 5 who are under pressure, whatever the reason. I had a lovely homestart lady who would mind the kids whilst I had a soak in the bath, take them out occasionally for a couple of hours, or just sit and have a cuppa with me. Your HV can refer you. I'm starting to think along the lines of becoming a volunteer, depending on whether I get a job I've applied for or not. www.home-start.org.uk/

Hello ladies. Been away for a week and just checking back in, will try to catch up with the thread later on, lots to read! Am now 10 weeks pg, and think I am developing a belly. Seem to have constant "womb ache", which is annoying and slightly worrying, but otherwise think all is well. Think we have a house and nursery sorted in Winchester, so I am feeling relieved. Just got to get ours in shipshape now so someone might want to rent it .

Hope everyone is well.

tkband3 · 07/07/2007 19:56

just a quickie...lg&t if you get in contact with your local colleges there are often students doing nursery nurse or CACHE courses who need placements. They generally want families with at least one new-born and one toddler, so I figure you'd qualify! Now would definitely be a good time to get in contact as they'll be sorting everything out for the next school year quite soon probably.

largeginandtonic · 07/07/2007 21:02

Hoorah! Will be on to the local colleges and homestart next week, cant wait. I cant belive i didnt know before, it may have saved my sanity.

Thank you so much Menangerie and tkBand

Never too early!! Particularly for homestart as there can be a waiting list. There was such a long waiting list in my area that by the time they'd found me someone, my girls would have been teenagers . Worth putting your name down at the colleges as well.

I've given up on the potty training for now. Can't devote the time this week as it's DD1's birthday on Weds and have a hectic week ahead. We'll try again during the summer hols...I'm really not sure they're ready anyway.

DD1 did her first ballet show yesterday...she and the rest of her class looked so sweet dressed in purple tutus dancing to 'heard it through the grapevine'. I have to admit to a little tear when they first came on stage. DTs watched the whole 1.5 hour show without a whimper and got so excited when their big sister came on stage - they were standing on our laps waving and shouting at her .

Hi all,
Lovely to be back on here, anyone missed me? This time last week I was flat on my back after sliding down a very muddy footpath on a walk in Cornwall! Madderthanabox of frogs, we drove thru Burras and know Helston very well! Spent 4 days with my best friend who lives nr Manaccan/St Keverne. Forgot to pack my fishnets for the hunky guys at Culdrose!! Went to the Camel Ball at Roseuick last Sat night, nr Goonhilly? Staggered home at 2am, it was good fun! Should you have some local paper called the Cury Gazette or something there may be a pic of me with my friends, wearing teeth, thats all I will say! Next time we are that way I`ll give you a call? Anyway, broke a bone in my foot on the muddy walk, so spent all the next day with a bag of prawns on the foot and sipping several glasses of du vin rouge to cheer me up! Went to my book club night last Weds, home at 2am, then Frid went to school for a Pink night for breast cancer in memory of Hailey our friend.........too much pink bubbly and home at 1am!! Back on the lucozade today! Only taken 4 diazapam in the last 2 weeks, am I being good? Trio all well catered for, as is the other half, house immaculate after viewing yesterday, and pork roasting in the oven as we speak.............all is well!

menageriekeeper · 08/07/2007 18:45

Triplets, I want to know your recipe for your house being immaculate a whole DAY later! Mine looks like a bombsite after a couple of house.

triplets · 08/07/2007 23:10

Well I have decided the time has come for some ACTION! So............with the weather being nice once their bedrooms are tidy and the sitting room is tidy they are banned! The result today is that they have played all day in the garden or their playshed, making camps, and even today made a pets parlour, poor cats didnt stand a chance!Had their lunch outside, no Nintendos or tv all day! Kids playing as they should in my opinion! How long it willl last I dont know, depends on the weather I guess!

chopster · 09/07/2007 07:58

that sounds great triplets, well done you!

Thank god we have a hint of summer, I think kids should be outside too. Was really nice getting out at the weekend, and have started shopping for some holiday bits.

tkband1 I'm going to really start potty training once the kids break up from school. Sains are doing packs of 10 pants for £2 in the sale, so have stocked up. Mine use the potty a fair bit now, know when they need a poo, so fingers crossed! We'll have to swap notes.
I can't decide if I'mr eally doing the right thing, but it the onyl chance I'm really going to have. I want them out of nappies before school starts again in sept.

quick question, what do people do about pottys in the car? I looked at those portapotty things with the liners, but it seems a very expensive way of doing it, especially with two of them.

welcome to the newbies

triplets · 09/07/2007 10:49

I didn`t start potty training my three until the summer when they were 18 months old. Tried for a week to do all three, hopeless. So then decided it had to be one at a time, so Thomas was first as he was always first to do everything, then Rebecca then James. Literaly just took nappies off day and night, followed him around for three days, every time he looked suspicious sat him on the potty, never looked back. Same for Becca though she took a week, and James took over two weeks but same method. At night I put them to bed nappy less, lifted each one on the potty as I went to bed, then again about 4am, they never knew anything about it! To this day Thomas and James have never wet the bed, and Rebecca a handful of times! In the car we took one potty and used old plastic carrier bags, though Rebecca loved to be held in the bushes!!
