So recently found out me and my OH are expecting twins early January! Total shock they will be our first.
Just wondered if anyone wanted to share the journey! Would be nice to have someone to chat to along the way! :)

Sounds about same as me moggle I've been sorting the spare room we seem to have quite the collection of clothes for the girls now :)! Anyone decided when there going on maternity leave yet?

I'm hoping to make it as close to Christmas as possible. DH is taking 6wks of shared parental leave in April/may which means I lose 6 weeks at the end of my leave. so I have to start mat leave as late as poss, I'll be using some annual leave to help. I only work 3 days a week in a sitting down staring at a computer screen, so hoping it shouldn't be too hard... famous last words!

dangle90 · 03/09/2017 06:43

Aww hope you manage to do that. Are you due same time as me moggle I can't remember? I'm probably going to go off about mid Nov, I have 3 weeks holiday to take so using that and then my mat leave. My job is on my feet and long shifts

No later than you, 31 Jan is due date (well, that is 40 weeks so 17 Jan I guess)

dangle90 · 03/09/2017 11:48

Ahh yeah, mine is 9th Jan so 28 weeks is Christmas Day 😱

How is everyone doing? I feel like I have expanded significantly in the last week or 2!

dangle90 · 08/09/2017 08:14

Hey chocolate. I'm feeling the same! Off work at the mo with migraines so hopefully they clear up, other than that I've been fine.
Was wondering if any of you guys were going to do the NCT classes?

I have also expanded! Was looking at timehop pics from 3 yrs ago when we moved into our house, I was 28 weeks pregnant with DD. I look a little smaller now (at 19 weeks), but there's not much in it. I have started the comical pregnant lady huffing and puffing and am starting to get out of breath reading DD stories!! Am really struggling with clothes and annoyingly my H&M maternity skinny jeans are getting a bit of a squeeze... more annoying huffing and puffing to get them on and off!

We had a great experience at our NCT classes before DD, I would really recommend them, though everyone's experiences vary. We had just moved to the area so it was a great way to make friends and we hit the jackpot and are still really good friends with the other 4 couples; recently 2 have had 2nd babies and are on maternity leave so all 5 mums and kids are meeting up all together again. We all (dads too) meet up together every few months too. It's really nice. I did learn a lot and even with twins the info about birth options will still be useful. The TAMBA courses look great too though ... I'm not sure which would be better if you can only do one. NCT would probably give you more local friends but perhaps the TAMBA ones more useful for twins.

I've booked us on the £10/person TAMBA 'practical parenting' course for October and I'm planning to watch the breastfeeding twins webinar too. We did consider the 'already have a kid' TAMBA day-long course but it's a lot of money and we are really having to watch every penny at the moment.

dangle90 · 08/09/2017 10:39

Yeah I'm also huffing and puffing away moggle! Don't even realise I'm doing it until someone mentioned it! Almost 23 weeks now can't get over how fast it's going.
Don't know where to start with the courses, I did see the TAMBA one though which was (about) £300 for the day which I also thought we deffo can't afford. But I've heard like you say the classes are great to meet people which would be good, also with these been our first I would find it useful I think as we are both clueless

chocolateshortcake · 08/09/2017 20:29

I'm huffing and puffing away too! Work is up a few flights of stairs as well!
The nearest NCT to me is about 25 miles away and i didn't do it with dc1 although I would have liked to, I just thought that I would probably not end up seeing people due to the distance. Considering it this time though because I feel I would have enjoyed it last time. No tamba courses up here either 🙄 there is a twin club also about 25 miles away which I think I will join nearer due date. It's the one thing that other twin mums have said - join a twin club!

