C'mon girls. Got bored of waiting and started the new thread!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh FG I do know the feeling...somehow going on holiday seems like a lot of hard work. I know when I got back from my week away I was pleased everyone else had had a great time, but couldn't honestly say I'd found it the most relaxing week of my life. No-one else seemed to appreciate that with 3 children under 4, albeit none of them babies, we couldn't have the spontaneous holiday we used to have. And my mother drove me up the wall...not in the same way as yours, but I seemed to spend the whole time gritting my teeth .

I've had a crappy day too...parents' evening for DD1's new school last night and I'm already getting choked up every time I think about her starting reception in September - she's not even 4 till July FGS! And I've found out that a child who bullied a friend's child so much she took her out of the nursery, is in DD1's class. But she is in the same class as 2 of her friends, so that's good. It's not the school we wanted because out of 60 places, 35 went to siblings and we live on the outer limits of the catchment, so we didn't get in, but I know of several people who have because they're renting flats next to the school for the short term just to get in.

Oh and OH and I set the date for our wedding on Tuesday and it turns out his best friend (of 30 years) who should be his best man is busy that day for a really crappy reason but which he won't get out of (too long a story to go into here) so we'll probably have to move it but that's proving difficult to find a date that doesn't clash with DD1 starting school (we were hoping to get away for a few days afterwards).

And finally, as I was getting the girls ready for bed, I noticed a suspicious looking blister on DD1's neck - have since done some research and am pretty certain she's going to be covered in chicken pox spots by the morning . At least she'll have got it out of the way by her birthday but it'll be about the right time for the DTs to start getting it then...

Anyway, sorry for the rant - bit long.

MarsLady · 29/06/2007 11:44

Congrats TK Hope the dates work out!

DT2 had mad chickenpox, DT1 had one queen spot on her shoulder. Go figure!

tkband3 · 29/06/2007 12:48

Well we've moved the date and I think it's actually going to work out better for us...Friday 29th October at 11.30! And my mum's going to come and stay with the girls so we can have a few nights away somewhere .

And DD1 does have the pox - not that many spots yet. The one that was blistered yesterday has already scabbed over, but new ones appearing all the time. But she's absolutely fine in herself - quite proud of it actually, some of her friends have had it and I think she felt quite left out so she's dead chuffed to be part of the gang now . That'll only last as long as she doesn't feel too crappy with it I'm sure. One unfortunate knock-on effect is that I've had to keep the DTs home from pre-school today as well...they all go to the same one, and the head felt they should stay at home till they've all got it out of their system. So hopefully they will all come down with it at once, otherwise my summer holidays are going to last 9 weeks, not 6 .

menageriekeeper · 29/06/2007 13:16

I'm tired. Very, very tired. DH has been away working for over 2 weeks, and there's another 2 weeks at least to go. To top it off, I've pulled some muscles in my back. Can't do proper housework, so am watching the crap pile up around me. DS1 is doing the washing for me (bless him), and he cooks once a week and takes his turn with the washing up. The gruesome threesome are in for a shock tonight, as at the grand old age of 8, they're going to be pitching in with some chores if they want their pocket money.

Whinge over, as you were.

Harrogatemum · 29/06/2007 13:22

Mars - we will meet up before we go - dont you worry!! Are you all still having your meet up in a few weeks? I cant come as its my best friends kids christening and I am a godmother!

FG - where on earth are you going for a whole MONTH? We will miss you loads!

Riss70 · 29/06/2007 13:26

I guess it would be pretty often if you had them but hey I used to get asked a lot as mine were only 13 months apart - they sure as heck did not resemble tiwns to me....my little man was a big lump of a boy compared to his big sister who is quite a delicate (in stature at least) little blossom

frumpygrumpy · 29/06/2007 14:38

don't tell DP I'm here, I have loads to do. He has nipped out with a list so I'm popping in for a fix

Feel better today. I'm still up tight and strung up but I'm better. DD1 had a big assembly at school this morning and I went along. The sun popped out and the school pipe band played in the sunshine. A big troop of pipers and drummers (I don't know how little boys have the puff for bagpipes) all gleaming, they were just fantastic and, needless to say, I was watching with a lump in my throat so big it look liked I'd swallowed a DT. That restored a little bit of my insides and gave me pause for thought. DP says I should get a CD and play it all the time since it makes me feel so good. The problems are that (a) I'd cry all the time and (b) its rubbish on CD, you've got to feel it, up close, in your chest.

