So recently found out me and my OH are expecting twins early January! Total shock they will be our first.
Just wondered if anyone wanted to share the journey! Would be nice to have someone to chat to along the way! :)

salsa I'm sorry to hear that, did you hear back from them yesterday? Hopefully they have identified any potential problems as early as possible.

We had our 12week scan this week and all looked good so we've been having fun telling people. We're of that age and with a 2.5yoDD people have definitely been expecting an announcement from us, so when I say "we've got some news" everyone gets this really smug tone in their voice like they know what I'm going to say, then I get to still surprise them, haha :-)

Yes, they got back to me Friday and booked me in for an appointment for today at 12, very scared. My mum and partner are coming. But hopefully good or bad will have some clearer answers after today and an action plan can be put in place if necessary. On a more positive note my boyfriend proposed at the weekend! So lets hope for some good news today too xx

It's so nice telling people moggle isn't it. Even though these are our first as soon as we started telling people they'd guess and say "your pregnant" and we got to to say "not with just one, but 2" and everyone is so shocked it's nice.
I've booked an early gender scan for tomorrow, excited and anxious all at the same time

Can I join too please?
We are expecting di/di twins. It's a complete but amazing surprise, having twins. The MW used the term "High Risk" several times (in every sentence) and was very intense (I have had previous pregnancy complications and a mmc). I still can't believe how lucky we are. I keep looking at the little images on the scan. I'm nervous but trying to stay positive. Smile

Thanks Dangle I'm due Feb 15th so a Valentine's Surprise! TBH it is more likely to be January. We have two older Children (3 yo+ 5 yo). We will need to buy a bigger car and a double buggy soon - Any recommendations welcome Smile
Buggywise: The Mountain Duet and Out&About Nipper 360 seem to be the most popular. I'm hoping to get it second hand if possible.
Carwise: The Citroën C4 Picasso and Ford Galaxy seem to be most suitable for us. We need enough room for Carseats/double buggy/ Changing bag etc.

How is everyone feeling? I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread yet but I'm looking forward to sharing the experience and hearing advice from everyone Smile

Aww have you told your other children yet? We need a new car too, but need a drive first! We've bought the icandy peach which seems great so far (when I've whizzed it around the bedroom)! Has all the car seats adapters ect. Aww mine are due 9th Jan but probably will be December babies, hopefully not Xmas!

Aww, just in time for Christmas or New Year! It's a lovely time of year all round. I'll have to get my shopping organized early this year, definitely don't want to be rumbling around the shops in the Christmas rush.

We're going to tell the children in a couple of weeks. They have been noticing the increased distance (my stomach is getting rounded already) when having cuddles. They're either loving one another or killing one another most of the time, I can't imagine the mayhem with two more in the mix Grin

I'm a little nervous about driving such a big car but I'll have no other choice because there is no way everyone will fit in the car I have at the moment. I saw the Icandy Peach in Mothercare this week, it's a lovely buggy.

The car and buggy saga is a little like the chicken and the egg in our house because I'm afraid if I get the car first, that the buggy won't fit and if I get the buggy first, I won't find a booth to fit the buggy. I'll have to get a minibus at the rate I'm going! Grin

Hi Heartburn! Wow doubling your kids in one fell swoop. Eekers :-D
We are in the market for a new car too, however with only one DD already (and no more after these 2!) at least we can get a 7 seater and still use the big boot virtually all the time. So any buggy should fit in for us.

I'm also torn between the Out n about and the mountain buggy. Also the baby jogger city mini double, if I decide it's not a necessity to be able to get the buggy through the front door (I'm not actually sure if the Nipper will fit either but the mountain buggy definitely will). The difficulty is that I was thinking I wouldn't bother with the extra expense of carrycots for two, but if I have a buggy that doesn't fit through the front door I will need to be able to pick up the babies and bring them inside without waking them. Am wondering whether a couple of phil n teds cocoons will do the job OK.