Proudmummy2017 · 10/09/2017 10:33

I'm expecting identical twins at my 36weeks in Dec would of had in on due date but doctors want me have them 36weeks I am 22weeks now I am really looking forward now

dangle90 · 10/09/2017 11:54

emzymorr · 10/09/2017 19:36

Hi everyone!
I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant with non-identical twin girls! Although, I'm not convinced the sonographer was 100% sure about gender of twin 2 so hoping for confirmation at 20 week anomaly scan.
These are our first babies so totally new to all of this! At what point do we need to start buying stuff?? Don't want to start too early as afraid of jynxing anything! We had a look at travel systems today but left with even more of a headache than we started with!! An advice greatly appreciated??

dangle90 · 10/09/2017 19:49

Hi emzy. Congrats! I'm 23 weeks tomorrow, and tbh we have bought quite a lot, to begin with I was thinking the same about not wanting to jinx anything but I feel so much better feeling more organised and just buying bits at a time rather than rushing and being stressed later on. We bought an icandy peach off someone on Facebook quite early on as it was a bargain. Literally had everything with it! I recommend the twin selling pages on fb you can pick up some great bargains! X

Our icandy was £230 with car seats, bases, carry cots and all adapters, raincovers, cost toes! Couldn't believe our luck!
My friend has bought me an electric breast pump today from a charity shop for £2!! Can't believe it haha

It's been a while since I've been here. I finally got the doppler. Found twin A no problem and I located twin B eventually hiding at the back Grin Not done much about the baby stuff yet but my bump is getting bigger by the day and I'm getting more excited when I'm feeling strong movements.
How is everyone else getting on? I hope everyone is feeling well and enjoying your pregnancies. Has anyone started on their hospital bags yet?

Salsa I was thinking of you recently. Any update from the Specialist? Fc the news is good.

dangle90 · 12/09/2017 08:46

Hi heartburn! Nice to hear from you!! How far gone are you now? I've been feeling the girls kick loads lately it's so nice. Not started on hospital bag yet have you? Have people started buying clothes? We have, but I don't know how much of everything to buy Hmm

OP posts:
dangle90 · 12/09/2017 08:46

I went through all DD's newborn to 6m clothes on sunday, I think we won't need to buy any more newborn stuff (as we didn't know the sex beforehand with her so only bought unisex stuff) but then stuff gets more girly as the sizes get bigger! I will have to wait and see what we get given by friends who've promised us boy clothes though before we buy anything. I don't really care about my sons wearing pink vests if it saves us a tenner buying a new pack!
I am planning on buying a few packs of tiny baby vests and sleepsuits though.
I have also found some good things in our local charity shop - they always have big boxes of baby clothes, 50p each or 3 for £1, I got a great haul of summer dungarees and rompers the other day in the right size. Also a couple of gro bags which looked almost new and I have also bought a couple on ebay too.

Oh just booked DD in for another day at nursery from January - she'll be there for 3 days a week - it will give me a bit more of a break while on maternity leave. (and a break for her too from the babies!) Pretty excited about that as it will be essentially free for us during term time anyway due to her 30 free hours. I'm hoping the twins nap as well as their big sister did so I get some down time too!

moggle · 12/09/2017 16:00

Proudmummy I'm having trouble fitting much food in my tummy at the moment too! Sometimes I have to have two attempts at dinner and ten minutes standing up in the middle!

dangle90 · 12/09/2017 16:37

Sounds like your making a good start with the clothes moggle! We have bought some of the grow bags too, apparently there a god send.
I'm suffering so bad with headaches the past week! Don't know if it's just a bug going round or what!

Hello, I'm a few years in with twins, but just wanted to suggest that you check if your local twin groups run any antenatal classes/groups etc. My local one is a Tamba affiliated charity and runs antenatal classes specifically for multiples (cheaper than Tamba too). Just mentioning as I think sometimes people think twin clubs are just baby/toddler groups!

Proudmummy2017 · 13/09/2017 01:52

Doctors said 16dec on the day I'm 36weeks
I'm planning to breast feed them we had bit of scary week couple weeks ago but all is well now I have one son already who is 3in Nov he starts nursery in January