Boy, I talk shite sometimes

Thanks girls for calming me down and saying what I needed to hear. HM we're off to Mallorca for the month. Everyone says "ooh you'll come back soooo tanned", I know the truth is I'll come back like a old bit leather shoe

Might nip back on tonight. Tell you what, I'll wear my best bikini and you can laugh at my razor hacks

frumpygrumpy · 29/06/2007 14:43

menagerie, my full sympathies my love. Hope your back heals soon (thats a sore thing). Love to you all, takeaways and picnic food are on the prescription I'm writing for you, as are DVDs a plenty. I get stressed when things build up but if I decide in advance its going to get like that and decide when I'll fix it, it helps.

TKB, chicken pox, schmicken pox. It can be hellish at the time but extremely good to know you've left it behind. Good luck with it.

chopster · 29/06/2007 14:49

ooh fg I thought you had gorn!

Now kids playing the bagpipes, can't get my head quite roudn that one. Recorder is bad enough!

chopster · 29/06/2007 14:52

menagerie, nice to see you, hope it goes quickly for you.

tkband1, willkeep my fingers crossed for you. My older two weren't too abd with it at all - they were most annoyed about being stuck in, so it's quite possible she will carry on regardless.

Harrogatemum · 29/06/2007 16:29

FG - how fab, Mallorca fora whole month - which bit pray tell? As I came back from there just a month ago.....we were in a villa just inland from Cala D'Or in the middle of nowhere. Hey FG, you dont own that incredibly flash villa down on the beach do you at Cala Mitjana ??

MarsLady · 29/06/2007 16:45

Bet she does!

SomethingIncrediblyWitty · 29/06/2007 19:45

Bon voyage fg
No hols for me for a while - can't cope with the teeny terror as it is let alone going on hols! She's (almost) as much work as the dts were when they were babies.
Oh, and the teenager-ish thing is still going strong with dts btw - started when they were about 6 - precocious back-talking little....! Almost 4 years later and they are growing hair all over the place and i'm teaching facial hygiene!
what else caught my eye? Oh yes...i noticed a few people's dts seem to hate each other - so why do i always get asked 'isn't that strange, i thought twins always got on' grrrrrr!

Tash74 · 30/06/2007 03:36

HM - sorry for the delay in reply. Last few days have been busy. We live in Brisbane - "Brizvegas" as it is known locally. Nice place to live, so I am sure you will love it. There is a good support network here for parents of twins as well. They have a weekly playgroup which I haven't made it to yet.

Harrogatemum · 30/06/2007 15:02

Hi Tash - which part of Brissie do you live in? I spent a year there in 94-95 living in BArdon and then ST Lucia. Been back on holidays 3 times since and have always stayed with my sister in law in Windsor. I would prefer to be a bit further out to be honest as I want more house for my money but we will see what DH thinks to that!

Maybe we can meet up when I get there - will need all the friends I can get to stop me from feeling homesick!

menageriekeeper · 30/06/2007 15:51

Thank you for the sympathy - much appreciated. I rarely whinge, but it does the soul good to moan occasionally. Chippie tea last night, and bung in the oven pizza tonight, with a rather cheeky chardonnay for Mummy when the gruesome threesome are in bed.

Harrogatemum · 30/06/2007 22:16

menageriekeeper - you have triplets dont you..........? I am bowing down in front of you, I struggle BIG STYLE with twins so I really dont know how you (and triplets - hello!) do it!

menageriekeeper · 01/07/2007 16:57

I do have triplets, and I find that large quantities of gin and valium help.

Tash74 · 02/07/2007 03:32

Hi HM - would love to meet up with you when you are here. I live in Windsor too! I understand what you mean about wanting more house for the money. We are in a tiny 2-bedroom unrenovated Queenslander, as we weren't planning on having 2 kids when we bought it 2 years agao! But it is a great area to live in, close to the city for work.

largeginandtonic · 02/07/2007 11:11