No shops near us stock both the Nipper and the Mountain buggy which is really annoying, we won't be able to do a direct comparison. I looked at the MB in John lewis on sunday, it looked really nice and the seats go beautifully flat. On Friday I visited a friend with 2y9m twins and pushed them in their Nipper, it felt amazingly light - just as easy to push as our baby jogger with just DD in. But the seats are very laid back and the bottom part doesn't seem to go totally flat so I'm not sure how that would work with a newborn, even though they say it's suitable.

Anyway I am enjoying all the buggy research again this time round! Didn't think I'd get to do it again as DD's buggy is in great working order for round two :-D

Specialist appointment in Southampton yesterday was so meh. Feel so dull and empty. They are still in there, moving about, hearts beating, growing, but twin b is a lot smaller and further behind. Twin b has a lesser share of the placenta and the cord flow is intermittent, and best case scenario is things staying the same and just trying to get to 24 weeks with none of the other MCDA risks occurring or worsening :( they have sIUGR. I'm so sad because they are so in there, but they spoke about how little one can just suddenly die, and that can effect the ok one because they are sharing blood vessels, also spoke about cutting off the cord to the littler one if conditions worsen to save the ok one, and they can also still develop TTTS. There are so many risks its unbelievable. I am so envious of you all and you DCDA pregnancies :( I think I've come to terms with the fact this isn't going to get enjoyable at any point, so just going to have to embrace it for what is is, and I shared a photo on facebook yesterday for the first time as I want them to be acknowledged. I'm so numb and the next 2 weeks until the next specialist appointment is going to feel like a million years. Hope you are all doing well x

Oh salsa I'm so sorry, that doesn't sound like good news. There's me wittering about pushchairs and you are worrying about what is even going to happen with your two precious little babies. I'm glad you were able to share them on FB so people know they exist. I can't even begin to imagine how you must be feeling, you must be so stressed out and like you say having to wait between scans and appointments must be interminable. I will be praying that they both make it to 24 weeks so they at least have a chance. Loads and loads of love and hugs for you xxxx

Don't be silly everyone you babble away excitedly, it's an amazing time, and I'm genuinely happy for you. I want nothing more than to be excited for two healthy babies :( I'm just grateful to have somewhere to vent when I'm feeling down, and have some form of support, so thank you xxx I've booked an appointment with my midwife between now and my next scan, so I can hear the heartbeats again for reassurance which is something x

Okay, so we are late to the party, but we are also expecting twins. It's a crazy crazy time. We are 16.1 weeks, IVF didi twins, due January 8th but with a warning that realistically they could come anytime from Late November. Reading through it's interesting to see how other people are coping and how well prepared some of you are compared to us!
Salsa we are really sorry to hear about your troubles and have our fingers and toes crossed for you.

Hi cookies, congrats and welcome! My due date is the day after you, also didi twins. We went for a private scan today to try find out the sex but neither babies wanted us to know, so maybe next week!

Hi twin mums and twin mums-to-be!
Fully healthy twin pregnancies are perfectly possible! I was a bit early at 36w2d but both boys were healthy and one just over 7 pounds, the other just under. My friend's were slightly smaller at 34 weeks but didn't need NICU: all but one are on 90th centile for size now. Eat well and rest, rest, rest. You will forget what a hot drink tastes like for months after the birth.

One thing that would be good to do now is sign up with TAMBA and research births. There are, thankfully, new NICE recommendations in place -- I had to fight the NHS for a selective C-section. Whatever choice you make, it should be an informed one.

Good luck, hope it goes well!

Hi, I had DcDa twins a few months ago. Be prepared to be massive. You will look full term at about 6 months. I carried mine to term and had an elective section. The pregnancy was hard towards the end but try and stay as healthy and active as possible. Twins really are quite special. Mine spend ages just looking at each other in a quite bewitching way. For a medical perspective dc da twins are the least risky as they have a placenta each ( extra weight for you though). You will have consultant led care and extra scans ( which I liked as got to see them more often)

We are going to start looking at TABMA and NCT classes in the next few weeks.
OH is on summer holidays so spare room will be becoming a nursery over the next few weeks...
